Btw I got a pretty empty schedule tomorrow and Tuesday so I can play practically anytime if ya give me a heads up. I need to play Frosty and Aionb still.

No idea what's with that biased random faction generation

Solid charge build as expected, though aura of swiftness does not exist on this map. It became a no-brainer when facing magic factions, vs academy and dungeon in particular. I find the shift in balance too great when 1-2 extra units can reach the opponent from the first round. At least tactics also put your units within the opponent's striking distance.
I would consider giving executioners speed 8 however. A charge is the one thing they are good at and the extra reach from tactics can be negated.

Most of the dark magic formulae are close to 3.1, closer than H5.5. That doesn't make shatter dark any less effective, it weakens decay, frenzy and puppet as it would in the original game. A knight with frenzy does not quality as a might hero with a magic edge..  I mean honestly, nobody ever won by spamming frenzy.

As previously, I'd say that the orcs played recklessly Those were some goddamn impressive stats while destructive was.. just ok. I think the real problem was not getting defense and memory of our ancestors. Almost 100 starting rage can help you a lot! Empathy is good but retribution can give you a solid +12% damage which I feel is more important here. While empathy odds can be decreased(lich/dragon despair, zombies, banshee howl), retribution bonus remains constant. And not getting ballista was a blow to your build imo. Tent is definitely useful but 4 skills just for the tent is kind of a waste. It can cleanse lvl 1-3 curses but not frenzy, only anti-magic can dispel that one.
Something else, paokai should have blocked liches. They did a lot of damage.

There is one game missing in the results - Pali vs LM (I win). There was a post from Pali on page n. 9.
@zaio - Elvin made a lot of changes on this map. Some strategies are no longer possible. It will be very hard to find the needed balance again, especially while extending the options (arts, spells, skills) for players. On that note - adding armageddon seems silly, but who knows, maybe it will be okay.
For the match ups problems (I had them too - played only as dwarf or necro imo) I would have a suggestion for the later stages of this tourney. I would suggest to use a strike-out app - we used this in TOH on maps. The example - app generates 5 possible match ups. Each player gets to strike out two of them, leaving the final match up that will be played (selected in the game).
Also pls consider best of 3 for the later rounds ofthe cup, as it also decreases the problems with bad match ups.

I'm definitely in support of this "striking out" option. It was done quite well on the HRTA map.
I'm actually starting to wonder if there might be different probabilities for the factions in random match ups on this map  . I had Stronghold three times as well (two times against Necro) while no one seems to ever get Inferno (it might have happened once, but definitely not more than that). However, since I dealt a lot with probability calculations at uni, I know that coincidences like that happen quite a lot.

5 morale retribution giving 12% bonus dmg seems kinda harsh to me. After all retribution works only on attacks and not on retaliation strikes. 1 point in luck gives +10% dmg(on average) both on attacks and retaliations and you dont need to have 5 morale to get those 10%.

Best of three is a given and I'd happily see strikeouts. If anyone still has the application please send me or upload it. Otherwise we could find a solution with random.org number pairings or something.

Maybe but it's more or less ok for the power of a single perk. Currently luck is +65% bonus so +6.5% damage on average while basic/adv/exp attack gives +6%/level. They are all roughly in line with each other.
Next round begins on Saturday.
Friday evening I will gather the results and ask who's in for the cup and provide the map. There will also be some tweaks on the main tourney map but nothing major. Here is what I have in mind, let me know if I forgot something:
- Puppet formula closer to H5.5.
- Mass spell cost reduction.
- Corrupt soil from 4 to 3 dmg/lvl.
- Marksman precise shot from 5 to 4 tiles.
- Shadow mistress swift attack.
- Extra resources for the arcane library.

So far it looks like stevie and lord michal will move to the next round. Diegis and Palingenesis are tied at 3/7 so anyone who hits 4/7 will surpass them
The green dragon needs one victory out of two games and gameslayer needs two victories, both missing frosty and aion. Frosty can also pull it off by getting two victories out of the three games!
Can you guys manage that till Friday evening?

There's one balance change which I would favor in addition to the aforementioned ones: Un-nerfing the Stronghold battle cry so that it adds speed again. That would strengthen the faction a bit.
