But the 'ways' of the Dragon Gods, Elrath in particular along with his angels, can be questioned by him. The priests blindly believe in the Light, and Sandro rapidly brings them back down to earth and shows them just how faulty that belief can be. He is aware that the dragon gods exist, but that doesn't mean his arguments are invalid . If the priests can't defend their faith with words, Sandro is around the corner to use that against them. That's why they went for plan B: imprison him, punish him, torture him, like good ol' Christianity/Inquisition of old . That's the perfect proof that the priests had lost the debate. They don't care about talking anymore, they just want to break him and make him confess.

I wonder what exactly were his arguments. Because "the dragon gods arent real" couldnt be it. Maybe "the dragon gods arent actually gods" but even that is pushing it because, sure, you can depower them by stop believing in them but it requires a snowton of people forgetting about them to the point that its not feasible without magic. And following Elrath path does lead you to a nice afterlife in his side.
Sandro is basically a troll snow party ruiner.
