I have had other things going on. I would want to fix the monster strength's on smaller maps. I am not completely happy leaving the RMG as it is now.

I also don't know if this has been discussed. Resources without guards act like they have guards on them, and will not let you past. Nor will they let you fight an invisible guard. Any suggestions?

This sounds like a bug!?
Could you send me a map where this happens?
My guess is that you are playing non-HoF maps and some HoF creatures somehow sneaks in there...

A small map review:
Generator version 1.05
176x176
normal Monsters
normal Resources
advanced fairness
Multiplayer 2 human (hot-seat) vs. 2 computer on hard
First of all: The map was fun, but there were some points that we didn't like:
- We chose our starting terrain as player 1 and 2 only to find out that the alliances were players 1+4 vs. 2+3. Is there a way to predict how the teams are set up?
- The difference in the starting area monster strength to the neighbouring areas was too high. Starting area was mostly 40-80 level 1 creatures, the adjacent areas were mostly 120-150 level 2 and nearly all were shooters. We couldn't fight them without wasting whole armies within the first weeks.
- We were around level 8 and hadn't captured our second town yet (which was guarded by 150 Master Hunters) when the enemy attacked with level 19 heroes (I have no idea how he managed that). He came across the map, captured "our" second towns and still had a respectable army. It turned out, he only had to defeat like 4 enemies - the border guards - to get to us. One could actually walk around nearly all other enemies.
In the end we could defend a few times and capture our second towns before the flood of enemy heroes came and slowly conquered the whole map.

Philer,
I have no idea why it does not work for you. Try other combinations of settings and try again (poor maps are probably the fastest to generate for instance).
Silpion,
first, the monsters are a bit on the stronger side in the latest version. I have had plans to change that but not gotten around..
The teams are selected in the fairest way, for 2v2 having 1+4 vs 2+3 is fairer than say 1+2 vs 3+4 (since player 1 gets dwell before player 2 etc). You can change this (I think) before you start the game. This RMG is made for multiplayer games mainly since the AI cheats way too much to be fun to play agains (which you have noticed as well). For instance, the AI does not have to fight their creatures, instead they go through with zero or few losses when their army has significantly more hitpoints (power points rather) than the opposing stack. Blame Nival, not me :-) Also the AI is claimed to get resource bonuses every turn.

Hey,
- I am, slowly, starting up again and was wondering about a few things. I have been fireing up a few RMG from the ubi RMG and find most of the templates to be either: a) extremely scares or b) extremely unbalanced.
- That said, I would like some information on where I can get the latest RMG from Tapani ( is it 1.05 ? ) at [ insert link here ] and does it work with HoF 2.1, thereby "bypassing" ubisofts comes-with-game-RMG ?
- Thanks in advance
- Guz

I dont know if this has been brought up before.
One thing i experienced in almost every game. The AI gets stuck at "The warriors tomb". just standing there, and the loading bar is moving very slowly. Just becuse it's trying to activate it the whole time.
is a possible solution to just remove it from the RMG?

Problem with RMG
Hi all!
I'm new around these forums (but absolutely not new to the Heroes-series, and neither to Age of Heroes, I just didn't use the forums this far).
Anyway, I have a not too serious, but annoying problem with this otherwise great tool. After providing it with all infos, I want to rename it, or at least change the extension to .h5m. The problem comes here: if I do anything with the pre-generated file name, the RMG crashes saying it has encountered an error and needs to close. Anybody has an idea what may be causing this?
(FYI, I have the Hungarian-Polish version of H5, and used a little registry trick to get the RMG working [I created a European key next to East European 2 DVD in Heroes of Might and Magic V key, and one next to Hungarian-Polish in Heroes of Might and Magic V: Hammers of Fate key], because without that, the RMG didn't even start up.)

i got a problem. when i play rmg maps there comes a sword over some items (on the map when you are going too attack something) when i try too pick it up my hero just won't and when i try again he just stands there and wastes movement points and one time this affected the ore pit. If there is no way too fix this i'm posting this up as a complaint about the RMG.

So....will there be a random map generator with Tribes of the East? No offense to the creators of this game, but most of there maps are pretty god awful easy. I've always loved the OMFG setting on the map generator, and I'm sure it'll be even better with the new alternate upgrade things.
Anyways, look forward to hearing about a new version soon if any at all Tapani.
EDIT: Nevermind. Apparently it already works with ToE so long as you redirect the save path from HoMMV to HoMMV-Tribes of the East. Coolio!

Hey, great work with this RMG Tapani, it really rocks compared to HoF rmg!
However, I have three things i´d like to ask:
1)Why my RMG crashes when I try to change the map name and then create it? The RMG also crashes when I try to make the biggest maps...
2)Is it possible to make allied maps with your RMG? Me and my friends like to play we vs. computer maps, so allied maps would be cool...
3)How on earth can you guys manage to get through legions of lvl7s just like that? I mean, I shiver with fear even when I see a PACK of Black Dragons!

Can anyone confirm that the random maps generated are fully TotE compatible. If I remember correctly there were some problems with HoF at the beginning (missing new terrain / new spells in guilds / new heroes in taverns).
@Zeromus: The latest version supports maps with alliances for two teams.

I can easily create any type of texture or land for the random map generator HoF version, including snow. Also, in TotE, while not heavy on the whole alternative upgrades for neutral creatures, I have actually seen them around.
@Zeromus-
When renaming your map name, make sure you manually include the .pak at the end. Otherwise the map won't be created and it'll just crash.
And as for the legions of level seven second tier creatures, the easiest way to deal with this is to play with there weaknesses. For instance, a legion of Cyclops, they have one of the lower speeds and initiatives of the level 7 tier creatures. I use artifacts, spells (ESPECIALLY dark and light magic), creature artifacts if playing Academy, anything I can use to make my creatures go first and hit hard for a long time. Not to mention, I have at least a thousand units up to the 5th tier before I even think of taking on say a legion of Titans.
Best thing I can suggest for you to try, use Vladimir from the Necropolis, build up an army of Skeleton archers, and as many of the alternate upgrade liches as possible (as they have the raise dead spell). Once you have at least 5 to 10 thousand skeleton archers, you can divide them up into four groups, the lich being the 5th and behind, and start taking on some of the higher stuff, especially if you made Vladimir a dark magic specialist (Then just make him vulnerable and weak as hell).

I tried to make maps with RMG after installing the newest version, but it still makes an error report and cancels the whole process even without changing the map´s name. Is the problem with the RMG or in my computer? Somebody help!

Did you create more than four players on a "Large" or smaller map? That doesn't work.
