Ok been awhile, but have you sacrificed the 4 necros, and made sure to search ALL the map (there is a little area to the side accross a bridge that held me up for awhile the first time). I don't have a pic to show you, but if you can be a bit more specific I might be of more help.

Thanks for your help! I actually finished the mission on heroic a minute ago =) so proud of myself! After getting fast casting and the lost heroes’ armor which I have bought for 28k the last battle was soooo easy, I'm actually ashamed I couldn’t do it before. I finished the battle with losing 60 ghosts (which I only lost because of a lucky titan hit) 80 archer skeletons and 1 vampire. Thanks again for helping me, at least now I know how to play necro.

Then do his quest and kill the assassins. You can find them through the gate near the other end of the bridge.

all else failed- my screen froze where the garrison to the n/e is. I tried arantir and valeria(ornella was sacrificed at the pentagram) and they froze

I don't remember it being very challenging, I went straight for the enemy towns and my mix or summoning/dark/sorcery could easily defeat the garrisons and enemy heroes. I think there's a town portal scroll near town if they come from the other side and you want to retreat fast. Something else, certain heroes have tricky builds so you may face elemental balance if you summon your own phoenix or they may have a powerful word of light. Something else, a death knight asks you to do a quest which I suggest completing fast, gives a few extra death knights, mummies per week.

I'm having a problem with mission 4. I have the latest patch, I conquered the whole map (except the yellow town), I flagged all the mines, but nothing happens.
I restarted the map and I can't trigger anything. I don't get the "Build Castle" secondary objective and when I meet the first barbarian, nothing happens, altough I should get another secondary objective (parlay with the Orc's leader). Also, I can't destroy the portal. I tried to before conquering the NW Blue Haven, but it's the same.
Any suggestions ?

I can't find the 2nd group of ghost dragons that are guarding the upper half of the key for the portal anywhere. Could someone please tell me where I can find them?

Ok one is almost directly south (following the road) of the first town you come on. They are the white ones. Kill them. The second group is through near where the quest for the alternate upgrade undead are (the seers hut). There is a town there, facing the entrance of the town, it is to the right. They are the black ones. Kill them.

Actually the second one is quite hidden, for some reason. Never understood that. You have to pretty much look in every nook and crany of a campain game tho..so I did.
Lol for the longest time I couldn't figure out where to go once past the portal that only the main character can go through.

I have now finished the Necro campaign, but with one problem. When the Ghost told me to eliminate his killers, I went down through the portal to them. When I tried to attack them, I only got a message of something like "you do not want to meet your final death". Perhaps the problem was that I had already been down there before?
In an earlier part of the campaign, I did take out the yellow uber-strong barbarian town. I used Othella because she has sorcery. Key was to keep blinding the cyclops until rest of things were taken care of using puppet master and frenzy. Othella started with seven stacks of poltergists, each about 50 strong. Finished with same:-}}
I almost got rid of the cyclops using a combination of blind on them and PM on another strong stack, but goofed once when the other stack attacked without the cyclops being blinded. Then I had to let the cyclops chase my poltergists around the fort, running into mines.
It would have been much better if Othella had summoning with earthblood and could place 8 mines per spell, instead of getting only two mines per spell.

Honestly no clue. Totally stumped on this one. Uninstall, reinstall, patch? Maybe borrow a saved game from somebody who beat this one? Never heard of this.

You guys all make it sound so easy. I found it very hard, almost broken, when the red heroes double their armies every week.
