Either she wanted him to get jealous or she was just fishing for an ego boost. Some girls just like to play around and then poof! Your self-esteem is Gone!
At any rate don't worry and keep your eyes open If you socialize a bit you will increase your chances of meeting fun people and things will start to get rolling.
