Hehe, did'nt know you were interested, but you are welcome.

I have'nt updated the thread in a while, there has been quite a few changes since last update.

The whole skill and spell system annoys me a bit some time and there is no easy fix...

I hope you also make it more readable: organised, distinguishable and coloured. (Each title with colour and each SS/Spell under that title with different colour)

Okay here is an update:

* Gold rewards in Dwarven Treasuries returned to normal.
* Sulfur rewards in Medusa Stores returned to normal.
* Mana cost of unskilled and basic Haste and Slow returned to normal.
* Buffed ballista from 10 -> 12 attack.
* Inferno heroes starts with 20-30 imps. (3 stacks for Ignatius.) (Like in HotA.)
* Fortress heroes starts with 15-25 gnolls. (3 stacks for Drakon.) (Like in HotA.)
* Morale cap raised to +4.
* Luck cap raised to +8.
* Equestrian's Gloves and Boots of Speed now both add +350 movement points and costs 5250 gold.
* Efreet Sultans, Energy Elementals and Phoenixes are no longer immune to fire spells, only mind spells.
* Magic Elementals are no longer immune to all spells, they instead have mind spell immunity, 50% spell damage reduction (like Stone Golems) and are immune to Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning and Armageddon.
* Seafaring Academy now requires a level 16 hero, to pass the Quest Gate.
* Eagle Eye buffed to 80% chance at basic to expert levels.
* First Aid buffed to 83/142/200 hp. (Or 58/117/175 if we disregard the 25 hp you get without the skill.)
* All 10 towns, except Conflux, now has a 17th hero.
* Improved adventure movement for speed 4 units, 1560 -> 1595 movement points.
* Spell Research is banned. (HotA feature.)
* Power modifier of Armageddon is now only 20 and advanced bonusses also reduced.

I think that was most of the changes for now.
Of course the first post is updated as always.

How did you edit slow/haste and other spells?

I want haste +1/2 and slow -15%, DD and TP for fire.

That's easy: You need to edit the txt file sptraits. Then you need to save it (maybe keep original file as backup) and add it again. You need the tool MMArchive to add the file again.
Are you using original game or HotA?, cause then you will need to edit from a different folder. (I can possibly explain the above better, when I'm in front of my computer.)

You wanna move both TP and DD to Fire?, well that will certainly be a huge buff for Fire Magic, remember that Rangers and Beastmasters normally can't learn Fire Magic though...
And yes Haste and Slow are indeed very OP, especially since they counter each other.

A small update this time:

* Speed 4 units returned to their original adventure movement points. (1560)
* Decreased cost of Firebird dwelling by 5000 gold and 5 Mercury due to Vault of Ashes introduced in HotA.
* Cloak of the Undead King now makes vampires at Expert Necromancy. (The amount is the same as if it was liches.)

A new update:

* Efreet Sultans, Energy Elementals and Phoenixes have their normal resistances back.
* Dungeon heroes now start with 20-30 troglodytes. (3 stacks for Shakti.) (Like in HotA.)
* Earth and Magma Elementals returned to their original starting amounts on the map.
* Town Portal now costs 900/900/900/600 movement points.
* Speed 4 units now have 1595 movement points on the map.
* Equestrian's Gloves and Boots of Speed now both gives 300 movement points and cost 4500 gold.
* CotUK now makes wights at expert level.

I have a few more undocumented changes, which I'll probably add later.

Edited first post as well, as always.

That's a nice mod.
Some stuff I don't agree with, some other are good.

The higher Morale and Luck cap is interesting.
Auto-casting creatures aswell.
Different types of Elementals summoned very interesting.
That about the AI digging for the Grail later than with only one obelisk is nice too.
You know how to edit starting Secondary Skills, Specialties (and it's gain) and type of Creatures? that's awesome, I need to know how to do that!

Yeah changing heroes skills, specialties, units etc. is possible, but it is a real pain in the a$$. There is a good explanation for it here on HC though. I can maybe try to find it tomorrow.

You say it is a weird progression, and prefer making it even (1, 2, 3).

One might argue a few stuff here. Yes, the good old 1, 2, 3 is always gonna work. But in this case you put very unpleasing numbers. In this type of game I believe whole numbers are best.

I'm talking about number aesthetics here, there are a couple of systems we could try.

In my way of seeing it:
50 is a tricky number for 1, 2, 3... well, 100 also is. So I take a different approach.
15/30/45 also don't look perfect, but it's an improvement.
So we could try 15/30/50 and it feels better...
Or even 10/30/50, why not? it looks good as well.
I find sense on the last two, as the Skill progresses, you get more rewarded.
Taking that into account, another system we could try is doubling the last. For example: 10/20/40.

Ah the skill progression, yes I understand what you mean, but I don't see why expert for example should give more than basic or advanced.
In game you will never notice about the weird numbers like 16,67 or 33,33, you will just see the result. But yeah something like 15/30/45 could also work, but then you make the skill a little weaker at expert level, if it was supposed to be 50.

But yeah I just prefer it this way, even though the numbers might be weird.
Actually Estates is 200/400/600 now, a little nicer numbers for you there.

I will probably update this thread tomorrow with some of my newer changes.

Well, if you want to know how much extra damage you are getting, mentally it is easier on your brain to add/consider 15% or 20% than +16,67%.

I would say +20/40/60 would not be OP, since the town that most gets archery (Rampart) only has a single archer unit.

But it might unbalance the new Factory with the two OP ranged units and archery starting heroes, if you are using that version as base.

IF not for that, the only problem I see is Orrin (https://heroes.thelazy.net/index.php/Orrin) since it is Archery specialist for town with two good archers.

(IMO rampart should have had the archery specialist)

If you make Archery 20/40/60, you buff Tower and nerf Fortress, Inferno etc. and that's not what I want.

Nimo there is no need to calculate anything, the game tells you how much damage you do and how many enemies you kill, so really 16,67 or 33,33 are only bad if you are allergic to decimals. If that's the case, it could be 17/33/50 instead, but it does'nt bother me, so I probably wont change it.

Why do you want Archery for Rampart, they only have 1 weak shooter? Archery is not worth taking, unless you have at least 2 ranged units imo.

Updated my changes today, still a few missing:

* It is now possible to learn 10 skills per hero! (Graphics does'nt support it though.)
* Estates is now buffed to 200/400/600 gold per day.
* Mysticism is now buffed to 5/9/13 mana per day or 4/8/12 if you disregard the 1 mana you always recover anyway.
* Sorcery is now buffed to 8,33/16,67/25.
* Removed 17th heroes for all towns. (Now that Factory is available there is more than enough heroes already and the hero poll is more like originally intended.)
* Galthran is now available instead of Ranloo. However due to the OP nature of the skeleton specialty and since Galthran started with Armorer, he is now an Armorer specialist instead. (Also starts with a standard Necro army.)
* Torosar's skills back to normal.
* Town Portal now costs 600/600/600/400 movement points.
* Precision now costs 5/4/4/4. (Same as Bloodlust.)
* Slayer now costs 8/6/6/6.
* Mana Vortex is back to 100%. This is not my intended value for it, but HotA seems to overwrite my change sadly.
* HotA's Seafaring Academy added to banned map objects.
* HotA's Warlock's Lab now has a Quest Gate requirering a level 19 hero in front of it.

As always the first post is also updated.
