Naga Tanks, Evil Trees, Juggernauts and Dreadnaughts, what are those? Coming neutral creatures for HotA? Would be awesome if that was the case.

@ nik312: i forgot to let axolotl know that the sounds i made for his creatures only match up with my version of his creatures(meaning, i cut some unneeded frames, and i also tweaked their animation speeds in cranim.txt). i hope he is still able to use them. i cut most of the animations by half(on the naga tanks, the "evil" trees, and on the juggernauts/dreadnaughts. i also didn't make a shooting sound for the dreadnaughts, because my dreadnaughts don't shoot), to better flow with the existing creatures in homm3. the 1st half of the attack animation for the juggernaut/dreadnaughts i left, to give the(however brief) illusion of them "powering up" before the attack.

I'm not sure why you are telling me this and not him).

because you're a regular on hc and axolotl is far from anything close to that? are you not the ambassador, so to speak, of the HotA crew here? i was led to believe you were.

as i've mentioned before, i sent hcm's to both axolotl and vade parvis. the only reason axolotl answered my message, was because i notified you that he had a message here a second time. vade parvis's is still unanswered, even though i sent it the 22 of october, and have previously notified you about it. i would have sent you another hcm, but you deleted one of the hcm's without a reply, which led me to believe you weren't interested in communicating with me. which is fine, i don't take it personally. as long as there is someone from the HotA team who is willing to pass information to and fro, for fellow modders(i say fellow modders, because i'm not about to state that it would be anything close to a good idea to send every message from someone who had a question or critique. i'm sure you see enough of that here, filling up the HotA thread), that is fine by me and i'm sure, others who actually work on the game and are dedicated to improving it.

if you are not who i should be contacting to get a message to other members of the HotA team, then who is? because a reliable line of communication could prove beneficial for both the HotA crew and other modders.

Ah, yes. I see now. Ok, firstly - Axolotl is not the member of HotA crew for about 2 years by now (due to inactivity since 2011). I just notified him on df2 that he should check his hcm and thought that you two will find a way to comunicate further. Secondly - I don't delete messages here unless they expire by themselves. Thirdly, I was absolutely sure that Vade did contact you, when you mentioned only Axolotl in your second message. Now I notified him once more. And finally - I'm a representative of HotA crew, but not of each individual member. If you want to adress not the team as a whole, but some specific person for a personal reason I may notify him, but I won't have time to act as an instant messenger

i see. thanks for your answer. the rest of the HotA crew is a bear to get ahold of; i was hoping there was(or could be) some kind of easier relay. if not, i'll just have to be much more patient(although, most of the time, the reason i'm contacting is due to a time constraint). most of the time, when i contact members of any team, i'm only contacting to make sure that i'm not crossing any creative lines with whatever i'm doing, or to find out if they are doing similar work, so that way i don't waste my time doing something that someone else is doing and will eventually come out with. i have a LOT on my plate as it is.

sometimes, it's because i have work that they might find useful; or because i am simply a curious fan with an inquiry. after seeing that the team you're on tends to scrap great things, i always wonder what became of those scrapped things. i hate the idea of great resources being wasted.

Forge is the exception to doing repetitive work though, obviously. a million people could come out with Forge, and i'm still going to want my own version.

Well I would be thrilled to see Forge in HotA, but is a delicate matter, since a lot of people don't like it. I am curious about how the Jules Verne theme would have turned out if given the chance at the time, but this discussion would belong in another thread.

I would prefer another ice (viking town) or desert town (bastion/oasis like) a for forge I don't know, it may fit but it depends on much criterias like the biome around for example. There are only of the few medival/steampunk games I really like, the Wizardry series for example. Anyways MM5 also dealt with this stuff in case of "Sheltem" or "Corak". So the scenario is at least possible.

Official translation to other languages is not planned, but we'll probably try to make it more simple to create unofficial translations.

Much appreciated.
Make translations work same way like in original Homm3. I mean no Hota.dat and ability to override txt's in HotA_lng.lod

False positive?

HOTA - The most awesome Heroes III expansion. Thank you! I am looking forward for HotA team's next releases if/when they will be ready.

Now, I have a small problem here, I hope is a false positive: my antivirus deleted "hota_launcher.exe" saying is a trojan.

I found reports that other antivirus programs found this file harmful. Details here: http://www.herdprotect.com/hota_launcher.exe-d623af0cf51a2a966a652bdace5264e497c52929.aspx

If antiviruses say "HOTA is troyan", than it likely is.

No, many antiviruses has annoying tendency to detect "malwares" with h3 fan made content, so it's OK TyrAntilles, it is false positive, you can ignore the "threat" and all will be fine.

Oh come on. No serious anti virus will report that. By serious: not a free antivirus you downloaded in a zip. Those are botched to report every executable as a Trojan so you feel protected.

Get Kaspersky if you want to really know what you download.

I was pretty sure the file provided with HotA installer was clean, but I didn't know if it wasn't infected later, so I reinstalled HotA and my antivirus (Emsisoft) reported it just the same. Then I scanned it with AVG and AVG reported it clean. So it was indeed a false positive reported by Emsisoft AV.
Thank you for the answers.

Some anti virus reports infections if only touch an executable. You have to remember that Heroes3.exe is a well known executable in all anti virus programs, when it sees a similar executable with a different signature (especially when the original is known) then it just might want to report it as infected. HotA have altered that executable directly and it uses "tricky" ways to inject its own dll, it has the dll name directly in the code section, when the loadlibrary function reads from the code section, that too may just want to tempt the anti virus to report a false one. The best thing is to never touch the executable, and just alter it with a different process during run time.

Anti virus programs assumes that you're following their way of programming, they don't account for any way of programming. There are things you simply can't do to avoid triggering them. The only thing is to report the new executable as a false positive.
