I can answer one: yes, each type of damagahe has it's own chance to crit.

Example 2: gnoll special attack (12 x iirc)

Alright Gnoll

Hope I find a 3*

Ah sorry that's not what I meant. I already have an Essence that came with the Dungeon Rewards, I've been farming the gems yes, I meant I can't wait to awaken it for its potential, but I lack the gems atm.
AFAIK the only way to get essences is from Dungeon Challenges.

Maybe if Awakening process gave a slight boost to monster material already leveled up then we wouldn't be so reluctant to build 2 dot monsters

I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean by this.

Like instead of a dupe monster counting as one (1) awakening material if it's max level, it'll count as two (2) when used in Awakening.

Oh! That's a good idea, too.  I'll be sure to pass that along.

This would indeed be a great solution, thanks for passing it along to design.
Additionally I would suggest to add all fused creatures into the new one, eg if I use a creature which was awakened with 5 extra creatures then using this one to fuse would count as 6, this way, it wouldn't feel like a waste and we can feel less guilty for leveling up low dots creatures, or in better terms less forced to NOT level these.

Hello everybody,

I've been lurking the forum for a while now (I'm pretty sure I've had a account way back, but can't remember the nickname or email address), I found Creature quest a week ago and have been playing avidly, the threads here helped my understanding of the game a lot.
I'm currently lvl 45, my main team is a lvl 45 owl, tengu, wyvern and arctic eagle as well as a lvl 60 green drake. I've been very unlucky with other epic or better creatures. Got 5 epics, but 4 of them are green and the last one is pretty bad.

I did pretty well in last weeks dungeon (ranked 9th), this week I appear to get hammered, a ton of lvl 90+ people just dismantling me.
I'd appreciate a guild invite should a spot open up.

What do you guys use for the small slots in your dungeon? I think the toad is a pretty good choice, but beyond that I'm at a loss. My only levelled small creature is a raven and I don't feel like he does a lot in the dungeon.

@Raenus
Are you so excited about the Gorgon, because you like gorgons?
I got one from an idol and I'm less than impressed. Its special is deal 50% power poison dmg for 3 turns to the target and neighboring enemies and the baseline stats at 3 star lvl 40 are 4200HP, 550pwr, 550atk, 1050 def, 550 luck.
Also it's basic attack is berserker, so expending a tome to change that is probably necessary.
Don't really see a use for it, the power is very low (even my Tengu healer has 900 without any totems on lvl 45) and the special doesn't do anything instantly and can possibly be completely resisted or cured.

Wouldn't it be simpler to just give a creature the combo dots of the one with more dots? I.e. you fuse a lvl 1 4-dot creature to lvl 75 2-dot, the lvl 75 now has 4 dots.
Even with your suggestion, not leveling low dot creatures is fairly bad, as you have to spend a ton of gems and other material to level that higher dot creature up again.

Sure there is some room just send the request. I am planning to reform the dungeon a bit so expect to see some come and go in the first days.
No worries though, HCers are safe.

BTW anyone knows what is the "promote" function in the guild? I feel like rewarding the most active members but I don't know what it does. (@HungryDragon, StoneRose?)

I am pretty sure I recycled a Gorgon myself because of the same reasons. It's not worth the investment.

As a former 'officer', by promoting you can turn members into officers. Officers can invite and kick people from the guild but still have less power then the leader.

You can consider them as your trustworthy assistants .

And welcome to the new soul! I think the toad is a decent small creature and so is the kitten mage and probably the egghead since it heals all and is resilient. The mushroom is pretty resilient too and has a nice AOE poison. I don't got a raven but I guess it can resurect other creatures, but yeah....people will kill it first.

Edit: the crane bird seems pretty powerfull with a 250% special attack.

Now I want to make a kungfu panda squad....

Hey Dulkan, welcome! I use the best small creatures I have (egghead, toads and best damage dealers). Normally any small creature with high combo dot count will do nicely, I have an awakened 3-dot kitten sorcerer, which shoots chain bolts at 1300 PWR x 200%. Most attackers seem to disregard it as a petty threat, but it already wiped out several attackers on this wave

Do not underestimate small creatures, they are very important contributors to your base's defence (but only when maxed, which thankfully requires not so much resources). I, in fact, take advantage of those half energy tower events and collect as many small creatures and gems, so I can max and awaken them. The downside is you have to have some creature space. I currently have 100 and use almost all spots.

Promote advances a guild member to an officer. Officers can accept players to the guild and kick them.

Also, if I remember correctly, officers could also promote other people.

Seems like a good idea. Can you tell me on which tower levels the good small creatures drop? I pretty much disregarded the tower up till now, only doing the first 15 levels on the weekend to collect the bonus tokens and totems.

Tell me about it, I'm currently at 109/120 creature space, I frequently get the offer of 10 space for 15 gems and always take it. I have so many small creatures, I need to decide which ones I take on for dungeon defense as well as several copies of my rares in my main team waiting for the main guy to reach the third stage so I can use them for awakening.

@Gallead
I'll send a request in a few hours then, thanks. Ingame name is the same as here.

Farming tower becomes somewhat tedious if you do it for a long time, so beware you don't get a creature drop every kill, and if you do, it will most likely be an awful 0-dot or lousy 1-dot (however these will do just fine for awakenings). I farmed Tower 19 for gargoyles and today in the morning Tower 14 costed half energy so I grabbed a few kitten sorcerers to advance a few ranks of mine.

I am leaning towards creating a creature spoiler table so we know where and what creatures do drop.

Great idea. We could expand that to a complete creature compendium with their stat range, basic attack, special ability, drop location.

Would be a lot of work, though.

You just can't predict when a three dots happens, but it happens. Tickets multi-summons work too, most of the time you'll get lousy dots and doubles for awakenings but just yesterday I got a 3 dots blue bird, and I was "luck-inspired" enough to keep all other doubles I had from a while, so paf directly 3 dots medium flyer awakened for dungeon.

I've been thinking about that too but I lack the time, would be great if you can centralize all you can in a post you'd keep updating, then I link it in the OP so it doesn't get lost.

To create a creature compendium you must know ALL creatures, and that is really impossible in this game unless you have lots of cash.

Knowing ALL of the creatures isn't really necessary. But information about creatures available in all of the Tower floors would be pretty useful. E.g. Floor 7 is good for farming Frogs, Boggarts and Mushrooms (you can also get a Witch, sometimes), floor 42 is an invaluable source of Ladybugs, Cat-witches, Muses, Pixies, Nymphs and Jiangshis. 41 is good for Flytraps and green Dragonlings.

+1 for Tower compendium! It is sad you cannot see what could drop ingame so at least lets create this fanbook for Creature Quest

BTW I was in top50 (for few minutes) yesterday but then lvl 200+ attacked me and bashed me to 53 Grabbed 13th place in the guild rooster (lucky number!). I am advancing... slowly but surely (does this word exist in english at all? It sounds funny ).

@Gorgon - got 2 of those and I said it before - not impressed. If I could trade them I would but... lets hope the Marketplace will feature creature trading.

As I am advancing further into the higher levels I am feeling that instant damage is the way to go. Poison/Burn is nice but if it gets resisted or cured, then you wasted a ton of damage potential.
I am still in love with my one dot (poor girl) Jiangshi - debuffs attack (which buffs all Warlock attacks), does multi-damage and heals up! The day I recieve 3/4 version of her the world will crumble upon my roar (of happiness)

Silence is another cool stuff! If it does not get resised of course

@Galaad - I took your advice and maxed the blue mask and voodoo doll (both 4 dots small creatures). And they are incredible efficient even on their small size! And my Ascended Phoenix as a final boss just frighten some players as the number of attacks on my dungeon droped down

Ok guys, this is going to be a bit of an effort, so let's work on it together

I added all mentioned creatures from the thread to the list here:

http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=43894

Please comment with the confirmed drops you personally witnessed and I'll add them to the root post. I figured it is going to be a bit spammy so it's best to move it to a separate thread. Also try to give exact level 1 creature name so it's easier to search.

Can you elaborate? Do you just farm red crystals, or is there a chance to find Fusion essence or a coloured chest in Grand Wish quests?

Also, if you're reading this HungryDragon, I have a suggestion for a feature. Getting basic evolution materials (shards) is quite tiresome. You have to come back for the lowest tier quests and on higher levels it's an utter waste of time and energy. I'm constantly out of at least one colour. If you could 'crush' a better material (e.g. sigil or a runestone) to get a random number of the basic ones, that would be splendid.

This is an interesting idea!  The issue is certainly known and it *can* be dealt with by using the lower tier token chests (though most people would prefer to save for the big one).  We're looking at some different ideas to help people deal with back-training lower rarity monsters.

I'm in a bit of a dilemma.

I finally have the resources to upgrade my owl to 4 stars and I really love that creature (special: hits 5 times and each hit has a chance to silence). But it only has one dot. I really don't know, whether I should spent the resources to max a one dot or rather wait to find an owl with more dots or use a different creature.

I also took a look at my small creatures, here a list of what seems good to me (all of them are only at 1-star):

You have 3 ground and 3 3 flier slotsw in the small dungeon, 3 ground, 2 flier in the big one

- vampire bat (150% pwr dmg, heals for 50%, flier)
- crane and rat (150% pwr dmg, flier and ground)
- magic sword hits 3x for 50% atk, 25% chance to hit two additional enemies for same dmg. (flier)
- cat sorcerer (120% pwr dmg to first target, 60% to second, 30% to third, ground)
- boggart (150% atk dmg and debuffs luck by 30%, ground)
- horned dragon baby (100% pwr dmg to target, 50% to neighboring, ground)
- flytrap (100% pwr dmg, heals himself and neighbors for 50%, ground)
- ladybug (2x50% pwr dmg and burns for 2x50% pwr dmg for 2 turns, flier)
- chipmunk (160% pwr dmg and lowers def by 30%, flier)
- penguin hunter (160% luck dmg with 30% chance to strike again, ground)
- toad (175% pwr dmg and 4 turn stun (this is 3-star), ground)

A few more questions after reviewing my roster:

Q: Are all the monster special attacks different in name?
A:  I believe, so.  Yes.  There may be some name re-use for special bosses but I don't believe there's any re-use for the collectible Creatures.

I haven't come across any dupes, kudos for that, quite a feat.

Q: Will Special Attacks be a rerollable feature later?
A:  That's not something we've considered; the issue has to do with predictability when fighting in Dungeon Challenge-- we want you to understand what it is you're fighting and that's harder when each Creature's ability can be random.

I hope not as I don't think it'll help the "catch-em-all" aspect of our gameplay.

Q: Is Special Attack order sequence specific in its actions as it is written in its text? For instance Wyvern's team buff is listed before its attack opposed to others that list buff after the attack implying that Wyvern would increase its own attack damage beforehand.
A: This is a more technical question that I'll have to track down.  The short answer is that the text does not necessarily communicate the order in which the effects are applied, but I can see how this could create confusion.  I'll forward this on to Design to see if we can clean it up a bit so it works like you'd expect.

Q: If an attack hits a single target multiple times, will each hit have its own chance to be a critical?
A: Yes.

Q: Are there any plans to create a playable Legendary Boss that can conjure allies for Dungeon Defense Boss Rounds as there are in quests?
A: I've heard folks ask for some sort of customizable Creature, but the idea of having a Boss that functions like the enemies on the Quests (or in the Tower) is a REALLY interesting one.  I like this a lot.

Q: Can a table or information summary be released to advise how many gems it takes to level a monster to a given level using basic 1x parameter?
A: I can see about that.  One interesting thing about most Creatures is their ability also improves on evolution (something might go from 100% PWR to 150% PWR, for example), so often times that can make up a little bit of the statistical difference if you can't level them up as high.

I want to evolve my Legendary from 4*-5* but fear running out of gems leaving it weaker than it is now.

Trying a new format to make it easier to answer question onslaughts

I'm no forum expert, but I tried answering the questions inside the quote (in bold).  It feels like that violates some sort of protocol or etiquette or something, but it seemed like the easiest solution.
