I was just explaining how you can be excited about the game, or "fan" of the game even if it isn't released yet.

Can't you be a fan of a franchise and expect certain things of a game so close to release? Either they be good or bad, the developers shared a lot of info thus far for many aspects of the game. In general, a fan of the franchise can know to a point if the game will be to his/her liking or not. The truth of course will be another thing entirely. But until then, people can defend their opinions but with caution. They may be found to change their opinion entirely after the game is released. And this goes both ways. The game may in its overall feel win people over or cast people away.

Expectance leads to disappointment, learned it the hard way several times over.
Better to roll with the punches and give a light jab now and then.

There's always hope of course, although in this case I feel there is little.
For instance; in an ideal world we shouldn't have to choose which faction be included in the vanilla game,
especially when the world of Ashan has so few factions to begin with.

I understand your sentiment. Heroes games have had a rough history the past 10 years. But still, i will disagree with you to the disappointment point. But i can only ask you to wait a bit until the second beta to see what has been fixed and how the overall game works so far. It won't be perfect, i know but for me the game in the beta had a feel of previous heroes games, so that's good.

Now, i must disagree on the point of the factions that are chosen. I think that under the circumstances, having in vanilla all faction would have destroyed the game (now at least it is salvageable). More factions would mean much more work and resources and also far less interaction with us. This means that there would have been no redesigned Lich and Vampires, neither the pseudo-random skill system, neither the slight correction to townscreens and so on. So, i don't mind seeing even half of the factions if it means i can help the game. I do hope that in future expansion we will see all faction, but what i hope even more, is for community enabled features that will keep the game alive, good support from developers with patches (and hopefully without the pressure for release, the ability to be more interaction between us so that an expansion can be more "complete") and so on...

Of course, I just get annoyed at what some people say on this forum I am not a huge fan of H6 but there are people who like the game. Heck on the H7 steam forums they were many people who said they enjoyed h6.

It just grind my gears when people say that they are not"true" m&m/heroes fans etc. *sigh*

"True fans" is an insanely obnoxious and useless concept indeed.

I agree that game would be utter crap if they implemented all factions in vanilla. Considering the amount of copy&paste abilities and similar stats already with 6 factions, I think the real start number should be around 4 to make the factions distinctive(which kinda would ironically create another problem of having not enough factions for variety). On the other hand we might have had better more unique skill-wheel for each faction also if there were less factions so they could've put some real effort there instead or/and perhaps to hero-specializations. Maybe some other company could've made h7 into a good game... Or maybe they would've re-used even more h6... Or maybe Ubi forced to cannibalize h6 as much as possible... There just is no way of us actually knowing how things would've turned up. It's just "ifs" and "buts" without any real facts behind them

All the discussions and hate and clashes aside, I've already decided that I will think about all of you when playing H7. And I will think about everything that happened here and on the SC, especially concerning the haterage-campaigns and the people who were so open about the fact that they would never buy/play the game. And I will smile, not give a living damn and enjoy the game . I am beyond being influenced by the vocal members who are not looking forward to what H7 is going to be, because H7 has won my soul already.

All will fade into memory, the good times and the bad, for when H7 is upon us, there can only be good times. Or so I hope....and if not? Well, there's always H6 to turn back to. Would be a shame, I must confess, for why stick to H6 if there's a new game to explore?

Besides, now that CE preorderers also receive H3 HD as a bonus (if that Uplay Shop mail wasn't a fake one), there's only more content for my money . Although I previously stated somewhere that I don't like the looks of H3 HD and much prefer the way it is un-HD'd. But for free? Well, that sheds another light on the matter altogether.

Gotta love free stuff.

I have that sound on my phone too, so I can play it whenever and wherever I want.

I pre-ordered for the goodies, the bonuses and the Beta. Now there's even an extra bonus added to that. I think my involvement in the SC has been a major reason why I wanted to pre-order this game. I've got a brutally mediocre collection regarding Heroes items: 3 and 4 are digital, and the actual physical items are H5 ToE, H5 Collector's Edition (just a box with the games and a bonus DVD which I haven't checked yet), H6 Gold and H6 SoD. I thought that the H7 CE would be a nice addition to that .

Every game in the franchise has been to my liking, based on what the game itself offers. I have no reason to dislike H7, but I understand if people do .

I kinda found this to be one of the problems with h7 in the beta actually since I've played h6. The game uses so much from h6 so there wasn't much new to see. I think there were like 2-3 new buildings in beta...? Same with the skill-system; it encourages pre-set optimized builds, lacks unique or hidden abilities(by hidden I mean abilities with pre-requisites or ultimates). Great deal of units are using old models, many of which have very similar stats even to their h6 versions(partly coz of 3 tier system). Most magic spells are from h6 also(though lacking many of the more interesting spells). Hero specializations are essentially from h6, actually worse than h6 to be precise. At least with h6 many of these things were new, it felt more like adventure. Now it's just seeing the same things over and over again. H6 also gave something to do with collecting/leveling dynasties and making heroes(I disliked that, but it was better than h7 with locked classes).

Also the stale gray "realistic" graphic style on adventure map makes the world seem so dull/boring, not adventurous at all. I mean I look outside my window and see more blocks of flats and little park(there is like nothing there!) and it seems interesting after watching h7 world with so grey colors. I mean I liked h5 style colors, but always felt it could've had a little more "magic" to it. Then came h6 which went completely overboard with the magic-feel using so deep colors. Now h7 took the exact opposite and used so pale and plain colors it makes it looks completely uninteresting/boring. In my eyes both h5 and h6 had much better adventure map(optimal being something between those two for me). Of course the coloring scheme may still change, but I highly doubt they will make any major changes to the game in any areas really.

Ohh and to answer the question; I wouldn't. I do play h5 occasionally(like last weekend with a friend), but h6 simply has no re-playability AND the fact the the game keeps crashing when starting battles really makes me wanna steer clear of the game

I would be okay with less interaction with us if it meant longer development time and more resources.
Sadly it probably wouldn't, the guys with the money are too stingy to give the franchise the respect it deserves.

It feels like nowadays most publishers hype up their games way too early.
Interesting tidbits at regular intervals is nice and all but loses some of its potency when directed at a fanbase notorious for its nit-picking.
The interaction and voting just strikes me as distractions.

Of course there are no major downsides to releasing a Heroes games with a less amount of factions.
Balancement and potential DLC makes it more worth it than not.
Heck, the next instalment could have 3 factions for all it's worth.

Hi All,

I would like to give my 2 cents to the discussion too. I was very enthusiastic about Heroes 7, 'till I didn't play the beta /demo/. Many things destroyed my "pink clouds" feel as I played with the game. firstly I was disappointed about the visuals, and the game played too slow even on the fastes settings, too many crash, and waiting for the AI etc., so after 1hour of play, I was totally bored, and I wanted to uninstall the game. Somehow I missed the Heroes feeling from the essense of this game. I decided to wait for the second beta and check what is the progress with the project, that's why I didn't cancel my pre-order. I hope they will fix a lot of things, as the beta was pretty unplayable for me, and finally we can put our hands on a better game. I liked the previous games, yes even H6, after fixing the annoying bugs.
I can explain more what I didn't like in the beta, but already too many people reported the issues so it's pointless to discuss them again. So I am still positive for the project, thx to developers who are commited to the community.

I also wanted to add, that I agree with the people who expects some changes, and they would like to change the boring Heroes skills, or the skillpizza and etc... I dont like the stubborn attitude of Ubi, that they dont really listen to the community, and they gave a small budget for such superb game like heroes. It's very positive that they did change the two unit models, and they sometimes explain things to the community, however they fall again in the trap of repetiveness, based on the gameplay. I hope there will be a lot of mods, and we will have a great game experience.

Ideally, the developers wouldn't have bothered to ask anything and developed the game and then showed it to us 1 month before release. That would incite many complaints but still, people couldn't have done much about it.

Though, to be honest, i doubt they would really have put much more work into it anw. Now though with the development as it is, we have a say, at least for smaller stuff and don't forget that even if we see what we want or not, people from ubisoft are watching these forums and are collecting ideas (i think they do at the very least unless they wouldn;t bother to create an account here and comment).

So, we may be more able to influence the direction of an expansion more rather than vanilla. But the vanilla so far isn't that bad. It is mediocre at best, but moddable and we will be given tools for those that are able to fix many stuff, many stats and so on. That in itself is a way to keep heroes game alive from the community.

The first Beta went a little bad for me because it didn't run properly, and I wouldn't want to base my judgment on that alone. Somehow it felt a little like H5 when on the adventure map, maybe exactly because there weren't so many rich colors in the environment like we saw in H6 (although that Sylvan video does look promising). The battlefield with its green grid system is of course much like the other Ubi games. The Skillwheel offers you a choice of your own where you want to go with your Hero (actually that was the case in H6 too). If one doesn't like doing that, however, "Random" is an option, which gives you the ability/skill selection screen of H5. Whether or not it is indeed random, I don't know.

Still, there are differences, perhaps not in visuals but more in strategies: the portalling system is toned down, apparently capturing forts works differently, and you have to make choices between what buildings to...build. Exploration to me isn't just the landscapes, it's also the strategies . With the return of the Magic Guild, you simply have to accept the spells you get there, instead of stacking up points to quickly learn the spells you want (and which are available). Admitted, it is a pity that classes are set, instead of being able to choose the path of Offense or Defense.

You don't have to suffer battle-crashes . Just go about quick-combatting (it even saves time!). And of course I disagree about the non-replayability, but that really is a very personal thing.
