No, Tower is one of the strongest if the map is rich, and it also requires an unique strategy. 3 Shooters: Titans (top lv.7 together with Black Dragons), Archmages (no obstacle penalty) and Master Gremlins (which come in big numbers). Best Lv.6 according to me, Nagas as well as decent levels 2, 3 and 5.

Yes Tower is a very strong against neutral. Easy playing shooters and Nagas with. Calculate your damage amount without spells. And Tower increases power, if you take a spells, example of legion Dread Knight, you use a Titans and force field. Other use a slow, and then force field, for example. It's true, but Conflux with Phoenix, etc eats more experience points against Rust Dragons, for example. And then Tower has a two spells in 5 level. So haste collecting experience points. Yes I tried given briefly explanation, but hard to get a player understands strategy that my English skill isn't enough. Don't worry, Tower is also balance against Dungeon, for example. When Black Dragon can't resurrection, etc better to finish before strategy starts depth.

guys, you are clearly talking about single player. i was talking about competitive PvP on a specific template - jebus cross. even on some other templates tower is not considered weak, mainly because of a great mage guild. however, on JC, where mage guild plays little to no role, it is universally considered the weakest town among PvP players, and it is not uncommon to pay 50-80% of your starting gold to the other player to be able to choose the other town.

each town has its own strengths and weaknesses and it is fine that some towns are stronger than others, especially given the town trade at the beginning of the game. tower on jebus cross, however, is just simply too weak. hence my suggestions.

here are some reasons why tower is so weak on JC:

* clearing creatures banks is difficult. you can start with a small hive on day 4 (once you get nagas) where other towns do it on days 1-3. you can clear a mini consa towards the end of the week, where other towns can do it at the beginning. forget about clearing larger banks using the army from your town until 121.
* you pretty much need to find a giant / naga dwelling. no dwelling, and your game basically starts in 114-5 (if you're lucky to find a small bank)
* movement penalty on snow makes it difficult to move around once you do clear some banks.
* titans are an awesome unit, but by the time you are able to get them, games on JC are already over. naga queens are pretty good, but oftentimes you can't afford them in week 1. other tower units are absolute crap, so you rely on master gremlins until you can get some units from creature banks. no clearable banks = no army.
* tower heroes have bad development paths and terrible starting skills. there is no good choice for a main hero, so most players start with aine for gold+scholar, and look for a main in the tavern. some go with solmyr who—for the most part—īs only used for that 1-2 fights where his chain lightning can turn the course of the battle.

Changes with balance to match one particular template is bad idea. Very bad. Game will become too hermetic.

Could'nt agree more.
It's not like everyone is only playing JC.
Tower is a strong, but expensive town. If you play HotA you are in luck, since Mages and Titans can choose melee with no melee penalty and the build order is also easier than original game, they even made a lot of Tower's buildings cheaper.

Can you guys give cyclops upgrade some reasonable boost like decent damage or no barrier penalty? Because i dont ever feel like building them just to get extra 2 speed and few stat points even if i farm horde of them. Don't forget that upped one costs 1100 gold while you get normal cyclops for only 750.

Interface and usability suggestion: more creatures info

Maybe professional gamers won't see the point, but amateurs like me, still need to look for creatures' information on the internet before battling them, with this feature, we could save valuable seconds.

You can Right-click on a creature before battle and see creature's name and count, which you can also see without clicking at all in the bottom of the screen. My suggestion is adding a CTRL + Right-click functionality to show more info (stats)

Quite a good suggestion rettersnape,
Maybe even add the speed bonus/malus (+1 or -1)if applicable (depending on terrain).

Combat turn order bar

Hi,

I've seen a combat turn order bar in some other mods and really liked it. It's basically a piece of UI with creature pictures and the number of creatures, as well as a different border color if they are yours or the enemy's. It orders them by their turn order, and shuffles them to the right as they take their action.

It sits on top of the screen during the battle and it's very useful, imho.

The question is, do you know where I can find it and can it be enabled on top of HotA without effecting anything?

Or, even better, it would be great to have this as an option in the combat options screen as enable/disable, if any modders are listening. Doesn't change the core game.

Order bar is native feature in VCMI. And VCMI is technically diffirent game than H3/HotA so it is impossible to port features between games. SOD_SP Plugin by RoseKavalier has Order Bar at the left/right side of the battlefield. But this plugin is for HD Mod, and as you know - plugins are working in HD mod for SoD but they are disabled in HD Mod for HotA.

i was talking about changes to the template. like adding ancient lamps on snow terrain only on jebus cross. this doesn't affect gameplay in any other template and fixes the issues with that particular template.

How about the return of the Nightmares?
It is well known creature among Might and Magic fans. It was important monster in both Heroes 4 and Heroes 5.
High tier unit in Asylum town (H4)

High tier unit in Inferno town (H5)

I know that there was a plan to implement them at early stages of the project (screen from 2008/2009? )



I guess Nightmares would fit quite well into Factory where wild west / outlaw is one of the themes. If not in faction's line-up maybe as neutral creature in future updates?

I don't see the point of Nightmares. It's basically recoloured Unicorns with the horn removed.

Regarding new content I prefer quality rather than quantity.

I agree on add Nightmare to creature pool, but a decent one. These copied/ripped/trashed ones gives no benefits.

Well Nightmares could at least have one or more unique ability, to make them different. Nightmare should probably be a neutral unit.

Btw Stronghold has both Goblins and Goblin Wolf Riders. (original name) It would be much cooler if they just had wolves instead of more goblins.
