The main feat of the conquistadors is the Spanish helmet, other dress is not specific only for them. I don't see that helmet.

So, I instaled new version on HotA on clean Heroes 3 complete, and when starting random map, I get these errors during loading:
Does anyone else have similar problems?

AFter I installed new Hota version, the game crashes instantly, when two heroes meet. I have HD mod 3.807u installed.
Sometime sooner I had the same problem, but successfully found a solution. But I forgot what it was. Maybe someone could help..

First let me congratulate the crew on the yearly patch release, and I let me give you my sincere admiration for this accomplishment of yours. Thank you.
I see a lot of new changes, additions and bug fixes that has been well worth the wait. It's not at all to say that all of the new parts have perfect polish yet or that changes shouldn't be made, but this is definitely another good step forward. The initial release instability is to be expected, so not really too surprising to me.
The gameplay must also have changed quite a bit judging by the new creature banks, new adventure map objects, new natural creature, new artefact combination, updated balance - and so on. It's quite exiting.
I'll try to refrain from commenting too strongly on the new or changed graphics at this point as I must allow some time to really let it sink in before blunting out strong opinions about it.
I still very much like the new Seer's Hut and Temple of Loyalty. The Satyr's Wineyard also look good. They all look to fit in quite nicely. However, I'm having doubt about how well the Experimental Shop, Skeleton Transformer and Wolf Raider Picket fit in judging by how they currently look like, but maybe I'll get more used to them after some time and/or more polish - it's quite possible and sometimes initial opinions do change to another shade after a while to be fair. We'll see.
The new Pikeman and Halberdier do look much better than the previous ones to me. Although, I can't really sense the hand shape of the lower arm. Maybe some added details is needed to highlight a hand shape of the lower arm glove. Edit2 And perhaps their face is a little too goofy because of the big nose? compared to when you for example look at some of the Cove creatures. The satyr looks really great and awesome, but maybe the arm does stand out a little too much, though. Edit1: Also, it kinda looks like he's holding the flute as if it was a gun in the resting stance. Maybe it's because of the shadow glitch beneath his hand.
The new restrictions on Fly and Dimension Date is truly great, well done.
I am sad about reading that the sanctuary has been removed on random maps. It was indeed a very situational object that might only rarely prove itself useful, however, this was also what made it special. Now we'll never find ourselves in a situation where a scout just reaches a sanctuary in enemy land and thus being able to scout another day and other similar circumstantial situations.
Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to getting more intimate with this patch and to play some random maps.

Happy new year and thanx for the update... I like the new orc, it's better than the old one now. About Halbardier it's good as it was and also good as it is now ^^
Some smaller issues:
-the Ironfist hasn't the shiny effect as all the other "set" artifacts
-the Satyr Problem is known
I would like:
-some more map decoration, a vineyard for the satyr Barrel would be nice, or something like a lookalike to a vineyard

How random are random maps
Hello guys, this is my first post in this community and I would ask for some help . I recently found out about HotA and what I saw I liked very much. My friend and I have been playing homm3 for many years and many fun hours were had and many bets were won/lost .
Now, the way we play is that it's always 1 on 1 on huge random map on highest possible difficulty. What we do is that we actually 'fish' for highest difficulty random map where starting area for both players is very small with scarce resources while rest of the map is extremely well guarded with big stacks of powerful creatures, many Dragon Utopias, powerful items being guarded and so on. Sometimes we spend a lot of time recreating random maps until we get one with said situation and with hardest possible start.
We were really happy when we found out about option for giant maps along with other changes. Our current problem with HotA though is that every single giant random map we tried is not really random. It's always the same 'layout' more or less, with huge starting area, a lot of resources, gold piles, and so on. Rest of the map isn't well guarded. Is there a way to actually get kind of the 'powerful' random map in HotA I mentioned above? Do I need to play through campaign to 'unlock' them? I know all random maps are based on certain scenario as a template, is there a way to force a certain kind of map to spawn every time?

To my knowledge, if you create a giant random map using a template without enough zones in it than the RMG will just generate larger individual zones. My suggestion would be to learn to read and edit template files and then create your own or simply use a copy of an existing template and make changes to it. It's basically just editing a simple text document that uses a specific layout.
A few pointer would be to download ERA II and simply extract it to get the 'Tools' folder. Use 'TextEdit' to edit a copy of another template. Many parts of the template is self explanatory, otherwise search the forum or google the answers. If you use HD mod then you'll find the template folder under '_HD3_Data/Templates'. Just make a new folder with a unique template name and copy an existing template to it and edit it. The game will then be able to read it, and you can select it in-game (HD mod feature).

What I did wonder about is that, in SoD, we would always get different results creating random maps. As in, it would always be something different regarding map layout, monster strength and so on. We would just keep creating until we get 'the right one'. In HotA, if we use giant map, it seems it always uses the same map as template, it doesn't seem randomized. You're basically saying I need HD mod to be able to chose template I want?

I would suggest WoG (in the Wake Of Gods) in that case, random maps differs a lot there. With some bad luck you start with some lvl6 monsters blocking the path to your woodmill, you may also start with 2 towns or maybe just with a town without a fort und you have to recruit from the surrounding creature housings. Also "hard" enemies means they rise some levels on the map on RMG it means underground and dirt areas could be covered with lvl6+ monsters all over. Also possible: The whole map is covered in artefacts.
BTW.: The shortcut Icon (orange HC symbol for Heroes Community) is gone in my shortcut bar. Happend after the 30th december in your database update.
