Big thanks!

Map editor crashes after the update. Is it just me or does anyone else have this problem as well?

"Exception

  Code:        EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION

Tried reinstalling. Still the same problem.

As usually in this case - try running with administrator priviliges.

Thanks, but I don't think I can. I'm running it through Wine on a Mac. Not sure why it isn't working. It always did before.

Why does HotA require administrative rights anyway? It's a bit weird..

HotA doesn't require anything. It's your Windows security settings force (or not) run in administrator mode.

I thought it might be cool if we posted some pictures of the new update for discussion, or simply just for sharing.

The new terrain 'Highland' can be seen below. It also has it's own music track. In case you thought the 1.5.0 announcement picture was of Grass land, it fooled me at first. I like to know more about this terrain if anybody can chime in on it. It also means that implanting a town like Forge, in principle, would be more feasible to do justice to. In any case, very cool stuff here.

Edit: Ah, the new terrain replaces Grass for the Conflux town, silly me. I suppose that was obvious in hindsight.

That second pic is necessary to understand the difference between highland and grass.

1.5.0 update is available!

The "observable future" has arrived!

Before the release notes here are a few clarifications:
- The update 1.5.1 is planned to come in the next few days, once we finish some minor content that didn't make it into the release
- We couldn't find the time to highlight some content from this release before it happened, but it will be done anyway.
- The official documentation is not yet fully updated - for now you can examine the full changelog below

This update is the biggest to happen since the beta-release. In shortest terms possible, here are only a few new additions:

+ Fully functional visual template editor that allows to create and edit Random Map Generator templates of the new extended HotA format.
+ New terrain for the Conflux town - Highlands. The first successfull attempt in adding the new terrain in the history of Heroes III add-ons and mods
+ New visitable objects and decorations unique to the Highlands terrain
+ Spell research. The mechanism that fixes the everpresent problem of Mage Guild: its inadequacy for providing spells, that the player actually needs.
+ Full differentiation of hero models by their class and gender both in and out of battle.
+ A feature that lets one pick the specific method of attack for certain creatures (like shooters, casters or Harpies).

The official links of HotA are unfortunately not available at the moment, but will be added to the post once their functionality is restored

Sublime work, thanks for your efforts HotA team. I have a question, is the return of Galthran as a pickable hero for Necro intended? If so it should be mentioned in the changelog, as it is one of the biggest balance changes of the patch imo.

Edit:

"[-] Fixed a bug where Cove wouldn't be included in the Random Faction setting for the player" should be altered to include Conflux as well

''[+] Orb of Inhibition and Recanter's Cloak are now banned by default''

Wow, that's a quite a radical change for competitive play, if I understand it correctly. It will certainly change a lot about how people view and play the game. It obviously makes magic/resistance a lot more reliable to use against another human player in combat. I'm all down for it, personally. It feels fresh and new. But it will have to be explored fully over time before really being able to judge the change fairly.

Galthran is still disabled by default in map editor and in RMG. He is enabled only on Jebus Cross template.

Never seen this before. I bought a ship beforehand but I can't get another one. Is it supposed to be like this or is it a bug?

Shortly, Jebus is too fast and specific template for Necropolis, so this town is very weak on this template. That's why Galthran was returned there. On the other templates Necropolis doesn't need such boost.

Yes, it is bug. Currently I cannot repeat it, but I've noticed.

About map editor crash: you can try to set the editor as default program for h3m-files and open it via opening file then. This crash is probably configuration-dependant, for now we don't know how to fix it, but we will try.

Is anyone taking care of the Facebook page ? For a new and waited 1.5.0 release things are awfully quiet there.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately that didn't do the trick either. I can only hope it resolves itself along with 1.5.1.
