Yeah! I was predicting a line-up close to Rampart, Stronghold and Cove but it looks more like Tower even if the forth Armorer specialist has better starting skills then Mephala and Neela.
And one of the "improvements" (to witch I even agree with) probably screw some of my maps. Now you can't get experienced heroes in tavern (not sure if this applies to your own dead/dismissed heroes) and I've used InviteTavern tweak to established special conditions that count on dismiss and rehire to make main hero fight dozens of battles first day.

Be sure to check out my thread to see how the new lineup fares against the competition.

My only complaint would be that the entire roster of Factory heroes lacks imagination. The spellcasters are just boring +3% per level dudes; where's the Eovacius kind of creativity?

What a pleasant Christmas and New Year gift!
The list of changes (and SoD bugfixes!) is astonishingly long. Airships, improved First Aid Tents, fixed Mana Vortex, many new graphics and vastly improved editors are waiting for us to discover. Big thanks to the HotA crew for this impressive achievement!
I am looking forward to trying out Factory and new maps, listening to the sound effects of Cove and Factory and finding out what a Subterranean hole is (a one-way portal to the underworld?).

Hmm so I just looked at Factory's Mage Guilds, in the map editor and it appears that Factory can learn ALL spells, even Death Ripple and Animate Dead, is this correct?

Trying the new 1.7.0 version of HotA. Over all, I like it. However, few things I consider strange:

Mechanical units are immune to mind spells, but not to stone gaze. If I can't blind a mechnical unit, I shouldn't be able to stone gaze it either.

Considering airships: if I'm being poor and I can't afford to buy an airship, the airship yard just tells me that I can't afford it but it doesn't tell me how much it costs. Shipyards do tell me how much boats cost even if I don't have enough resources to buy it.

Another thing: I noticed that when I disembark an airship, I can do it even if I've run out movement points. This probably shouldn't be possible (I assume we are meant to mimic boats embark / disembark behavior here...)

Factory is out, let's go!

Thank you for Hota team for reaching the huge milestone this is! After the patch of screenshots released during the summer time, and news pointing out that Factory seemed to be in pretty good shape, I didn't let my hopes get too high, but I felt slightly confident that this year might be different, and we would get to play a new town after a long wait. Great tribute for Docent Picolan and for the whole community.

Homm3 is still going very strong after 25 years!

I'm also a little surprised that the map roster shrunk.

I'd expect HotA devs to expand the default map pool supplied with the installer, not reduce it.

A few expert/impossible tier maps were removed entirely. Huh.

I mean sure, you can just DL them yourself, but...

Yeah, Factory's hero roster seems to be sort of mixed bag, and both goods and weird ways. One thing that instantly caught my eye was that Factory has 3 creature specialists in Artificer slots. Traditionally speaking, the creature specialties has been under might heros, with an  exeptions being made when the creature itself is somehow "magic based." Also, whereas First aid tent mastery has previously been given to magic heroes, the one wielding the tent is now a might hero.

Personally I don't see an issue here. In this point, there are 180+ heroes in the game. I rather have unusual design choices than repeating heroes with very similar choices of skills and such. However, the thing I dislike here is that he starts with Leadership. Now, the would be nothing wrong with that, but since the Diplomacy is a rare skill to be had, now only two might heroes start with it - and end up having the exact same other skill.

Now, there's really nothing strange here, I would even say this makes a lot of sense in both gameplay and lore reasons. Henrietta is Halfling, and Halflings have the niche of being lucky in Homm3. Really not surprised to see a leader halfling with that combination of skills. Also, from gameplay point of view, now other heroes can atleast be considered for an optimal starting hero, as other heroes bring better secondary skill sets to the table.

That sure is underwhelming from gameplay point of view, at least there's some uniqueness here. Whereas Ballistics is a bad skill, it's a bit surprising this is only the second might hero that starts with the skill.

This is indeed super strong hero, could even be the greatest hero in the game, altrought making that call will be easier when we have better understanding when we can see what skills (and especially magic skills) the new hero types will prefer. What I must say thou, that I feel this hero's potrait doesn't seem very natural when compared to other heroes in the game. There are few heroes that I felt don't exactly capture the classic touch, but the majority of the hero pictures are top notch.

Wynona and Dury are the Overpowered.
In my opinion Automatons are the best creature in the faction. (day 2 you have it)
I'm surprised that his town have up to 5 level magic tower, it must be 3 to be more lore friendly

it says that the map editor file can not be found. I only have access to the campaign editor.

I hear this hero Eovacius is weird or OP or something, but I don't know how to see him.

I opened the Map Editor, went to Map Specifications, made sure he is enabled, and he is, but when I spawn two Factory Might and Magic heroes on the map, among the list of names, Eovacius is not present. How can I spawn that hero on the map so I can see what the big deal is?

Is he some campaign-only hero that is only available in the campaigns? Because I don't believe that was the case with the Cove campaign. I think there every hero was available to be spawned on a custom map.

Ehm, Eovacius is a standard Cove Navigator, he has been there for 5+ years...

Heard some antivirus suites don't like its exe file for whatever reason. Maybe yours has axed it.

Are you sure about that? I checked and I could find all of the maps that were there before the update plus some new ones. Which ones are missing in your opinion?
