Usually when you start changing objects properties but you don't pay attention to yellow squares (entrance) overlapping, that screws the map. Anyway, try to keep validate map option as empty as possible. Does it crash when you activate it?

I was very careful when choosing the colored cells.
I rolled back to an earlier version with minor losses. I completed it in 8 months without any crashes. Then I made a number of edits adding different objects. Basically, I added creatures for more leveling up of heroes, events, and also terrain. The game crashed on day 4.
At first I deleted all the new events, since I remembered their arrangement - but the crashes continued.
On this forum I saw a post that too many trees can lead to crashes and need to be replaced with bushes. Is this really true? I added about a hundred trees. Deleting them several at a time and starting the game again and again until the crashes disappear will be hell.
I do have a pretty dense map design compared to vanilla. And this is only a card size 144. What will happen at 256? It looks like my dream of creating a map at 256 will never come true, because I already don’t have enough resources at 144.

Have you tried validating the map?

h3mtxt - converter between .h3m/.h3c and JSON
Hi everyone,
I'd like to share a program that I wrote to facilitate manual editing of .h3m/.h3c files.
Basically, instead of hex editing, the program converts the input .h3m/.h3c file to JSON or vice versa.

Do you know WoG edition can create a passage forest, mountain, etc and you copy and paste to HotA? Quite a fun! I made the Dead Ornament (HotA), if you don't use a WoG, so you can copy and paste to your map.. Remember the same object.. Other passage artifact doesn't work in HotA.. The Mandate of Heaven isn't a bug.. It used program and HoMM friendly.. Are you heard lost object? When you put an object to your map, but it disappears from the map.. It isn't a bug.. Go to WoG edition, so you get all tricks.. Other! HoMM has someone memory unit.. So only in the RoE.. An example of Seeds of DIscontent - Independence, you meet Scholar (Adventure) gives Scholar skill.. But not in expansion, etc You copy Scholar and paste to your new map.. And you share to other that is Scenario name: The Scholar, for example.. All gets Scholar skill.. Second game all can't get Scholar skill, thus it changes into random skill.. But you must to buy a new computer, don't install H3 complete, WoG, HotA, thus it will disabled.. Another you meet Red Orb in the Liberation - Tunnels and Troglodytes.. So you copy Dragon Utopia and paste to your map.. But I got a Sea Captain's Hat.. I don't know why.. Ok RoE map, you added objects.. And then you install SoD.. And you change into SoD.. So interesting map becomes here.. Not bug.. It's program and HoMM friendly.. Who player knows about my maps Other what? The Grail to your random hero in backup.. You give a few artifacts to map, so HoMM searches for alternatives, and it's the Grail.. But I can't publish other map, thus broken motherboard.. Remember diligent to make maps, if you want an odd effect to other in SoD, WoG and HotA.. It needs many maps..

Most of them are about using values that cannot be set through the Map Editor or the Unleashed Editor:
* +20 Morale bonus from Pandora's Box.
* -10 Gems as a Quest (increases your number of Gems upon completing the quest).
* an Event that repeats every 10 days.
* ...
But there are other cool things as well. For example:
* You can specify which hero is displayed as the starting hero from the game menu.
* You can put a visiting hero in a town that doesn't belong to the player that controls that hero (e.g., a Red hero starts inside the town that belongs to Blue).
* You can choose a specific terrain sprite for a tile (map editors only allow modifying them randomly).
* ...
