New graphics for WoG

Planning to replace all mediocre graphics in WoG, it's about time. I would prefer that all new objects are animated also. The new objects must have same passability and def size, to match the already done maps and mods using them. The objects may not keep same name, but must do same actions. For example, the skull eye will find you any artifact on map, the new objects doesn't have to be a skull but to suggest by his layout same action.

I have some candidates, a very few are already done. If any has good quality material to share, please contribute. If any is willing to help by making even one from the list, he is welcome and his name will forever shine I don't know where.

TEST BETA VERSION (1 mb)
Treasure column.

SKULL EYE

Original/objects proposed

I need a skull.

TRANSYLVANIAN TAVERN /HOUSE OF THE BAT.
One is red, the other is blue, they use same object in wog.

SUMMONING STONES

ARTIFICER

ADVENTURE CAVE

The last is already made by Astaroth.

WATER/AIR/EARTH/FIRE MUSHROOMS

Not need to keep mushrooms, nodes, circles or else will do same thing. Already done by Astaroth

ARCANE TOWER

DEATH CHAMBER

BATTLE ACADEMY

PALACE OF DREAMS

SCHOOL OF WIZARDRY

Last already done by Astaroth

VENUS BLESSING

BANK

The remaining objects a few later.

Good riddance to the Transylvanian Tavern/House of the Bat, Skull Eye, Death Chamber, Adventure Cave. The others are already fine, IMO. Btw, don't you guys think some of the alternatives are too high-resolution for H3? Shouldnt the styles match?

Will wait for release.
PS Elven town from Disciples I already met somewhere in objects packs.
Some of this graphics need to be resized IMHO (to smaller versions - to fit other stuff).

1. living skull: never liked the WoG version. that stone idol doesn't really work either, but i could make a new one(it was in my plans anyway), and then show it here, to see if hc likes it better than the old.

2. transylvanian tavern/house of the bat: i have already replaced both(both with my old versions, and different, newer ones), but the ones you display here are definitely superior to mine. i could shrink them and tailor them more fitting to HoMM3, if you want.

3. summoning stones: i've been meaning to replace the WoG versions myself, just haven't gotten around to it yet. imo, the druid portal looks more like a portal than summoning stones, but i guess it could work for either. to be honest, i'm not satisfied with the newer version pictured on the right, either. i'll look through everything i have, if i find something useable, i will post it here for feedback.

4. artificer: have never used it in-game, but the graphic does need replaced. either one of those two new ones pictured would be great for it, i think. again, i could shrink and tailor those, if you want.

5. adventure cave: i've already fixed the old WoG one(twice, actually. the last time was in the last 7 days). i'll upload a picture of what it looks like(and any others i have already made) in my next post here. as for the two new ones: the one on the left isn't the correct angle, and will not look right in-game. the one on right isn't cavernous enough to actually be used as-is; however, that one can be added to a mountain, like my newest dwarven treasuries.

6. water/air/earth/fire mushrooms: i've never used them. not sure what could be used as a replacement, either. i would agree that they need replaced, though.

7. arcane tower: the original WoG version looks nice, but the newer version looks even better. the new one doesn't appear to need tailoring, except maybe at the base, for it to better fit on multiple terrains more easily.

8. death chamber: the first two graphics never made sense to me, as they are more statues than anything a hero could enter(and become trapped in a fight to the death in). the next two graphics are the same way, they are more statues than something a hero could enter. the last graphic looks good, but it might need some tailoring to give the impression of a "death chamber". that said, i have one that i've already made, it'll be shown in my next post, as well, for feedback from the community.

9. battle academy: never used it, but i like the older graphic. the newer one(while it could serve a purpose for something else), doesn't say "battle academy" to me. it says more like "statue of warfare", or something akin to that. maybe it can be used/scripted as a new object?

10. palace of dreams: haven't used this one either. while the old graphic doesn't portray a palace of "dreams", the newer graphic doesn't say "palace" to me. although it is still a good graphic, and would be useable after some tailoring to better fit the HoMM3 world. i would suggest a different graphic entirely. the idea of a new def for this could have some very nice possibilities... (i'm brainstorming already )

11. school of wizardry: i agree, the WoG version needs to be replaced. the graphic next to it is very nice, however, it would look better as a lookout tower(like the redwood observatory and pillar of fire). the rest of the graphics look nice, but don't say "school of wizardry" to me. i do have another graphic as a possiblity, i'll post it next.

12. venus blessing: i've always wanted to replace this particular WoG graphic. the replacement you have pictured next to the old is top-notch, very nice indeed. i could shrink and tailor that one, as i do not have a graphic to replace that at the moment.

any of these objects i can help on, just let me know what you think. as i said, i will display other possibilities in my next post here, for feedback.

I agree with Artu. It is not that I don't find the objects beautiful but those Death Chambers are closer to the H4 "3D" style then H3.
All the traditional Heroes 3 objects were much simpler.

I've seen what a great map designer can do with the strange objects (just take a look at Salamadre's "Stargate Atlantis") but if it was me who were trying to design a map they would look like I had posted a photo over a cartoon...

This. The last one is the only one that makes sense, also it looks terrain friendly.

Thanks for feedback. I see Fred did not entirely understand my previous post: I don't care if it looks as a death chamber, adventure cave, palace of dreams or battle academy: WoG team named their scripts following the objects they had layout, not viceversa. What we need is an object which suggest the action it does, then the name will be changed.

Palace of dreams let you gamble, it is sorta casino. Battle academy sells skills or stats, so it can also be named Training academy, Warfare for the noobs, Rambo Dojo, etc. The living skull located artifacts, so does not need to keep name, a def with strange eyes moving around will make it. Something like this, actually the gif does not contain all the combinations he can use, just the basics.

All those objects need animation, using whatever material you have. Heroes 3 already has very nice animation material, from spells, waterfalls, fire camps. it does not matter from where, just the result.

For example, one could create a death chamber using those 3 materials:

no, i'm not on any drugs atm. i'm supposed to be going to college, remember? if a piss test is possible, i don't **** around with anything, not prescription drugs, cold drugs, or even poppy seed muffins.

as far as creating animation for objects, i'm not as good at that as i am at making stationary objects, at least for now(i'm still learning new things with layers). what i'm saying is, if it's animation you're looking for, you might be best choosing someone else, who has more experience with it.

and, if you were more clear in what you were saying, there wouldn't be any continuing misinterpretations on my end.

Oh, I am also a beginner in animations, but I got some interesting tutorial on tube. I wish I could just raise a finger and find someone already skilled, but you know how people are: very creative when critics time, absent when work time.

I will do it step by step.

BANK

I was thinking to a more unconformist approach; bank build in an old tree. I would replace hands extremities (remove foliage) by some claws opening/closing. The texture of letters isn't definitive, now that I have the right coordinates, I can work on.

Starting material:

After work (original bank/new one):

Other possibilities as starting material (not worked yet) but less fun:

Suggestions, bad idea, go on, you suck?

i sincerely hope you aren't referring to me, as i have no problem doing work. it's pretty evident by how much i've progressed in regards to my work shown on DeviantArt.

i thought that at first you just wanted to upgrade the current graphics, not animate them. the only things that i can think of that i've ever animated(that came out decent) were my early jack 'o lanterns, and some of the objects for my Fear faction's haunted terrain. i still have to fix the haunted house, as the animation is flawed.

as far as animating anything else, i am at a loss of ideas. i like the spinning dollar sign, lol, i just don't think it looks better than the old Bank. imo, the old Bank just needs to be lightened a bit, maybe sharpened for detail(the castle, i mean). if you are wanting to animate every single object(ala astaroth's work), you will find yourself hard-pressed to be original for each one.

anything you want done that is stationary, i can do. as far as animation goes, i don't really have ideas. i know simple things can be applied in layers, but more complicated things take more work, and better ideas than i have, on the objects. mostly, i am inspired by darker ideas, and lean toward demonizing things when i animate them. i can't demonize these objects, as i'm already doing that for my Fear faction work.

but if someone has the ideas, maybe i could do something. it depends. i don't want to put out anything i would consider sub-standard. i'm anal retentive that way.

The tree with the dollar symbol looks perfect.
I love the others, I would say they are much more in the H3 context that some of the objects above.

On the other hand, if u really substitute most of the objects WoG uses everything will became the aproximatly the same style so no problem with mismatches.

Do you think it would be possible to change also the looks of traditional H3 objects, like utopias, universities and tombs?
That way you would have gaved another look to the H3 editor, all objects matching each other at your own personal taste. I think it would probably be great but probably represents to much work to be viable.

The old bank can be the new Transylvanian Tavern.

I think the dollar symbol has no place in H3 world, it's medieval game with gold and the $ simply does not fit.
