hello

i done the final campaign with Ivan

i wonder something, there is houses where the descriptions says "ppl slaughted by the bad guy, anastasya could revive them as undead"

but we dont have any other hero with us, only ivan and standard hero recruitable,

so wwhy is there this information

this final campaing was disappointing also, too short and story too much classical, it could be higher and most dangerous odds, at least final battle were very nice

well no, i did academy, sylve, and heaven, but we dont meet the heros from academy, just lisar and marava

so i supposed there were no connection with the storys tells by advisors,

undead last map is too hard even in easy, you need to rush an academy town, and you had to know that you needed to level abdel malik, so i gave up

That's it. Each campaign you finish makes the final campaign easier and adds new possibilities, including new dialogues.
As far as I remember, it was Tanis who appeared as an Academy hero in the final campaign. Ivan could have decided whether to choose her or Nolwenn as his wife.
Once you finish the Necropolis one, the notes about a necropolis hero will make sense to you.

the difficulty level in random map, is not only about ressource and neutral army?

Cause i did a game in hard, and dame the computer was not able to oppose me a serious army for once, and when i see the display of personnalize level of difficult where there is only ressource, neutral army, and starting ressource, i m really wonder

can you tell me about?

cause heroes 3 got more powerfull AI, here it seem to lack much really

There are some factors influenced by the game difficulty (which can be changed in H7AdventureConfig):
- AI Resources (Starting + Income Multiplier)
- AI Aggressiveness
- AI Creature Growth Multiplier

I don't know about anything else.

Few modding questions

1: Is it possible to add additional heroes to the lists that are available for use in the adventure mode maps?  I have been able to edit existing heroes but have not been able to add a new one to the list.

2: I tried to change the visual of a hero [the one that shows on the map and during combat. In this case I used a succubus and while it worked it was to small in both modes. I found a scale setting for the map case and managed to make to hero larger so it looked good but I could not find a way to make it larger on the combat screen. It looks really odd being so small. Is there a way to increase the scale there as well?

3: How would I go about changing names of some of the existing heroes?


4: Are there aby utilities or methods to copy an entire section of the tree in the editor. For example the global names or other such entry. I did see a program linked in a thread on here [umodel.exe] and it looked as though it could do this on some of the graphical sections but I did not see mention of the entries I was interested in.

Follow up to previous post

I managed to figure out how to mass copy the data items. For some reason when I had tried before the ctrl-a was not doing anything but is working now.

I think I may have found how to add a hero to the list but am running into an issue now. At first I thought it was my new hero but I reverted the files back to an unaltered state and still had the problem.

I made copies of several sections of the data in the editor. One of which was the H7config. I made sure to copy both items in the file and then placed the new file into the data sundirectory under my games as I had did with the other files.

For some reason with that config file in place the game crashes to desktop after selecting the map to play and hitting continue. If I remove the file the map launches and if I place the file back then it crashes.  I deleted the file, made a new copy making sure it was complete and had the same result.

Any idea why having this copy of the config file there would crash the game?  Is there something else I need to copy also to get it to work or perhaps that file needs to go under the main program tree?

Any advice would be helpful.

Looks like I fixed the crash issue.

I compared my copy of the config to the one in the game folder and the copy was smaller. 76k vs 92k.

I went back into the editor selected the h7config and then selected fully load then ctrl-a and made a copy of everything shown.

For some reason the output file is now larger than the one in the game folder 95k compared to the 82k of the original. Not sure why that would be the case but the game loads with the new file in place so seems to have gotten past the problem.

Now I can try again to add a new hero to the list of choices.


Edit: New issues could use some assist.

I have managed to create a new faction, heroes for that faction and made a copy of the haven town for it which is working at this point.

I am having two issues with adding creatures into it. For example I started with the Lizardman. I made two copies of it one of which I bumped up the stats and made it the upgraded version with a different name. I edited the buildings and am able to build the buildings and recruit the basic version and after upgrading the building can recruit either version as with any of the other base buildings.


The problems are
1: If I have the base Lizard Men [call them lizardman Rookies] I am not getting the little arrow to upgrade them into the Veterans which are the upgrade versions. Not sure if there is something I missed or what but if anyone knows how to get past this would be of help.


2: I have slightly altered the texture for my upgraded lizard man, since I am just testing for now all I did was changed the hue to give him a reddish tone. I am not sure what I need to do to get the new texture to work in the game. I made a copy of the files under the CH_lizard man folder and then imported my altered texure over the exiting one. did the compress and seemed to be ok but after doing so the editor crashes when trying to save the package. I've tried this 4 times and had the same result each time.


Any tips on the correct method to get an altered texture correctly imported and saved would be a huge help at this point.


Also any links to any tutorials related to creating/altering creatures, factions, towns and/or abilities would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I have checked those tutorials and was able to get past the crash when changing graphics after watching one of the videos on creating a custom creature. Turns out that apparently I was saving it to soon. After watching the video I waited until I had assigned the texture and material and no crash at that point. I had been trying to save after making the copies of the mesh, texture and material then save and that caused it to crash every time.


After watching the video and doing the same steps before saving I have been able to create 4 or 5 creatures with modified graphics.

Another modding issue

I've ran into another issue I would like to solve.

I made a copy of the dungeon faction, town and buildings, gave them new names, creatures and so on. All of that seems to work fine but I am having an issue with the black market that I can't seem to figure out.


When I go into the town screen the icon that should be there for the black market to buy and sell is missing.  I can build the building but the icon is never there.

If I go into the town properties and set the faction to dungeon then the icon will appear but the visuals on the building tree are all messed up with the icons appearing in places where they should not.  

The build screen looks fine when I set the town faction to my new faction but again the icon to buy and sell via the black market will not appear. My faction is a direct copy of the dungeon faction as is the town and all the buildings so I can not figure out why it is not showing that icon when the town is set to the new faction. Everything else seems to work.


I have been through the town and faction files and do not see anything that explains it. I am thinking there must be another file somewhere that I need to adjust or copy and have no clue what it would be at this point.


Any hints?

It's a problem of applied-to-hero effects in general, not just stables one. Even Asha tear bonus can disappear. Sylvan one in particular stops working very often because of this (to me atleast).

According to Antalyan (the Unoficial patch guy) it's a source code problem and cannot be fixed.

About the dungeon icons it is probably a simple renaming issue. Something in a name or pointer myst link these icons to dungeon faction. It is only a matter of findibg that and switchong/copying to the new faction name.

The error with hero applied effects seems absolutely baffling. What kind of quality control has ubisoft!?

To expand the thoughts about the disappearing buffs: There is a chance that the buffs are disabled by a certain action. If you manage to figure out when exactly the problems happen, I may try to re-apply the buff after that event. It will need detailed observations, though.

Yeah, it's very frustrating. How could they expect us to take the game seriously, if they have even failed to implement key mechanics. It's beyond my imagination how they overlooked those bugs in the final release. In my opinion, this situation characterizes the developer's overall attitude to the game very well.

Hello Everyone!

I'm new to the forum however I play HOMM since the legendary 3rd one.
Maybe an off-topic question, but I don't know where to start.
As I started playing the H7, I got excited about the Editor stuff. All by myself I slowly learned how can I make unique Heroes, Artifacts, Spells even Creatures (I'd be happy to present them, although they're just experiments).
But I got stuck with my little modding, as I can't find anywhere a few crucial solutions for a problem I have.
I'd like to ask, if anyone knows how to implement all the stuff from a custom map (I mean every single object that I've created there) to an another, so I don't have to re-create them, just a copy-paste like system. I found it (as I hoped), but this "Import" option doesn't work, as all the files "fail" to be imported into the new map.
I think it would be even better, that any map I create or just a regular map where I play could be "started" with my Heroes, Artifacts and Spells. Basically, I'd like to create a mod of my own.

Summary:
- How do I import all the stuff once I created to other maps?
- How can I "cook in" all the stuff in the game's main library?

Major FAQs regarding both the Add-On and the main game of Heroes VII

1. The Add-On expansion is now, also, a Stand-Alone game of Trial By Fire. And, can be bought through Steam + independent from Uplay's dependencies + 8 achievements given through Steam for this game.

2. The overall game of Might and Magic Heroes VII comes with the Trial By Fire Add-On Expansion as an embedded fully completed game. That is only possible via Uplay game client.

3. A newer Uplay game client called Uplay+ is now available through monthly subscriptions(19.99$). Details on how the game distribution and usability of them through this online type of subscription service is, still, to this day, unknown to me.

4. The completed game is at version 2.2.1.xxxx. Since, the Add-On, itself got patched up 2 times over the inception and release onto the world markets of Trial By Fire at initial version 2.0.0(first patch at 2.1.0.xxxx and, second patch at 2.2.0.xxxx + a minor bug fixing patch at 2.2.1.xxxx). The x quadrupled are the current build that could change over time when the game is re-downloaded and re-installed via Ubisoft's game servers via the registered member through the Uplay game client.

5. To grow and further improve the game will be the fan modders/devs of major mods that could see the game advance to versions 2.5 through 3.0. Well, at least I do hope very much so in the next 5 years from the date of this written down post.

I've got a problem: HoMM7 barely runs in 4 fps on my PC. The editor works fine (lol, as fine as it can run), The Witcher 3 in 35 fps, Diablo 3 in 60 fps, HoMM6 runs very well too (40-60 fps, I don't remember), etc. I have a Radeon RX550, btw.

Any idea to why H7 runs so bad? I did the firewall thing already too.

Edit: I'm attempting a reinstall right now.

Edit 2: it works now.

Edit 3: Installed patches and now is back at 4 fps.

Edit 4: Finally made it work somehow. Now runs at 25-40 fps with saturation enhance mod (depending upon location, battles have less fps than adv map).
