I've heard Ebooks are basically computer screen with no light behind the monitor, so you can read outside. If that's true, I wonder why one can't simply modify a laptop to be able to do the same?
On that notion, I heard google have tried to pay their way into making library books online from libraries all over the world. At first I thought that sounded like an insane task, but in reality, you only need to hire a few thousands pr. country and it can be done in half a year with no pressure or anything.

Printing your own pages is also rather expensive. I was thinking on a school, a library, or something.

Reading books from a desktop or laptop sucks. Reading from a tablet (as in iPad or Android or Kindle) is just fine though.

@Forf: You heard wrong, or maybe you heard an oversimplification. E-ink technology is fundamentally different from LCD screens and other monitors, which is why reading one is so easy on the eyes.

More like: He's saying you want to get laid, so you're aiming for a relationship, while the relationship should be the goal in itself. If it works for you, like this: whatever. That attitude didn't serve me well, so I advise against it.
