From my point of view more technology in H3 would be awesome but on the other hand I can understand that for someone it can be some kind of interference in balance of faction. At now exist only residual Kreegans technology as a Monoliths and Castle Gates in Inferno. This kind of high-level technology doesn't have a huge impact in balance of faction.
On the other hand technology presented in concept Forge wasn't so powerful, devastating to ruin balance between faction.

I totally agree with you but from my perspective HotA probably won't provide Forge. HotA Crew noticed that for a lot of people which has been playing for 20 years in H3, fantasy game in Middle Ages with steampunk technology it can be to big change. (I don't know exactly how big part of community it is but like said Hourglass, HotA won't divide the community).
Personally in my opinion it was the biggest mistake NWC that they didn't add high-level technology on full terms in Heroes 4 to like you said “went all the way”.

That could be a great idea but then, please, forget all about balance and make it a completely overpowered city with specially good heroes and units, a town one has to be a hell of a player to have a chance to take at 100%.

Is there any plan to add scripting language to HotA? If not, is it design decision or just lack of resources?
I have thought of implementing Lua support as SoD plugin for my custom maps, but if there are plans for implementing scripting language in HotA, I would probably give up and wait for new version of HotA.
If lack of scripting language stems from lack of resources, I would be happy to provide HotA team with source code when it's complete.

We have plans to implement Heroes 4 like advanced event system, but they are not top priority. It is better to have it with interface implementation (like in Heroes 4), but scripting language can also be an option. You can write me in Discord (it easy to find me in HotA lobby discord: https://discordapp.com/invite/eDkPSNf) or write to e-mail hotacrew@gmail.com to discuss our views to the issue and possible cooperation.

One thing that bothers me since the release of Hota: Why have the other factions not yet found out about gunpowder? Is there an explanation in Hota lore why only pirates have it (and soon the new faction as it seems)?

Did play HotA's campaigns to read the lore? And when Hota with Factory will come out, we will know expanded lore.

Fair point! If people cared about the lore half as much as they do about the gameplay , there probably wouldn't be half as much Forge backlash, as people would simply umderstand. I'm personally one of those people who care about the setting if it's well-crafted, no matter what game I play.
So in other words, I don't care much for Ashan. It's generic, derivative and bland. The NWC universe was anything but these things, too bad it all got squandered even before they went bankrupt.

The intention since day one was to counterbalance it with lower creature growth.

NWC dropped the ball themselves by getting intimidated by the Forge backlash. Nowadays the argument "pure fantasy is what we've known for years" is more warranted than it was in 1999. The first HoMM game came out in what, 96? These days 3 years isn't such a long franchise life and many franchises introduce complete overhauls to their lore/settings even further into the franchise's life.

At that point they wouldn't have done it anyway, because after the Forge debacle they completely abandoned any future plans for sci-fi. You'll notice that the sci-fi elements were toned town to almost nothingness as early as MM8. I don't understand why NWC would compromise their artistic vision so, but I suspect it was pressure from 3DO not to take any chances lest sales be affected. NWC's games made the most money for 3DO, while most of the publisher's other franchises failed miserably, so NWC basically carried the entire stable, so this sort of pressure is understandable.
I just can't live down the immense squandered potential of the setting. It could have been glorious, especially if the mysteries got unraveled and the scale became grander. The Forge's failure is but a symbol of the setting's decline, as well as my own disappointment.
But if this HotA Factory town displays somr technology beyond Victorian era steampunk, I'll be somewhat consolated.

Don't take this as a critique. I want to understand it because I love the mod, but still need a good reason why guns are possible otherwise it will bother me. If you say the answer is in the campaigns I will go ahead and play them.

Because they can? We Heroes players are strongly driven by nostalgia, alas while I can be a bit skeptical about some of the line-up choices, it still doesn't change the fact I'm super excited for Factory. And like I said before, you can always find a way to introduce some new things to existing lore.

This is a little bit weird that you're so surprised to exist gunpowder (which isn't any kind of innovation, was invited a long time ago around 7 th century) but you aren't seeing steampunk technology e.g: mines, factory (I wrote about that on page 340) or about Kreegans technology (Momoliths and Castle Gates in Inferno).

Quote: So now let's look a bit closer to H3.
Land mines, Golem Factory, mechanical units, Experimental Shops, Skyship – like an airship Zeppelin, lamps, artifacts e.g: Telescope.
So, in my opinion it's quite a lot of steampunk stuffs here. Of course it won't be never dominating motive but we can't say that H3 isn't steampunk. It's all about that the civilization has decline and now is on the lower level but earlier it was definitely high.
Those features you mention can be explained with the term magic. No surprise most of them are part of the wizard town, which stands for magic like no other.
Golems, as well as gargoyles, have always been a part of what one would call fantasy, they are no mechanical units in that sense. In Heroes 4 this was kind of violated with the dragon golem, which seemed like a machine more than a golem. If it is a golem that can move on its own why have a guy sitting on it?
You may have a point concerning the airship though. Although for a faction that has tamed thunder throwing demi gods and commands flying genies and also has a chain lightning expert, it kind of suits them to have mastered the element of air to such a degree, that they can make a ship stay up there.
The inferno castle gate fits rather well into the fantasy realm in my humble opinion. I always thought of it as a connection between inferno castles through the Earth, because that is where its creatures seem to stem from - the fires inside the Earth (lava is also the factions home terrain). This never felt out of place to me.

No offence but this is a little bit too high-level of abstract for me. I would say that you can explain everything by magic, in this way of thinking even gunpowder can be some kind of magical dust, the telescope is a magic box with glass, but I don't wanna be rude and I won't say that. You need to assume that this is a high-fantasy world with aspects of sci-fi and technology is part of it. I suggest you to study a bit chronology of M&M world. In the greatest simplification technology existed in Enroth --> Kreegans taken control over the monoliths -->lost communication between Ancients and the colonial planets –>silence followed, during which these colonies shrank back drastically in technological development.

bear in mind it is not Planet Earth,
for what would you use some primitive, hard to produce, piece of crap flintlock or frag bomb when you can already blow them to **** with the bare hands using a lightning bolt or a fireball, arguably the ones relying on the gunpowder to go forward are living in the stone age not the others lol

I think what they mean is that you won't be able to select it before the map begins as a player Town. As such, those Towns would always be "secondary" Towns, that the player needs to capture.
I think Docent was try to say that Cove,Factory and 12 will heave neutral worldview. I dont wont the idea of not select Factory from in menu when You can select

I saw somewhere (here on forums) that something was made by Don_Ko.
Is that the old 3D graphic creator from back when he was creating models for the old towns with dwarves and goth human race, who went to army or its unrelated and I just connect something thats unrelated.
I think his name was Don Kommandor or something.

Yes, it's the same Don_ko. As a matter of fact a lot of the members from back then are still on the team.
Although you're probably partly confusing him with Alex-ander, since Don_ko didn't actually work on Cathedral or Kronwerk graphics.
