Galaad, I just have to say that you've made a most excellent post - thoroughly researched, painstakingly compiled and well sourced I've learned some things I didn't know.

They've done so since the inception of the ISS/MKS (or even the late MIR years) and SpaceX have been doing vice-versa for some years as well.
Doesn't help the backwardness of Russia. The Russian ISS segment was n't designed for such long period of operation (and design dates back to the Mir/Salyut era) and basically is a money sink these days as cosmonauts are mostly occupied with maintenance instead of doing scientific experiments.

I don't see any realistic data acknowledging that Russia is a backward country, backward how, compared to who?
I read some weird arguments, like Pol's one about Russian oil extracting tools being made in other countries - I didn't check if true because is irrelevant imo, let's say it is -, but by that logic everyone is backward, as Taiwan is producing 90% of advanced microchips used by all our advanced technologies. By that logic too, EU wouldn't survive without China banks as they hold huge parts of our debts. I mean, that's how modern world is keeping up, some produce something we need while we produce things they need. If one source is gone, a replacement will be available, it always was that way. Russians made a Covid vaccine, we didn't. They have space programs, we don't. Who sane of mind can believe they can't make oil extracting tools too, if none available elsewhere.

Well, Russia has lost its leadership position in space, but America has also lost its leadership position in peaceful nuclear technologies. However, we can do without the United States in the nuclear industry, but the United States still cannot do without Russia in space. So who's retarded ?
Boeing fell into decline because "effective managers" decided that the best engineers didn't need to be paid well.

Just have a look at Russia's current economical growth. It is growth in the armament industry fueled by public spending. Not only will this lead to more and more accumulation of debt leading to inflation but also to brain drain to the armament industry from actually sustainably productive future-proof industries.
Resource exports already have taken big hits (decreasing acceptance from the West with no infrastructure to deliver it to elsewhere to full extent) and will continue to do so with the war progressing. You see, with every refinery, every gas/oil storage, every pipeline the Ukrainian forces manage to destroy, resource production has to be reduced because there is less options where to put it.

Well, if their debt will grow, there will still be some way until it reaches the U.S. $35 trillion one, given they start from almost none. See, context matters. I wouldn't worry about Russia right now.

@Salamandre,
A descendant of the Russian Tsar Nicholas 1, the Frenchman Gabriel Doroshin fights on the side of Russia. He came to us like Aragorn to the Pelenor Fields.

Bot/Kremlin propaganda/relay. Just kidding, of course, I don't mean that about Salamander. Seriously though, apparently this one doesn’t bother them for a long time. As in all other cases, they do not impose on themselves the same demands and recommendations that they impose on others. Paying off debts on time is for others.

Pretty much disturbing TBH. More land shopping is now forbidden for some time but it's indeed a bad pretext. Strategically speaking, it's logical why owning these properties/lands is in Russia desire.
@Salamandre
Russians have no capability, there's no dance about it. Only USA, Canada and Germany can create tools and sets which are neccesary for deep oil extracting. And, the biggest reserves, are all hidden down here.
Ofc, they can access reserves on conquered UA parts, these are much better situated. Even if, these are not legally their.

As an American who's hobby is Economics, I am not too concerned about Putin or Russia. The state of Texas has more GDP (Gross Domestic Production) than All of Russia.
Nato predicted, along with the U.S. that it could defeat Russia in or around 3 days if it had to. Excluding China's helping Russia of course.
Let's work to get Ukraine in NATO quickly everyone. A step closer to peace.

Reminds me of the three weeks it would take Russia to take Kyev, disband the Ukrainian government and install a puppet regime - didn't work and that was when the west was still paralyzed and wasn't any help.
So Russia in three days? That's preposterous - and idiotic to claim.
Not to mention that it wouldn't be worth the effort to conquer.

The main focal point I wanted to press was the amount of Money the U.S. has over Russia. I didn't make up the 3 Day War on my own. Realistically, I could care less. But the statement I made came from top Economic officials from NATO. And who said anything about attacking Russia? Isolate them, make them grovel under Economic policies. Works every time. Wake up Russia! Get rid of Putin and join the World's Economic Success. My Stocks are doing well! Are Yours?

NATO has economy experts now ?
Economically (and at some point military too) Russia has behind it 3/4 of the world, this utopia about isolating them is again la-la land. Not gonna happen.
Money and GDP is not everything, there is national and cultural cohesion, patriotism, loyalty to the leader, loyalty to the army, capacity of resilience, capacity of sacrifice for a greater cause and so on. Russia is no joke, they proved to be very tough in critical times, an open conflict would reshape the world, definitely not in a pleasant pattern.

Money ... IS ... everything! I know Putin could use more of it right now. Land masses are exploitable for monetary gain. I guess Russia doesn't use economic advisors it sounds like. It shows. Pity.
