Heroes VI was era of Ubisoft pushing very hard their DRM policy. Thankfully, after gamers' outrage, they only require one-time activation. From my experience with Might & Magic X and Rayman Legends I can assure you that Internet connection is only required to activate their games on Uplay.

That is true, but H5 has much (if far from all) of the data readily available in text-files, that can be directly accessed and edited. I'm not sure that will be the case with H7? But we can hope.
which leads back to my previous post. We need to have the game first so see how actually moddable is it.

No, Sandro deservers a full article dedicated to none other than him  .
He's one of my favorite heroes in H6, and although his campaign was a bit short (only 2 missions), I really enjoyed his personality, his cunning, scheming abilities, and his motives for doing what he did.
If Ashan is ever going to end, I sure hope it will be because of him .

They won't put Ashan in danger, so they need to make sure the lore doesn't allow Sandro to come even close to destroying Ashan .

Sandro is Ashan's Lucifer. He revolts against the current state of things.
And it is nice how they tie with him the old worlds.
So, these other world might have been Enroth and Axeoth and not the spirit world, meaning that Sandro is indeed imprisoned in Ashan.
Does that mean that the dragon gods are creational parasytes to the ancients like bacteria are to us?
And if Ashan is ever destroyed, it will be by Sandro!
Lastly, could the events of dark messiah and the release of demons possibly give Sandro the power he needs to crack Ashan and let the void seep in?
It is like Sandro is the incarnation of this community in the game that tries to destroy Ashan whereas the Dragon Gods and the people of Ashan (developers) are fighting back
