Because you know, I've heard stories that it's being abandoned or something. I'd like to make sure if this was only a temporary setback or a permanent decision, considering that there's also been talk of the Cathedral and Kronverk towns. I'm not really up to speed, I've only recently started playing HotA (love it to death) and I'm a humongous fan of the Forge (and the science-fantasy setting of MM6 and 7).
I also wonder if the team plans to keep NWC's original idea idea of all or most Forge units being the strongest of their level, but also more expensive and less populous. IMO that's the most logical way to proceed, since a low population town (say, only 1 level 7 and 3 level 6 units at Castle level) with strong units would be new compared to all other towns.
On an unrelated note - I'd like to offer my help with the English translation of the content. While playing and browsing missions I've noticed some stuff that should be corrected. The fastest way for me to work would be just showing me the entire English script of the game, but I'd adjust to whatever you propose

I play random maps which I generate and then run through HotA Map Editor to remove Dimension Door, Fly, and Town Portal. My question is before I generate the random map, I choose a starting city and starting hero. After generating the random map and running it through Map Editor and reloading, it retains the starting city I chose but randomly selects a different starting hero
Is there a way in Map Editor I can define my starting hero - I've searched through all the option screens with no success.
Thanks!
Check the starting town options in the "Visiting hero" section. Should be able to define there.
Quote: Is it HoTA or HD mod that made heroes unable to walk up direction when standing on a learning stone?
Cause I just noticed that some old maps are not playable, cause you can't move in that direction anymore. I'm quite sure it was possible without hota/hd ?!
Was never possible. Only if you played some mods other than HotA+HD (or installed them on top of some modified version).
Quote: But could someone answer me? Is the Forge still planned?
As an idea - yes, but it is rather far from any implementation.

That is always welcome, however, all maps' and campaigns' texts are already heavily revised in 1.5.0

I was wondering (this is not an update request)
What isn't done yet in the 1.5.0? What parts of it? The animation? The 3-D modeling? The implemantation? Or is there anything else?
I also know that HotA is a non-profit project. But what about crowd-funding not for the project but for a single time hiring of a proffesional to do what's not done yet?

When I bring up the Ctrl-enter "Map Specifications" screen, I can't find anything about "Visiting Heroes" or "Starting Town" on any of the tabs...nor anywhere else in the map editor. Can you tell me where I could find that?
If you mean define the starting hero in the game itself, whatever I select is over-ridden when I load the previously saved random map.
Thanks!

Hurray! That did the trick...being as I've never tried mapmaking I had no idea that objects also had a properties window
Thanks to you both!

Well, I didn't knew I could call the Map Properties by pressing Ctrl + Enter, so we are even.

Seriously though? Complaining that HotA doesn't have WoG features? Come on. WoG may be sweet to mess around in, but the units are basically all recolors and palette swaps. HotA feels like a much more legitimate addon than the mod that WoG is, focusing on core gameplay rather than making stuff weird. Adding all those features like field commanders etc would ruin the idea big time.

@Xfing WoG and HotA were made with very different objectives in mind. As Slava himself posted somewhere, the objective of WoG (and Era) is to give more control to the mapmakers, while HotA team wanted to preserve the original spirit of Heroes III more then anything.
While I love HotA, I miss the capacity to easily custom my maps, for instance giving better specialties to opponents (something I can do with a single line of code in WoG).

im not complaining! i really liked the commander idea of all wog options, mostly because it adds a sence of rpg in the startgy game. and while hoat brings new town , FOR ME , a commander is a prime objective. therefor im not complaining im explaing why I don't like it. if you have a problam with ME not liking it, YOU can drink a cup of cold water and go back to where you came from i coulnd't care less about why they decided not to add them , and its the'yre own right.
kudos

Hota stated pretty obviously one of the foundation of their project was to keep the most faithful possible to the original h3, which is why asking for WoG Commanders feels out of place.

HotA is one of the best mods I have ever played. This kind of long term consistent quality is extremely rare.
WoG giving map makers a lot of control is its biggest weakness: Good content comes from inventing solutions under difficult constraints. WoG removing so many gameplay and technical limitations is why it is such a mess of inconsistent quality and style.
