I hope to see a reason as to why there is only two playable factions. Even if it is just for a laugh.

I expect that this is the case for the initial beta-phase and will be expanded as the testing progresses. As is par for the course with beta-tests.
I expect to see such an explaination with the full press-release.

In HoMM 3 you only had only 1 skirmish map, one faction (Castle) and 28 days to win the map.
In HoMM2 you had also 1 skirmish map... but it was Broken Alliance.

People are whining that they aren't getting all the goodies in the start of the beta test?
For f'''s sake people beta is not a demo. Beta is mostly done, but still a WIP thing. Limiting the amount of factions and maps in the beginning is a reasonable step.

For a few years i only had H2 demo and the Broken Alliance Map... for all this time that was enough  Good memories

Hope you are right WO. I can't imagine they wouldn't include the factions we voted for, don't they want feedback?
Speaking of those factions, a sylvan website update would sure shift the focus away from the skill system

I cannot imagine that either and if memory serves, H6 beta did not start with all 5 factions either, but gradually expanded towards that. Maps were still very limited to a handfull of very symetrical maps if I recal correctly.
And I certainly do expect they want feedback on balance and the factions that were voted for. The question is if they are done, as we speak? I expect they aren't yet.

I suppose, though it could also ignite the butthurtness of those who did not vote for the winning version, especially with Sylvan.

Wasn't there an h6 beta with preorder that gave a map to play with all the factions? I never preordered it but my friend did, I was just hoping for the same deal.
Edit: just read WO's post, I guess what I played was a demo

Yes and no. It was Broken Alliance map remake but you couldn't play with all faction on it - Dungeon wasn't included.
