The Way of the Treant!
...and the return of the "way of..." topics!

But if you've missed any, here's the list  :
Archer Griffin Paladin Monk Champion Angel Sprite Unicorn Nightmare Devil Minotaur Hydra Skeleton Ghost Lich Bone Dragon Golem Genie Peasent Elf Titan Dragon (pics not hosted anymore for those three)
Why the Treant? They have been around since the third chapter, but were not present in H4... However, the latest screenshots of H5 demo (?) have revealed that Nival made certain changes. Of all the creatures that needed a facelift, they've chosen - the Treant!
In my opinion, the new rendition is simply horrible.  Nevertheless, I wanted to hear YOUR impressions before I start a World Wide Petition - Save the Treant's Old Graphics!
From left to right you can see:
1) the H5 beta Treant (not upgraded)
2) H3 alpha and H3 final versions of Dendroids, including a piece of concept art
3) H3:WoG Treebeard by k1ng, from the upcoming Grove patch
4) the new H5 Treant
I wanted to include my Ent Wife in the poll too, but (alas! ) it is never going to find its rightful place in the game.
So... VOTE!

Could you post bigger image of h3 alpha? To see where's the difference...
And Yep, I dislike the new way of TreeAnt. Seems much more like Forest Skeleton Droid

I would say it's a language problem: The French or Russians just couldn't make sense of Ent. I'd sign the petition any time, but it's bound to fail, as they did this for visibility reasons, I guess (there was this screenshot with the demons where you could see nothing except Treant).
I voted WOG. Though I don't mind scanty clothing, I think the Treants should put on some leaves. I find the H3 idea of a forest spirit which consists of (a pile of) dead logs really strange.

Because it's Dendroid not Ent. ... but some leafs would be well apprecited by me too

Did you mean the H3 death animation or the H5 creature? If it was the former, I guess it was easier to animate it that way.
If it was the latter, I understand the beta Treant was a living tree with some kind of shields (word?) of dead wood on its limbs.

The new version looks like something out of The Dark Crystal- with a branch stuck in it's head
I voted for the H5 beta, but if it's a visability issue - then H3 wold prob work better.

My god.. those new treants look like stick insects.. The word hideous would sum them up quite nicely.
Nival should go back to the beta version design simply because dendroids/treants are meant to be tanks, not anorexics...

Definitely. I'd join the petition! The new Ancient Treant is just about bearable, but the Treant is going too far.
Why were they changed? Something to do with copyrights?

I was speaking about the H3 Dendroids. I've always seen them as (mainly) dead trunks with cut off branches at the top and their animation as them being cut to logs. And even if they are named Dendroids, the idea seems to be that of Ents. (Or is there a fantasy story they are modelled after that I don't know?)
 The new screenshots are horrible!  I especially mind the thin legs; any tree creature should be well connected to earth imo. (Isn't that what trees stand for?) The Ancient Treant looks as if he was chewing on his beard. And that he has been cought by the death-watch beetles (?) is strange, too. Do I like anything about it? - *thinking very hard* - Oh yes, the autumn leaves of the ancient one.

I think this H5 final treeant is ridiculous, it seems like a spider, or i don't know. The last version of the treeant was much better, in my opinion.
