Speaking of Chinese, I just read something about skeletons in this article.
Quote:
Five of the skeletons after the upgrade has the advantage of distance and quantity, and with the Necromancer spiritualism can accumulate a large number of troops in a short time,

That said, this is through Google translate, but it gives some indication that raising tons of troops for the long term may still be possible.

I don't understand. What "Chinese news" are You talking about?

Edit: My lack of typing skills shows once again. I was busy typing this, when a fellow poster's action made my question moot. Thus, I would replace it with a more pressing one: Since when does Ubihole  communicate mainly in Chinese? Did we reach the Age of Space Cowboys already?

Edit nr. 2.: Thanks, Wckey!

Michael deserves a proper burial as much as Paris Hilton deserves a Nobel Prize in physics. The moron should be painfully disembowelled, cut to pieces, burned and eaten by something big and ugly.

Racial Ability : Necromancy
Any living or Undead falling on the battlefield feeds a special gauge. The player can use it to increase one of his own stacks. X% of the raised creatures remain after combat

You need creatures to die in order to use necromancy, hence using mid to end in battle.

At what stage would gating be "needed" to be used? I reckon beginning stage but maybe you fill the guage up quickly somehow....

Lol father breeder being inferno catapult....

Makes me think about gating again.....wondering if each tier has ability to gate, or if gating is reserved for the breeders (mother and father!)

I just noticed an interesting thing about Ubisoft

They managed that a large number of enthusiastic players hates an in game character even thou, they don't have almost any information about who the character really is or what is its role in the story.
They did it only by their marketing strategy. Good work ubisoft! I did not seen such a move in my life!!

So Michael is some kind of anti-villain, right? A well-intentioned extremist?
I wonder how well he'll perform compared to Grand Vizier Gavin Magnus.

I think it's a logical conclusion to believe at least all core units will be able to gate, most likely all elite units as well.
If it relied on a single specific elite unit it would create a lot of problems.

Your faction's unique skill would be worthless until you got that unit, which depending on map settings might not even be possible.
The enemy could prevent your unique skill from coming into play by nuking down that specific unit as a priority target.
Your focus lies mainly on that unit, all the other units feel inferior as a result.

@Mr Dragon - I hear you and you make sense....just wondering why Elvin posted that there were some surprises to Gating that will be slightly different from H5....wonder what they are....

One thing for sure, is that each factions racial ability seems to fill up the bar so once the bar is full or nearly full you can get maximum use from the ability.....why would one leave gating until this late in a battle? Seems like their bar would need to be full right at the start of the battle....

If you read Lepastur's sum-up, he said that the Haven racial (Guardian Angel) has several levels and that at first level he could only use his racial on core units. He obtained the 2nd level when his hero reached level 10 and could then cast it on elite units. He also said that the 3rd level could be obtained at level 20.

If there's an ultimate level, it could most likely be obtained at level 30 (though I'm not sure what the ultimate level could do since there are only 3 levels of creatures ^^)

It could be safe to assume that Necromancy and Gating also work the same way :
- "basic" : applies to core units only
- "advanced" : applies to core and elite units
- "expert" : applies to all units

As for the ultimate effect I see 3 possibilities :
- doubled effect (twice more creatures are raised/gated, double stats OR duration on the guardian angel, bloodrage and honour) ?
- mass effect ?
- racial gauge fills faster ?

@Nelgirith: That's cool and an interesting view on the different levels determining the effectiveness of the racial ability...

My vibe and question is "when" to use the racial ability...

Necromancy -> towards middle/end of battle (as you need to fill up the bar by killing troops and then use it to raise dead)

Gating -> towards beginning of battle (how does bar fill up? Does it start out at maximum and then as you gate, the bar goes down to zero? In other words vica versa to necromancy)

It's also possible, although I doubt it, that gating isn't tied to the units you have at all. It could be sort of like a summoning spell.

The screenshot today looks fantastic. The depth is better than ever. You'd definitely have to change the angle, whether by zooming out and over, or rotating, to see what's behind the trees in back.

As for Michael, perhaps they are trying to make us hate him. We are going to be so much more emotionally interested in killing Michael than if they hadn't promoted his figurine every day. It is kind of brilliant, actually.

Other options could be:

For all:
Mastery (doesn't consume an action from the user)

Gating:
Instant Gating
Buffed Gating (gated units have a stat increase of some sort or come into play with a blessing the hero knows.)

Guardian Angel:
Lingering Protection (after effect that greatly reduces incoming damage.)
Angel's Mercy (heals/ressurects X hitpoints of the stack per turn whilst protected)
Angel's Mercy (different version, removes all curses on the target and prevents the target from being curses while protected.)

Bloodrage: (presuming it's some kind of buff on a/your unit(s))
Infectious Rage (friendly units near the raging unit get a small stat boost from that unit, (say a Raging Centaur gives +1 movement to nearby units and a raging Panther Warrior gives +X damage))

Necromancy:
Death Catalyst (hero gains mana when raising troops).
Shroud of Asha (hero starts with 50% of the bar full).

Honour:
Bushido (Units gain a powerfull offensive bonus in addition to their defensive one.)
Against the Odds (blessing is more powerful for every adjecent enemy that is not adjecent to another friendly unit.)

Just to name a few, based ofcourse on what I think the skills might be.
