So anyway, as I was saying before, I miss the way the Tavern used to be: no SPAM and lots of discussions about interesting things, like horoscopes and online quizzes. I just can't stress enough how much I love those kinds of diversions; they're the kinds of things that make the Tavern the Tavern. I know that you probably still disagree with me, Pan, but SPAM is just a silly waste of time and I hate having to moderate it almost as much as I hate reading it. I mean, if we're gonna have SPAM in the Tavern, we might as well open up the Altar and Other Side/Games as well. It's ridiculous.
Thanks RSF for creating a new complaint thread. It feels good to be able to get that off my chest, especially since Val locked the last thread because of one stupid argument. I can't believe you didn't notice the last one was closed, though. You really should come to HC more often.
EDIT: Nope, just the usual SPAM. I miss the good ol' days. *sigh*

You complain about Tavern, **** Glade has been dead for a long time now. No one in this new generation wants to put in any consistant effort like it used to be. Maybe it's just cause there's so many freaking noobs all the time. I moderate here and I don't even recognize have the freaking people who post here.

As for the spam, yes, HC is just not what it used to be. We are completely overrun by silly kiddies with a few adults remaining. Babysitting anyone?  Maybe the posts per 24 hours restrictions can vary according to member's age, what do you think? I don't have to make this info public, it can just work nicely in the background.

Good points but if we want to get rid of the massive spam then what we ought to do is focus on the sources. The Spammers. I can name a few in particular who I've noticed rather recently. Take that Baklava for example. I've noticed he's recieved four qp's. I really only approve of one and that was his HC Soap thread. I mean come on. His post in the Sorry KD thread really got a qp? Jeez, I wish getting qp's was as simple as feeling sorry for someone when I was a regular member.
If we're really gonna start taking this new Quality Point System Lith and Val came up with then I think we need to start by really looking at the posts andf threads we give QP's to.

Yeah the super fun thing about QP's is that you get a dozen plus people crapping on you to give QP's for something, then when you do a few dozen more pop out of the woodwork to crap on you for doing it.
That's part of what makes modding so much fun.
I think that it would be good to have a grownups forum. We don't necessarily have to allow CoC violatiions - we can stick to the language rules etc as they are - but there should really be somewhere that the non infantile can go and not fear being read by baby eyes. Mods there should be able to boot those youngins without hesitation - and some of the respect rules could be lightened up to be a little less like babysitting in there. Maybe call it the Grown Up Gamer Forum - I'd be happy to mod it

Psh, whatever. If you create this adult forum, I'm just gonna open up and let everyone know what I'm really like. 
Anyway, I'm thinking I'm about due for a random penalty for a member, especially since it's been such a long week. Any suggestions on who to nuke this time? I want someone who will not take it well to really soothe my nerves. Right now I'm leaning toward kookastar or william, but I really wish I could give out penalties to mods. I RefuSe to say oF whom I speak, but I will say he's been getting on my nerves lately.

But yeah if you had to choose I'd go with William only because we all know how he obsesses over his quality points. I doubt Kooka would really care either way.

Dude would you quit enticing him. Someone is gonna get pissed of eventually. And please for the sake of god don't do it to William. He'll blame it on the hacker again.
Edit: Yeah. It does suck that the community of HC has gotten so much younger over the years. It used to be mostly adults that visited HC, but now it seems like the place is crawling with pre-teens and teens. Not much we can do about it though. By the time they grow up, it seems they've already gotten bored and move onto to something else, only to be replaced by little children.
2006 was probably the only bright spot we've had in a while, with the influx of older teens and college students to the community.

What the heck guys? I mean, its bad enough that out there there are nothing but kids wrecking the place, but now in here you boys have to all start acting like two year olds?? I'm seriously so close to quitting... The forum is going to continue to be no more than an online sandbox if you guys start acting just as childish as all of them.

There's a right way and a wrong way to do everything though... I dunno what is going on with you boys and the powertripping but its getting old really fast.
What we need to do is work on getting more quality happening here - cuz this is easily the lowest HC has ever been.

So ok, what we need to start with is that possibility of the Adult Only Forum and run with that. There's a high chance of two things happening:
1.) The Older members who don't come around much anymore may in fact return when they see the place is no longer as childish as it used to be.
2.) It will put the younger n00b members in their place and hopfully teach them quality.
I'd like to really talk about point two for a miniute here so we all understand. Many of our older members were for the most part pretty high on the quality list. If we have a new adult forum to entice them into coming back then chances are they will also start to visit the other forums bringing with them their own special brand of quality. when the "n00b patrol" sees this then perhaps we'll have to watch them less.
Think about it. A lot of good could come from this.
