That would actually make them a prefect RPG material.
And btw. so they are basicaly the same to elves as the free cities are to the holy empire?

I suppose. And yes, with the difference being that the Sea Elves do not live in that big of communities, that their villages move and that they are less hostile to the Elves of Irollan than the Free Cities and the Empire are to eachother(as far as we know).

On scans from compendium there is a text about Dark Elves have several clans, each lead by child of Tuidhana. But later there are only three clans mentioned: Nightshard, Soulscar and Shadowbrand.
Are there more info about others or it is all what Ubsoft wanted to reveal to us in compendium as they have some plans for them?

Quote:
Well I think the word plane of magic and Spirit realm can be seen as very cloase. so not really a retcom IMHo. just text specification.

I wasn't talking about plane names. I was talking about "Vengeful spirits from a forgotten age, the Rakshasas have lingered on the fringes of Ashan for millennia." ...and after retcon they were created by mages.

Quote:
In your answer in the quiz you asserted that if a lich becomes powerfull and/or old enough he "simply" becomes a Vampire

Yes, I know what I wrote but that wasn't my point. The point was, according to lore, vampires are "born" from liches.

Quote:
Avonu, make note that Necromancy and the worshipping of the Spider Aspect of Asha are not the same thing. Yes, the Shantiri may have worshipped/depicted the Spider Aspect of Asha. But that does not make them Necromancers by default.

Of course not, but I wanted to point that basic of ncromancy was known long before Belketh found Revelation of Seventh Dragon manuscript.

Quote:
The six Duchies were the territories of the Human Clans that were united into the Empire. I.E. the Unicorn Duchy is the former territory of the Unicorn Clan ect.

Well, Sarah forged seven swords - one for Duke of each duchy and one for Emperor - so says Sword of Griffin and Sword of Wolf bios.
Of course this mean that Falcon duke has two swords (as duke and as emperor) but this seems unlikly.

Last question - what is the name of beholder-like creature (some elemental?) that can be seen on the page with manticore?
P.S. I would gladly buy the book if I could but in my country it will not be easy.

It has been suggested by Erwan that Dungeon is the faction the to-be-announced/named expansion will add to the current status quo. But no, the Compendium mentions only the Nightshard, the Soulscar and the Shadowbrand clans. And even that is briefly.

Of which I am well aware. However saying that Vampires are the "evolutions" of Liches, negates many aspects of evolution. And I, for one, would not advocate such a statement.

Which you do not do. You only point out via a piece of Datamined conversation-script that the worship of the Spider-aspect of Asha is a more ancient history. Not Necromancy. Sandro is there referring soley to the worship of the Spider Aspect.

I suspect, though I have no evidence for this, that the Seventh Sword is for the Duke of Stag. The Imperial province is created before the conversion of Brian I, meaning that at that time there were 6 duchies and the Imperial Province.

The Beholder-like creature is named the Shadow Lurker.
And though your profile does not state where you live, Amazon.com ships to virtually everywhere.

Scans? What scans?

Anyway just 3 quick questions.
Does the book have Tuidahna artwork?
Is the flame winged being you can see in the video the Valkyrie?
Is the old naga art supossed to be a creature/someone or it is just "there"?

It's one of Oliver Ledroit artworks. Probably just an illustration how first concept of naga looked like.

No, there is no artwork that depicts(to our knowledge, as not everything has captions) Tuidhana.
You can see the Valkyrie in the video at 2:29 above the bear.
As said, the old Naga artwork is one of LeDroit's early pieces. Which are in general more feel-pieces than depictions of what cal, will or should be in game.

The Compendiums says the Crimson Wizards found Carthal, not founded. What that means is that the Crimson Wizards effectively took over Carthal and turned it into a Free City / independant City-state.

I'm very sorry, but p. 57 second paragraph "The Crimson Wizards of Al-Rubit and their Beastman servants, now regected in favour of the Constructs, settled to the west and founded the city of Karthal on the cost of the Irisus Sea".
It says "founded", isn't it?

I does. However it says found on page 27. Which means that one or the other must be a typo. And given that Falagar in PotSS was sent as Envoy to Carthall, I am inclined to say that Founded was the typo, rather than Found.

Ok one stupid question
Why does one of you write Carthall and the other Karthal. Could it be two different cities or are those only typos

The correct way of spelling is Karthal. I know I deviated from that, which was unintentionally. I have a habit of misspelling things, like how I tend to misspel Irollan as 'Irrolan'. It is caused, I think, by the way I pronounce it mentally and my tendancy to write thing the way it should have been in Dutch to pronounce it that way. My appologies for this.

Nothing.  Even then they said that one needed to be a lich before being able to become a vampire. But the place on the specific tiers was mostl likely due to that being the way of in Heroes 3 and Nival getting the assignment not to devaite from that too much.

But Ubisoft was responsible for the story & setting, right?
Why would they choose to "play it safe" with Necropolis and then go and
turn Dungeon (and to a lesser extent, Sylvan) into a Warhammer rip-off?

Sorry for straying off-topic, I'm just curious.

It's not that off-topic. And I suspect that Dungeon and to a lesser extent Syllvan and Inferno weren't fully though out at that time, thus Nival was given more "artistic liberty". Which was why they were not that blatant a copy of Heroes 3, but rather that of Warhammer.

I think you answerd you question yourself. Even if Ubi did have the hand over the story. The game itself (this includes art direction) was done by nival.
At that time, they did not have such a complex background like now, Only few themathical scetches done by mr. Ledroit. And let us tell the truth, even now they would be hard to turn into models.

So Ubi could have said "This is what we would like" and point at Ledroit's work, but Nival could have said "This is what we can do" and show them their models. So there had to be some kind of a compromis. And thats why there were so many Warhammer inspirations/clones. Warhammer is one of the strongest franchises in fantasy, so it influences a lot of people and their opinions.
I woudl even say it was also a decision based on the fact, that both ubi and nival needed people to relate to the game, and puting in "Common" images of how things look was the easiest way to do this.

In genetal We could also say. that game implementations of different units should not be taken as facts.
For example the gryphon, which has been a Tier 4 unit in Heroes V, was a Champion in CoH and is an Elite in Heroes VI.
These things are just how the game works with them. Just look at the Champions in Heroes VI and what they have been in Heroes V. Cyclops was a Tier 7, Pit Fiend a Tier 6, A shadow dragon was a Tier 7 now he is a Boss, the same goes for Bone dragon. In Clash of heroes, Rakshasa, Titan and Pheonix were the same tier, In heroes VI they will be very different, if they will be.
