I don't think I've ever heard those Blizzard phrases before nor do I think they are popular outside of Blizzard games.
True, but Starcraft sold 11 million copies, as compared to 21 million for the whole Command and Conquer series prior to Generals, and about the same for the whole Age of Empires series. Regardless, admira has a point, the HoMM series has yet to produce a short, catchy battle-cry.

Well seems we got a Siren in the game then!
Mystery solved, all non-boss creatures have been identified then.

6 elementals, 1 phoenix, 1 siren and 70 faction creatures (that includes upgrades).
Ok people that's a wrap!

So, a new screenshot has been posted in the artwork thread.
Judging from that, I think that the redhaired neutral shown looks particularly fishy. Wink wink, nudge nudge.
I think it is now fairly safe to assume that this particular neutral is some form of mermaid.

Those sirens would make an awesome replacement for the Spring Spirits in Sanctuary imo...

I'm really liking their look actually, they look surprisingly dangerous for mermaids.
Pretty certain they'll come with a Siren label.

And yes, they totaly would fit the Sanctuary faction better then the Spring Spirit.
Call em Ningyo and stick em in there, done deal, nobody would question their "appropriateness" for the faction.

There is a change in the creature compared with those screenshot from February. The redhead feathered hag looked better (although on a low resolution) than this creature. Now we have fishy siren (mermaid). This is terrible because the fights with her will be only in the water.

I would. Seriously, what link is there, other than water. Both like water, but that's not explanatory enough to make Mermaids fit into Sanctuary.
And where I would certainly not protest the scrapping of either the Spring Spirit or the Ice Maiden, I don't think that shoehorning in a Mermaid would make it any better. I would prefer another Naga, if I am honest. And You'd have to jump through a lot of hoops to explain away the fact that fishy Mermaids are actually reptilian Naga.

They are the same creature? O.O
Maybe they'll look diferent when they're on the land.
Also, is it me or the graphic quality of the Stronghold creatures is better now?

Probably not, because while sirens were originally avian, they became mermaids in medieval times (The French, Spanish, Portugese, Italians, Polish and Romanian words for mermaid all derive from siren).

Soo.. we got the nice redheaded girl. I actually like the a lot. Wonder i thy are a Naga type. A Beastman or a magic compound like the Gryf or manticora.

There appirence is made quite well. I like all the fins around the lower body and the split tail fin. Also there blue see like scale color creates a camouflage image.

But I have to say I think the model has been changed since its first appirence. For one because of the color of their hair, and also I can't Identify the upper body part on the older picture.

And I hope they will be called Sirens, just for the more "Battle" apropriet sound.

I never said Sirens were mermaids in the original myth, I know they were more like well.. harpies, but as you indicated yourself, the name has been used for mermaid-like creatures as well.
As we allready have Harpies in the game and their upgrade is sitting on "Fury" as a name, it seems hihgly plausible they'll slap the name Siren onto this neutral.

Yes the graphics do look different to the Feb screenshot, maybe it's improved or maybe it was just too small in Feb....

Notice that the mermaid was on water in Feb as well, so this neutral we'll only fight on water...

The screenshot looks a little wierd...why are orc troops running towards the mermaids? Is this in battlescreen or a movie clip...cos it can't be on the adventure map..

We have no reason to believe they will only function in battle on water tiles, especially seeing as the ship boarding battlefield is still the deck of a ship, they will be capable of functioning on land.

The screenshot was obviously made in a similar fashion to cutscenes, it is shot on the adventure map with the unit auras disabled and the units frozen during a certain part of their animations.

To put it simply, it is not a gameplay shot, it's a posed shot.

Well, these are actually mermaids. Mermaids are half-woman and half-fish. Sirens are half-woman and half-birds (like the H3/H4 harpies).
