Accurate shot seems to be overpowered
I attacked a strong unit (8-9 death kinghts IIRC) with my pirates, and they only killed 2 units with their ranged shot.
On the other hand 4 more units were killed with Accurate shot!

I'm not totally sure how accurate shot works, I guess it's a random amount of units, somehow randomized independently of the damage.
IMO it should be changed that you can't kill more units with Accurate shot than half the units you killed normally

Are you sure? It is supposed to be dependent on the stack size.
A stack capable of killing 4 DKs would have killed more than 2 DKs in the first place.

Thank you. I checked with all of the creatures in Cove town and none of the creatures have such long descriptions that it wouldn't fit, with neither of the two fonts.


But there are others whose description won't fit e.g. Conflux creatures.

(*) The ability is triggered after a shot: each creature in an attacking stack has a 3% chance of killing a creature in the attacked squad, but the total number of killed creatures cannot be more than (number of creatures in an attacking squad)*0.03 (rounded up).

So per 100 Sea Dogs they'll kill 3 top cards of a stack. I'm not sure about the second part, but it seems the same to me.

It's basically a ranged death stare that is 3% instead of 10% of the Gorgons. Growth taken into account, it's a quite a powerful ability, no doubt, but OP? I dunno.

Edit: It's worth noting at Accurate Shot doesn't work in melee, so it's actual pretty unique in that way.

Accurate shot is nice, but not OP. Usually it kills 1-2 enemy units for me, so it's useful for killing units level 4+ (especially in the first weeks of play). Though so far I had max around 40 Sea Dogs in my army, so I don't know how it works when there are 100+ of them...

You have to be a little more specific than that, but if you just want to play an island map than choosing 'default' should do it.

I had around 140-150 Sea Dogs, and yeah, I'm sure about the numbers.
2 kills on shot, and another 4 on Accurate Shot.
I didn't have unluck or any other negative modifiers on my stack, maybe it was against an even stronger unit though (Behemots maybe?)

The 3% doesn't sound bad on first look, still, I found it odd to be able to achieve more damage with the Accurate Shot than with the base shot itself

Probably you attacked a unit with high defense, and since the pirates are level 3 anyways, it's normal they may not kill a lot with their normal attack.

Obviously, in a big battle you'll do your best to block pirates (moving a unit close to them, blind, beserker, etc...).

But they are fine imo.

Well, Sea Dogs are more dangerous then Gorgons, because they are ranged. Then again they have only 16 hp, so a spell or a faster ranged attacker or blocker can topple them (kinda like with Ramparts Elves). In case of Gorgons, because they are slow, you can just evade them for a few turns and focus on more dangerous units...

BTW I've noticed an interesting AI tweak. Sometimes when an AI unit gets second move with high Morale, it picks the wait option, and moves later. I don't recall sth like that before I've installed HotA.

Yeah, I know that Hamachi works fine with HotA. I meant built-in support for VPN, so that we wouldn't need to use external programs. This would be really comfortable.

I suggested n2n for this because it is free in the sense that you can use it without restrictions, even inside your self-made programs.


Does Cape of Silence look as an ancient Aztec helmet only to me?

Only now that you said it, honestly. But it doesn't overly look like a hat/helmet.

I like the idea of implementing some kind of matchmaking service. If they could redirect the implementation of the already included Internet Service function in Heroes 3 to a service of their own making then that'd make much more sense than anything VPN based, I think. If so, it might be possible to create a launcher based service with IRC communication which could also connect clients and then launch the game together. It has been done with other games. Google 'CnCNet' for an example.

My brother was trying to put Cape of Silence on the head. I wasn't sure what it is at the first glance either.

At least we agree that a new muliplayer option would be useful. Let's hope that HotA Team will find something interesting.

I have a problem my game no longer works when I open the game the error and the game is in Russian, so I can not play! and my map editor does not work, what can I do to solve this?

I`ll try to be more specific. So a map suitable for hot seat, game coop if possible, preferably XL in size and containing water, with challanging properties, strong monsters, lots of stuff, providing as much challange us possible.
If you guys can, you can list other non-sea map templates too, whom are fitting the criterias.
