I'm fine with the Sun Rider/Sun Crusader upgrade difference. The change of color/ armor and the additional cape is more then enough.
There a worse units to pick on then the Sun Rider, like Hellhound or Glory when it comes to upgrades.

Yeah, I'm fine too with this knights, I've never been a hardcore haven player, but I consider this ones one of the best concepts so far. I can't pronunce the name without adding something like: Sun Crusader of the epicly awesome awesomeness riding effing blazing horzez!!!!

Everything is perfect with them. The name, the look, the ***ng blazing horse...

I'm probably going to play with Necropolis because I like everything new from them(unless, of course, some of the 2 other factions is much more amazing for me), but they did a great work on every unit IMO.

I would most likely agree with you on the necropolis part. At this point, I find them the most satisfying and amazing faction, especially in terms of changes from basic to upgraded. Inferno, however, is very close and I have always been a huge fan of both factions. Now I've never really been that into Haven so I might be a bit biased, but my interest in them has significantly diminished as a result of the priestess/vestal and the glories. I'm not being sexist or anything, it's just that they really go against the medieval knights using brute force mixed with the power of light motif that I've always connected with Haven.

Here's hoping that the next faction comes out wednesday (December 1) and we can get back on the already slow info train.

No news today? I had hoped for maybe some neutrals to fill the wait for next faction.

I'd like to find out what the elementals look like; hopefully they return to being humanoid, the elementals of H5 were kinda silly looking for the most part.

I for one hope they look as less humanoid as possible. There are thousands of shapes and forms around, so making them humanoid woulb be just plain boring.

It isn't very exciting, true, but Heroes elementals have always been humanoid, and the first time the series departed from that it ended rather poorly.

I didn't mind the earth elementals so much, but the fire and water elementals especially were just nonsensical looking in my eyes.

I actually think it ended better than in the previous games. The designs were bad, and I mean really bad, for all the Elementals. Only in Heroes IV were they actually a good representation of their elements, but they were also poorely designed and far too simple.

The Heroes V at least present some kind of idea, or concept behind them. Or to be more accurate, they did at some point. The water Elemental presented as a Chinese like dragon composed out of pure water is absolutely brilliant. Can't see why nobody appreciates it.

Water was awesome. Fire, on the other hand... Some salamander with megaman cannons instead of paws/hands/whatever. I'd liked them more if they were quadrupedal lizards with that shot from the mouth or something. Air was at least funny, and earth was cool, IMO.

I hope they change them a lot, specially gameplay-wise. If they come as elites, I will expect a lot of effort to make them cool looking and playing.

I agree that water elemental in H5 was brilliant. I also love H3 elementals, but others weren't so good...

Well, apparently there's this news about some mental underground creature... what's it called... oh yes *MIND FLAYER*. Said to suck all the juice out of your brain, really cool.

And some Dark Ninja Assassin Emo kinda creature in there too, which is the biggest evidence that pleads in favor of a DARK ELF Faction.

There's also further talk about the Rotfang Technocracy, a faction that consists of Mages wielding Dental Drills who try to take over Ashan with a combination of Dark Magic, Gum disease and Sexually-Ambiguous Robot-bulters whose catchphrase is "Oh my goodness!"

I agree with you on this: The Fire Elemental was nicely designed(only if it had paws, as you said), the Water was great(but I'd prefer if it had a snake-like head - to me faces always add a little personality ), the Earth was the best Earth Elemental out of all HOMMs IMO(Pre-H4 looked too boring, while H4 was good with the Easter Island statue design, though H5 is still better for me), and the Air was good, funny, but slightly too cartoonish even for H5 standards. IMO the Earth and Water elementals were the best-looking to suit their purpose

I also whink that Elementals in H6 should remain with the same basic abilities(Earth-Walker, Water-Caster, Air-Flyer, and Fire-Shooter). I have always loved elementals(especially in H3 Conflux, since they were playable ) and it'd be cool if they had upgrades like everyone else.

I just had a thought:

A faction, like Academy, that allows you to choose one elemental type as one of your elite creatures.  Once you make the choice it can't be changed (so it's sort of like a building that you build that restricts the construction of other buildings like it, a bit like in H4), but that would be an interesting way to build a faction similar to the Conflux we had in H3, without it being a faction entirely based on elementals.

Even Academy could pull it off, if they can spare any room in their line-up...

Not saying that's what I think they'll do.  But it would be interesting.

Yeah that would be interesting. It just needs to be balanced and also if you take another Academy town you should somehow be also the change the champion dwelling, in case you have another element then what they have.

That's a great idea, Sylvan could be a candidate for a building like that. I also hope the Phoenix and Faerie Dragon are in a faction (don't care which one I just want them to be recruitable, but could be in Sylvan)

One thing that always bothered me was that there was no Neutral town type - i.e. a castle type that was not playable, but existed as a meeting place of neutral creatures like rogues and nomads (and elementals, where applicable).  I never understood why you couldn't just design a town that wasn't tied to the existing factions, and make it so you could only have a town like that by capturing it during a map.

With H6 implementing a new "Castle Conversion" mechanic, this would be a great time to try out something like this.  But at the same time, it certainly looks like creature recruitment is vastly different from the way it was before, so it might not be practical anymore (especially the elementals...)

Well I did once try my hand at designing what was basically a 'mercenary town' which was a tier or two of Halflings at the bottom, with the rest of the tiers up to the 7th tier filled up by various elf, dwarf, or human mercenaries. Never got too far with it though, I could never quite figure out the lineup I wanted, and I doubt it would port at all well over to to new tier setup.

I think Elementals in Academy is a fairly obvious thought, given that their theme from H5 was summoning things. In fact, there wouldn't even be a need for having to choose, you could make an Elemental Altar like the Summoning Portal of Heroes 4, and you chose whatever element you prefered. And since Academy line-up needs a major overhaul anyway, it could certainly be done.

Okay I really did try to read thru all of this but there's just too MUCH of it.  So here's my thoughts:

Haven Faction: I like it except for the Light Elemental things (I'm gonna just keep calling them that) which seem a bit too much like the angels AND the Vestals.  (Also, if a Vestal is a romantic lead in any campaign I will laugh heartily)  Some tweaking couldn't hurt in a few places, but the look is nice.

Inferno:  I kinda like that it's a lot more bestial in appearance this time around.  I don't feel the Succubus really is needed and now they even look more human which to me is not as good a choice as the obviously not human succubi from V.  But that is nitpicky.

Necropolis: Let us have a moment of silence for the Ghost Dragon....But let us have a rousing cheer for the Undead Manticore!!  (Shh why do you keep telling me the proper names, you know I don't listen!)  I do like the change in Champion, it seems to fit more with the whole Asha-Worship-Spider-Goddess-thing.  Also the fact that she seems to come in multiple forms is going to have interesting gameplay ramifications.  I do rather miss the Zombies tho.  I mean, they were nice because they were useless for offense but MARVELOUS for defense.  Just stick Zombies in the way of things and they'd be a wall for a while until you got something more competant there.  The Ghoul seems to be like a less powerful Vampire or a more powerful Skeleton, which I find to be not as good as Zombies.  *SIGH*

Remaining Factions:  I'm guessing Elves are in, just from what I've seen around in terms of general news, and then some manner of naga/lizardmen.  OR, based on the concept art and the video, the faceless are some sort-of Dark Angels, meaning a faction of Renegades and fallen Angels, and possibly other monsters/eldritch abominations and a return to the Sorcerer Castle of I thru III.  Which would be cool too.  So I'm going to say the lineup is

Haven
Necro
Inferno
Elves
Faceless/Renegades/SorcererFromHeroesIandII

Future Factions/Expansions:  I'd love it if we got two factions in the first expansion, especially if a few of the units from it were Neuturals in the first game/DLC (like Djinn, Naga, etc)
Wizards would likely be one, as there's a lot of relation to the Necromancers there (And there would be POLITICS and probably storylines relating to the rise of Necromancers to a more powerful political force) with the Naga as a NEW faction, mostly lizardmen types tho.  I feel like they'd get wiped out/forced out by the end of the game+expansions, explaining why we don't see them in V.

Then probably Orcs in the last expansion, and if we're lucky something else, like maybe Dark Elves (which might have overlap with Faceless so perhaps not) or even Sylath Worshipers.

My only real complaint that I've seen so far is that the game seems a bit GRAND in terms of units, with lots of flowy-flashy-overthetop-ness that I worry might get a bit distracting in the long run, but I can deal with it.  It's less pronounced in the gameplay videos.

I hate elementals, the best solution was found in H4 in Preserve- you have your common army and the Portal of Summoning is allowing you to recruit a small number of them every week.

For Academy - better leave this to their magic, this will be the most stupid idea to fill Academy with elementals or to make this town a mixture between elves and wizards because only one of them will be chosen for H6 core game.
