Now that would be a cool addition to HOTA, as 3DO never made a water spell on the level as Implosion, Armageddon or Chain Lightning.

And secondly it would be nice to get some new spells, but I don't know how hard they'd be to make or if any new spells would be useful.

TLDR: Water needs a spell that compares to Implosion etc

I don't know why I didn't even think about posting some info. And now I feel really ashamed.


This is a first HotA show-tournament, organized by twaryna. All games are obligatory streamed from both sides and twaryna with guests commentates on it (though only in Russian, but you can still watch the games and I usually answer the questions asked in English when I'm among guests)

The closest game will begin in about half an hour. Maretti (current world champion) vs Stinger (very famous Russian player)

The idea of 4th/5th level water spell that could inflict some damage seems very appealing, would totally love it and I think it's missing from the game due to a lack of a "fit" idea ... at that time.

Take "Implosion" for example ... horrible animation in the original version of the game ...

Hello. why you dont like wog? dont like commanders? stack exp? stack growth? mithrils or something? you can disable all of these, and you can make only the scripts you like to work. eagle eye, mysticism, learning, and especially scholar were made more impact-full into the game. also specialty enhance, navigation, and warfare skill combination. also having choice to listen to which huts. Also phoenix reduced growth is more balance

I agree some scripts and not so pleasant, and some others are imba, but you can disable them all. I kind hated WOG in the beginning as well, until I knew I can select the options I like. Not to mention, they also fixed armorer+ air shield bug with turrets.

sorry for off-topic but wog is so good.

anyway, about HotA, was armorer air shield bug fixed there too?

@Orc: HotA also fixes armourer air shield bugs and nerfs Conflux considerably (e.g. Phoenix growth turns into additional Horde building)

I can't believe I never noticed there was no 5th level Water Spell that's like Armageddon in my 15 years of playing HOMM3 haha.

Each object must not only exist, but serve a certain purpose. Basilisk pit doesn't really have it in terms of gameplay. It is not too interesting in terms of tactics - simple full-contact without much space for mindgames against fast basilisks. It is not needed in terms of object_value-reward niche. There are already enough middle-game banks for similar reward. Yet, there are other niches that need to be filled. It is better to remove yet unneeded/boring object until we decide which place could it fit adequately enough.

Ivory Tower is not simply OP. It is dispersive. It is either riddiculously game changing or utterly useless, depending only on a random dice throw. Such objects are obviously harmful and irritating for PvP gameplay.

As for Pirate Cavern things are even more obvious. Cove doesn't need to be any stronger than it is now. And plus to that - high number of different conservatories dilutes the power of stacks, making key gameplay elements much lower in value. So, no new conservatories will ever be introduced to RMG. We have intentionally reached the maximum critical number on those.

Just a random thought thrown right out in the open:

wouldn't it be cool to play an entire map played almost exclusively on water? It feels as if this could become a possibility as HotA develops further.

Tomes of Magic Composed Artifact

Probably it has already been suggested...
When one gets all the Tomes of Magic togheter, a composed artifact would be great to have.
I didn't thought of any specific purpose to this but still it should be a nice addition if  one would get a special bonus : extra spell(that you wouldn't normaly get)/or could cast 2 spells per round...

While it's a nice idea, I think a better bonus would be to combine it into a single tome, occupying just a single slot in the Hero's inventory rather than four. But I do not know if the game code allows for such an artifact.

Or simply make Ultimate Tome Of Magic, containing all spells.

Something similar could be done with magic orbs and some kind of additional bonus could be applied for example another 50% more damage to each magic school or reduced spell casting cost.

I'd also like to see some more H2 artifacts with their original properties. Cursed artifacts would be a very nice addition as well.
