That's just a terrible excuse for a terrible design. don't do it.

it's also pretty hilarious in hindsight after Zarya was announced for overwatch. she's a step in the right direction for Blizzard

Overreacting or not, in my opinion there's little arguing that that look better if you tone down the colours.

I agree H7 artwork is silly. But at this point, did you realy expect anything else? After unit reveal and town screens reveal ... one expects people would just accept it already and go numb for this. But apparently the art decisions by Ubi seems to still have shock value.

To me, almost all armor or weapon in heroes games looks silly. This ones just look a bit more silly. I don't get what's the fuss about. If you are surprised at the looks of Necro heroes at this point then ... idk.

P.S.: But still hint to developers for the future. When designing fantasy armor and weapon ask yourself this. Would I wear that, if I would need to go to medieval battle tomorow? If answer is no, then back to the drawing board.

P.P.S.: That necro armor has no practical value. It is completly useless. In fact, it's liability. And If I would have to choose between a large wooden stick and THAT (whatever that excuse for weapon is), I would go for wooden stick any day.

SIMPLICITY is the name of the game here. SIMPLICITY!

These overdecorated Halloween costumes..... just what are they thinking? There is a lot of steel frame there that's not needed, just look at the shoulders and chest pieces. Again with the spikes on.. everything, like even the weapon. How is that halberd supposed to slice with those pointy spikes around the edge?

Just what...

That's it. I'm out. I can't stand this pathetic little community any longer. A little colour and a few extra spikes, and this is apparently a travesty of epic proportions - scrap the whole thing. Pathetic, petulant, pitiful. I want nothing more to do with the lot of you.

@Alci: I liked the red gambeson, but I agree with the green and purple

IMO they should only keep red and black, scrap the purple and green. Also the spikes should be removed as they look awful. Also, why the hell is Y'shaarj on dk's axe? It looks extremly familiar. Here's a quick sketch of what I'd think they could change in order to improve the death knight (I made it in a rush so please excuse all the imperfections)

Honestly, he just hinted at the subject while you literally smashed it into the thread. It's not a pleasant, or welcome topic of discussion here either, so let's end it here.

I'll tell you guys this now, because I got some signals that this might be the case. I don't know if this is 100% accurate but I know there's been quite a bit of speculation in regards to how Skillwheels work and this is what I gathered so far. Besides, if this proves true, then I wouldn't be able to tell you after March 13. So here I go:

- there is one Faction Skillwheel, so with 6 factions you have 6 Skillwheels;

- classes from the same faction share the Skillwheel, but the availability of Skills is different;
    - certain Skills are banned for certain classes;
    - certain Skills have a limited mastery level for certain classes;

- there are 3 Skill mastery levels called Novice, Expert and Master;

- there are 3 Skill categories called Might, Magic and Neutral;

- "main" skills are starting skills.

I'll admit I've been wrong about the underlined part before, claiming that wouldn't be the case, because I imagined that there would be 36 different Skillwheels with specific perks and all that. But this scenario above seems more likely and reasonable for the devs to implement. It can also explain the descriptions of the classes on the blog, more or less accurately. For example when they say "masters of/strongest in X skill", that means they can learn that skill to Master level; when they say "experts of/decent in", that means they can go up to Expert with that skill. However, I have a strong feeling that there won't be skills with only Novice mastery.

Overall, when they said it's a combination of Heroes 5 and Heroes 6, they were quite on point. There won't be 6/8 Skills slots on your hero which you would fill with the skills you get, there will be ~20 skills where some wouldn't be available for certain classes and for the rest you would have to invest a level-up point to get, up to 2 or 3 Mastery levels. And all that in the form of a H5 Skillwheel, while at its core is Heroes 6.

In part, it was not an oversight of mine, but a refusal to such a system. This is why they chose all pick over randomness, because it was basically the Heroes 6 idea to begin with. My hope now is for perks, which I believe to be present and the only salvation of this system (but who really knows). So it would mean that with Expert you'd be able to get 2 perks while with Master you could get 3. Also in the cases of Magic Schools, an Expert Dark Magic user for instance, like the Ebon Knight, wouldn't be able to get level 4 Dark Magic spells, but only 3.

Finally, the skills I managed to identify (excluding racials): Offense, Defense, Warcries, Warfare, Leadership, Logistics, Economy, Diplomacy, Paragon + the 7 Magic Schools, Prime, Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Light and Darkness for a total of 16 Skills.

I have similar concerns about the whole skill mechanics for quite some time. I also think that certain hero classes won’t be able to develop some skills to level 3 (Master). At least I hope that there won’t be banned skills for some classes for instance Haven hero and Dark magic (even though the school is forbidden in the Magic guild).

Also I’m really interested in how perk will be picked. I doubt that will be the H5 case where they share same pool with the skills. I mean when level up in H5 you can choose between a new skill (if possible), advance learned one or pick a perk. Maybe they will be “for free” in H7. When your hero level up will be able to spend a point for a new skill or advance learned one and in the same time you can pick a perk.

But still this system is very controversial because you have 30 points (up to level 30) to spend which makes 10 fully developed (Master) skills. And if we apply the mastery restrictions for some skills you’ll be able to cover pretty much all possible skills even though not fully mastered.

I hope that the devs will shed some light on the topic on the forthcoming event. I don’t like the graphics so the skill system is cornerstone (and the game mechanics as a whole) if I’ll play the game or not.

With regards to the previous Succubus-discussion, I think it bears to note that what we as players *largely* see are them in battlefield situations. I don't know about H6, but in H5 they were ranged attackers. The way I see it, the "forms" we saw were adapted to a battlefield situations, and the Succubae would look differently during a "conversion" mission.

The boob plate is stupid for reasons mentioned above; the cavity between the breasts becomes a funnel for incoming blows directed directly at the sternum and partly the heart. Granted, we have giant flying reptiles and magic winged humanoids, so Ashan runs to a large degree on fantasy tropes and less on realism.

For a good example of approaching a "boob plate" in a semi-realistic manner, I'd suggest the comic book series "Artesia", or the female Mass Effect armours. Still noticeable breasts bumps, but not as excessive.

My main beef is the *incessant* and ridiculous over-engineering and over-decoration of everyone and their mother. It doesn't look cool, it just looks like they're trying too hard. There's *NO* memorability about these designs, no easily recognizeable silhouette, not central motif ("spiders everywhere" doesn't count. Batman's singular, central bat symbol is a better example) it just crowded and rococco-like. The art direction seems to be "Imma jam some stuff in on the armour until there's no room left."

Just my two cents.
