Ubi is always looking for the opportunity to reuse older artworks, Raven's portrait is just another example There are a lot of elements one can draw from a single concept artwork, like for instance the decoration elements for one unit, the weapon for another, the face for a hero portrait etc.

A: They aren't Scrapping the pre-H6 Necropolis, it's just during this period of time in the Lore Necropolis is going through a religious cult phase.
Some elements of the design from H5 are being removed due to similarities to other franchises and copyright laws, etc. Getting sued is not a good move. This has all been said though numerous times and I am not really earning my QP here so next point.
B: Its different. Its more original than the idea of 'power hungry lich' which has been done time and time again. Originality is hard achieve these day it seems and I think rather that coming out with entirely new ideas we tend to mingle old ideas together and see what happens. So here we have religious necromancers who think they are good. It may not be to some peoples tastes but at least the Franchise is doing its own thing and not copying others. However different does not necessarily mean good, which brings me onto...
C: Religious fanatics are scary. Necropolis is scary. They work well together. The idea that a corruption of something 'good' like tenants of Asha, can bring something so twisted and dark is not a bad one. This all depends on how it is executed though and we won't know that until the game gets released. In addition having different phases Necropolis goes though makes it more interesting. Having the same civilisation unchanged for 1000s of years is rather dull. Though that said I will concede they do seem to go though more changes than most other factions which is strange for a people who is said to be timeless. So I don't think the Spider Cult is the crux of peoples issues though. I think the main problem is one of the ascetics.
D: This is more difficult for me to argue as I do prefer allot of the H5 designs, but over the top spider designs work well for powerful single minded religious fanatics even if it is impractical looking. As far as I can see Spider "Stuff" like legs is part of their art, like wings are for Haven, so it is natural to see a lot of it around. As this is magical fantasy you can get away with a degree of impracticality while still not suspending disbelief. If this were a cop drama, you probably could not do this  . Personally I prefer to merge impractical looking ideas with practical ones (hence my spider town design (darn I love blowing my own trumpet )). So while I think maybe some of the spider stuff should be toned down, that is not the same as saying the whole Spider-Cult is a bad idea. And now for shorter points.
E: I think people are looking back with rose tinted spectacles. Heroes 4 design for Necropolis was a giant Skull and the Vampire wears a Bow Tie (and yet that H4 Necropolis turned out to have the best Necro storyline so far IMHO)! In comparison I don't think the spider cult designs are that bad!
F: This criticism of H7 can be very strange, though perhaps that's because it comes from different people. People want new things that are different from the last designs, but new things that look like even older designs. There are complaints that the spider cult style looks too Warcraft, but not that the H5 Style looks too Warhammer. Liberal with Lore, but there will be complaints for continuity errors. You can't please everyone.

Redesigned lich and vampire would be great...sorta. I want to belive it would be a good thing, but we have no idea:
1. What they will look like. It has been said there look will remain faithful to their ashan lore so its already not in our favor. Also, in my opinion, the lich and vampire of h6 were not the worst looking units in the game. They could still get a worse design or one that is not any better than what we got.
2. What will the trade off will be? They already said they will have to give something up to stay on schedule. So I think back to 'Who would say no to a bunch of gold dragons?' I don't want to give up something awesome so that one or two units MIGHT look better.

Removing the spider legs and putting the lich on the ground would be enough for me. The vampire doesn't look like a vampire, but it doesn't look bad either. And given the name 'Vampire Knight', the design does fit. Actually, the only thing out of place there is the word 'Vampire'

Except we haven't won anything with Necro yet. With Heroes 7, until better models are not confirmed, there is no victory. With Heroes 8 and the general Necro direction, I don't consider "maybes" and promises to be victories.
Of course I am grateful for them listening to us, but that's not my final goal, that's just a means or a forerunner for what I really want. And I understood that they are discussing about it so I stopped with the complaints on the blog.

As a potential buyer I think I have the right to express my opinion in regards to what it is they want to sell me. That's leaving aside anything related to being a long time fan of the franchise. Or the fact that they themselves asked for our feedback and participation in the development of the game. I do not demand anything, I am asking for the sake of a more satisfactory purchase.

To which I replied that I was not talking about the examples per se, I was just trying to prove his double standards where in one place he chooses to express himself while in another he says that to do so is in vain, motivating it's a case of "my way or the highway".
