First off, I have to say that the Hero specs disappoint me. I had hoped for more strategical and creative specs, gamechanging even, and yet we go back to more old super boring "Increases the growth of Peasants" specs? Why?
Why not have a hero who can make his creatures invisible, another who increases their magical attack and one that allows his creatures to teleport around the battlefield?

And secondly, why is beta the LAST stage? Do they do not want feedback on the game and help with the balancing? Having us test only the last stage while just make our beta testing some marketing thing.

Let's hope that they use BIG and few stages, so that the last stage is soon and will be going on for more than a week.

4. So when is the Beta starting?

If you pre-ordered you’ll get access to the Public Beta, which will be the last stage of the Beta process (meaning the game will be stable enough to be playable and enjoyable).
There is no official, definitive date for the Public Beta as of yet.
However, you will soon receive a newsletter with practical information, and we’ll give you a starting date for the Beta as soon as possible.

Xero, name a hero who has had a specific creature growth increase before? It's not old, it's new. Closest thing is the all-around nobility of heroes 4.

And to answer your question: I'm guessing balance. Plus,coming up with oh so many super unique and gamechanging specialities that are not similar to old ones at all... Well what if something was unique, but not so good? The Academy hero with time shift comes to mind. I don't know how it is in multiplayer, cause I've only played hotseat, but in my opinion that was a 100% unique speciality that was pretty worthless. In most cases it was better to cast a spell, and you wouldn't use it cause you were out of mana since you were a wizard... Ah well, end of that rant.

Personaly, I support unique specialities like training a unit into another unit or even something simple like a certain hated inferno ballista hero. By adding (or sometimes somehow subtracting) something that isn't there without there hero, it becomes unique. Now granted the + atk and def bonus of X creature wouldn't be there, but you get what I mean.

How about creating hero who trains certain unit to use new ability, not whole new creature, for example poisonous arrows, double attack, disables. Buffs without new animations, models or sounds, easier to balance. To be clear I'm not talking about +2 to attack stuff, that's old and boring, also a bit useless(Archers speciality vs Archery speciality). Also +6 sisters growth speciality does not look good.

Specializations of that kind are hard to balance. I mean, with the "boring" specials there are now, some heroes are clearly better than others, and that would be even more obvious with different kinds of specializations.

well, of course I'm not working on H6, but three months sounds a lot. in H5, modding a new faction, with new creatures, buildings and heroes, I think 99% of the work could be done in 1 - 2 week.
well of course, most H5 modders are working alone, which is great advantage, because you can use all the time to work. I guess in a dev team, a lot of time is devoted to arguing about what is the best idea (lol, I remember in the cd of god of war, there was an interview of the devs, and they were like : at the end of the day we were all angry at each other because we all thought : why don't they agree that my idea is the best one. but the day after, all was forgotten. )

At least they said no 6th faction for all those who thought this was a possibilty

It was easy to foresee that there will be only five factions when all this commotion about sanctuary started. "this is the last one" it said. The question for now is: how many and which factions we will see in expansions? And how much will they cost...

Key word being modding. As opposed to creating from scratch.

Yeah, creating concept art, creature and hero models, animations, textures, lore, faction mechanics, hero portraits, balancing, towns, sound effects, soundtracks, etc. from scratch would take a while. Not to mention, it would be odd to have a faction that wasn't integrated into the campaigns. If they did make a campaign for them, they would have to have cut scenes, scripts, levels, and testing. It sounds like they have a lot on their plate without considering a new faction.

Some of those must be deliberate. I mean, in the case of H6, there's been too many leaks for them all to be accidental. Seriously, it feels like the leaks outnumber actual news 2 to 1
