Quote: the reason why multiplayer PvP H3 is still a thing a
We mean that these changes people who don't care that "competitive multiplayer", being it a thing or not (which are more than 90% of players). We don't say this "ruins competitive", rather than it restricts the magic and variety of single player experience for something we don't care about.

At least many of them are used in one of the campaign missions, in a context that makes me think they added them so as to be able to allude to the Tomb of VARN when designing that map.

At this point, those guys should hire an agent and contact big gaming companies, SoD sold great with one new (and bad) town, here we have 2 exceptional towns + HD mod simultaneous turns + amazing coded templates, there is no reason this is distributed like an ordinary mod.
To those in the know, HotA would look amazing on a resume.

It is mentioned by a few reviewers on both Steam and GOG, so there is a possible market there. OTOH, HOTA is free RN, so if they go official, how would that work? Keep the older version free, and turn future updates into DLCs/expansions?

For anyone curious, I just did some testing and it appears that in Factory's Mage Guild you can't learn Curse, Death Ripple, Animate Dead, Armageddon, Fire Elemental, Sacrifice and Water Elemental. (It's weird cause if you look at the town in map editor, it looks like they can learn all spells.)

all this for "competitive online gameplay", but tavern hunting for powerful heroes was mad fun, not to mention, cheesing the AI with dragogeddon was a whole strategy...
Yeah those two, plus the change to the Mana Vortex and Stables, feel like they are cutting a little too close to the core of the game people love and turning it into something else. (Whereas on the other hand I think they were a little over-cautious with the first aid skill )
Here's hoping they allow modding in the future so people can enjoy the wonderful additions of the HotA team without worrying about the competitive scene.
Hota is very anti-modding, so nope. ERA and VCMI exist for a reason. And I suspect hota team straight removes SoD versions of most mechanics by altering code.

I donīt think Hota can go public with money involved. Ubisoft is no joke.

Of course not, what they're saying is to try to convince Ubisoft to buy it from them and maybe sell it as a third expansion. I don't believe they'll find a customer but instead run into a lot of problems if they try it, though.

Look, where is quality, there is potential money. Those who enjoy Civilization game heard about Kael. He was simple modder, but his mods were so nicely done that Stardock hired him for further sequels of the game.

Sorry, I knew I was mischaracterizing your POV when I wrote that but I was referring to the guy after.
And I agree, it's a nice entry in any curriculum. Still, I wouldn't run to Ubi with it...

I really hope that no any company hire hota team, money corporative interest are very different than fans/community interests, they can ruin the game as they did in the past.
Best solution is something like patreon (i know is banned in russia).
Now they have the necessary prestige earned in the community, they have been working and releasing high quality content throught the years.
Even if Ubisoft hire JVC, the game will not be the same, Heroes/MM series were good when JVC was the boss.
Even if they contract HOTA TEAM, in a way like Bioware did with BaldursGate3, HOTA Team have no experience creating a new engine, so it will be and adventure.
Fans have proved that they are the only who provided good and proper content to the game.

Free! But the rule when a newer generation group modifies the balance.. The same Capablanca or Fischer.. Ok, the chess federation uses Fischer's different rules*, but it mayn't 100% official.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fischer_random_chess Common chess game and rule are using in tournament, if UbiSoft interested in HotA, so it can't work due to special rules.. If HotA can do engine rules to children, etc Engine rule? The same H3 complete or other games like Settlers without rule book, it's only engine says what can do or not.. Now's adult fans, etc they played from RoE to VCMI.. and they chose HotA rule, but an official., When some arranges tournament, so original engine rule.. An example H8, if is coming.. They pay money to winner.. It's me.. Other if you played long time with special rules, so your skill is going to rusty..
*very hard to you.. and fast rust.. Thus only grandmasters play Capablanca's or Fischer's..

It would be a perfect scenario. But I'd agree for just % from sellings if there was any legal agreement

Yeah is pure speculation but there are some signals.
"all current HotA Crew members and all current and former members of the WoG Team, Core WoG and NTG." this message is from the original creators of Bastion, that restarted the project 3 years ago, and let the HOTA team be testers.

Having experienced both WOG and HOTA, I can say that, while I definitely appreciate the gameplay adjustability of WOG, the HOTA team does a marvellous job in assuring that every new object (be it a creature, a structure, and artifact, etc.) added fits the visual style of the game, rather than just being yanked out of another game, and dumped into this one without modifications.

Some speculation:
Based on the campaign, the Factory's associated polity's area seems to be just to the west of the MM8 map, perhaps even extending slightly into it (based on the references to Ravage Roaming and Zog). By the time of MM8, however, there is no indication that Nova Terra is active. Perhaps, then, the events of the penultimate scenario destabilised the commonwealth, causing either a collapse or a civil war by the (relatively near) point of MM8. Either way, the Alvarian Merchant's Guild wouldn't be looking to recruit them into the alliance nor would the Grand Overseer of the New Lands Commonwealth be in a position to take advantage of the chaos caused by the Day of the Destroyer.
