To keep things looking on-topicish over here, I'm providing this.
These guys gave me headaches and their pets left plenty of piles to clean up.

That's from playing Mediolanum, level 5 military map. Yeah, Carthage had really big Dumbos in my city. Their soldiers are blue, and they were very plentiful. I played way beyond the usual play time; that one invasion was tough. I think maxing out on the number of Forts helped me to survive.

i find that they key to military maps are walls just build them then build heaps of towers and thats should kill of about half. then just finish off the remaining troops. also u should station ur troops just infront of the wall for maximum effect

Quote: i find that they key to military maps are walls just build them then build heaps of towers and thats should kill of about half. then just finish off the remaining troops. also u should station ur troops just infront of the wall for maximum effect
I did that. I put Walls, Towers, and a Gateway at the eastern chokepoint, but I had too much building clutter on the western chokepoint to make a line of walls. So when my city got invaded, I was disappointed when the invaders kept moving west; it turns out my defensive network in the east never had to fire a single missle or pila, unlike past times I had played this mission.
Yeah, those Ballista bolts kick. If you can get eight of them in a row, it's almost akin to Mars' blessing right there. The tower guards aren't as good; there's just too few of them and their range is bad.

Since we were talking about game demos a lot in a certain other poll thread, I thought I'll put up a pic of one of Caesar III's closing ads that I haven't seen in about four or five years.

this is what my Quaestor defence looked like. the javalins up high on the right and the rest defending. the towers vapourise the enemy if they engage in battle. i only ever sustained 2 broken towers at most
this is what i was talking about and i never found a better tactic

Did you ever get attacked from the east in Mediolanum?
That happened at least twice during my game.

yes i did. the thing that was suprising was that the east side was a puny wall with maybe 3 towers in all. it wouldve been eaily penetrated. but still the armies kept attacking the same place time and time again. just as long as the entry points were both blocked they always attack from the west and also every time they were wiped out

Hello,
I have been looking for a board where Ceasar 3 is being discussed. And I saw that this thread was started on a Caesar 3 Installation problem
I've had this game since '02 or '03. Had a lot of fun playing it too. Unfortunately I had to reformat my PC several times and never got to install this game again. When I saw the cd a few days back, I decided to play this game one more time. The thing is, everytime I tried to install this game this message would appear:
"Can't run 16-bit Windows program. Insufficient memory to run this application. Quit one or more Windows applications and then try again."
The thing is, the only thing I have running is Norton and a couple of messengers(yahoo and aim. I don't remember having this problem before. I hope someone could help me with this problem as I am not knowledgeable about PCs.
Tnx in advance.

I know of the official Caesar III forum; perhaps they can help you. Here's the link:
Caesar III forum
First you will need to register for a Vivendi Universal Forums account before you can post topics and questions there. After that, you should speak to the moderator named Keith. He's pretty good at solving Caesar III problems, so you ought to get help from him.
If you don't have time to set up an account and stuff, let me know and I'll post your question for you. I have my own account there already. I might need to know some of your system specs, such as your processor speed and whether you're using Windows 98, XP, etc. They usually ask for that info so they'll know what advice to offer you.

i think i know the problem
go to the start menu
then to all programs
then accesories
then system tools
then select disc cleanup
it might take a while, if your computer is slow, it might take a while if your computer is fast as well, i think this should fix your problem but i'm not sure, if it doesnt fix the problem then atleast you got a disc clean up
