Hmm anyone who took the assassins' proposal? How does the ghost respond to that?

I found something weird in the last level.. After killing the assasins i was able to choose a portal, i chose the one with the prison, and i got a hero with a nice haven army. i made the whole army undead with the shrine of the netherword and gave the troops to arrantir, but before i attacked the castle with arrantir, i was suiciding the hero i got from the prison at the castle.. And Orlando used only 1 horned grunt!
One hero attack was enough to finish the level

I would like to clear things up about this soporific mission, now that I replayed it once more after Nirual told me about the Altars. The ghost says something rather vague about avenging his death by killing the assasins (which are then shown near one-way portals) and how he would then tweak the things in your favor (or something of a kind, I was unable to listen the ghost speak once again, given that my save was after I met him the first time)

Anyway, you get the mission to kill the assasins. You take the nearest portal to that bridge which will take you directly to the assasins area. They make an interesting proposal to you: Spare them, and they will distroy the succubus guarding the portal in the far west of the map, the portal from which the RED heroes are spawn from time to time. Now you have a choice:

a) you accept the assasins offer, no more red heroes headache (attention: you would have to go to the portal in far west yourself to destroy it, the assasins have only slayed the succubus guarding it). Ghost is not happy, you will never be able to acces the one-way portals near the assasins.

b) you decide it's not nice to kill people in their sleep, and want to teach the assasins a lesson; you kill them, red is still coming happily (every month or so, I didnt really realize the exact schedule, but each time with bigger army...) but on the other hand, ghost is happy, and opens ONLY ONE of the one-way portals in assasin area. One of them leads to the prison with Valeria in it with quite nice Haven army, the other to the area with three Sylanna's Ancients, and the third to some resource rich area.

What you should realize (to avoid being frustrated as I was before being told...) whatever you choose, that enchanted barrier near the ghost WILL NOT disappear! The ghost cannot remove it. There is only one way to put it down, that's to put 4 necromancers heroes on those infernal altars near each Haven city. Yes, sadly, Ornella, too. So you put them with minimum armies on the altars, they are sacrificed and the barrier goes down.

Then, good luck with Orlando!

On a last note, if you do not have the ability Banish, which would prove highly useful against Orlando, try going to that artifact merchant near the northern Haven city, I was lucky to find the Ring of Banishement there, which woul give you the ability. And as Nirual said, remember, the first thing that is going down is his ballista

And get the ring of speed, I eventually forgot it My staff of netherworld did nothing because he has Agrael's special and therefore boosted initiative for his units.

he just disappears. Should probably have declined it, getting rid of the additional demons doesn't seem to be as useful as getting the bonus goodies in the portal areas (4 trees? o0).

Before you can clear to the town of the Red player, did you kill the Inferno lord Gamor in the underground? Somewhere in the center of the map, on a mountain top, is an Underground entrance. That one leads to the Demon Lord and access to him is blocked off by the Red Border Guard.

Once you've defeated him, you will receive the key you need to enter that underground passage that leads up to the final castle on the map.

by the way, has anyone figured out how the Vampire Prince proposal in the third mission works? You're supposed to choose between the troops or getting 300 gold per day extra, but no matter what I click on, both the Vampire Princes and the Zombies imediately offer to join.

Not that it really matters, but I'm curious.

I just checked this out, because it puzzled me as well.

When the Zombie Princes give your their question box, you have to option to accept or to cancel. When you accept, the Hero will walk up to the zombies, collect them (or flee, if you deny them entry in your army), then move onto the Vampire Princes and collect those.

If you cancel the question box that the Vampire Princes pop up on you, then you get the +300 gold per day. The silly thing is that you aren't notified of this, until you see your gold amount increase.

By the way, the zombies will not be attacked by the enemy player if the script works right, as the zombie object can't be touched by the enemy.

How do you guys get the Ultimate?  Do you not take any skills other than those required to get it?  I am on map 4, and apparently I am limited to level 26 (had to work my ass off to even get that far on Hard).  But I still have 5 levels to go!

One word: Memory Mentor.

Ok, that's two words . Anyway, there is a Memory Mentor in the final mission of the Necro campaign, so you can re-hussle your skills with that one to acquire the Ultimate. Just FYI, I only got the Ultimate on that map through that Mentor as well; whenever I got perks for Summoning Magic, it was always a choice between "Master of Earthblood", "Fire Warriors" and "Elemental Balance" and not the perks I needed.

Same here, I got Earthblood and Balance offered like 3 times in a row ><. That said, it's doable without the help of the MM, but there is a rather good chance that something goes wrong along the way.

Not to mention that Ornella needs to get rid of Fallen Knight if you want the ultimate on her... which I did before I learned that you lose her entirely before the final battle

Got it, thanks!  I just started the 5th map.  Arantir is right on track for the Ultimate, but he also has advanced Attack + Frenzy and Archery, and advanced Logistics + Pathfinding and Death March.  I'll be sorry to lose the latter, since it is great to have during a siege.

By the way, I too hate being railroaded into taking skills I don't want, so I cheat  I don't give myself free skills, but I edit HeroClass.xdb and Skills.xdb in GameMechanics\RefTables so that I am only offered what I want.

Well, by the start of the last map she'll be at level 24-26, and at that map you'll only need her early on.  So forget about the ultimate and just give her some good necro skills.

Heh, the last mission turned out to be pretty easy.  I even got the ultimate without the memory mentor.  And with 5 cities pumping out troops and no time limit, you can waltz though the final battle if you don't rush.

quite frankly, it doesn't matter that much. But you'd be a fool not to make the most use of her Fallen Knight perk. But considering you have to use Arantir in the final battle, you'd probably be better off with her taking a back seat anyway.

There are exactly 3 necromancers to be hired at the taverns, plus Ornella. If you are missing one, you probably forgot one garrisoned in a town.

Hi

I have a problem regarding the third scenario of the Will of Asha campaign (Beast and Bones). One of the goals is to destroy a Demon Portal. Well, this is the only goal i didn't achieve.

I just can't get it destroyed. I don't know how. I can't pass through it or anything else.

Please, help me
