Didn't he ? in the scen where he talked with Isabel he reffered to Asha the spider godess. And Isabel replied: "The spider face? Asha has many faces and you are reffering to the darkest on?" well, not exactly that, but not far away

Now that you mention it, it does get mentioned... but not by Markal himself. He never says "Asha uses all", either.

I had it there, too...
I just verified it to be absolutely sure. The witch hut taught my Heroes Basic Enlightenment. Light Magic is no guarantee, it's pure random.
However, since it is within 1 days worth of travel, you can very easily check if Light Magic is offered (if you *really* want it), and simply restart the map if it isn't.

I Dont think hes the pious sort. He just uses whatever there is to his advantage and i guess he doesnt say thank you for it later either.

Hm, you're right, but my point still stands. Markal is in for his own profits, not to serve Asha. If I recall correctly, he never fights the demons (other than neutrals, of course) and seems more keen on payback against the wizards and knights (those who won't support his reign, anyway).

Actualy it is reffered that under his reign the griffin empire was attacked by demons but actualy by small forces for taking Isabel to Sheogh.But otherwise he was fighting for his own profits.I guess if they had continued a story with him it would be great to see the only "EVIL" character in HOMM5 that you could play and do with him something.

Agreed, he had the power to do many things but he grew complacent and added the elves in his enemy list. He spread too thin having to keep in check the silver cities, the elves and the remainder of the Griffin Empire. His general, Nicolai fell and he had not guarded well Godric so he gave them the chance to combine their strength.

Basically he made all the same stupid mistakes every villainous conquerer ends up doing.
Looking at the summary closely, one might notice that it's the almost the exact same plotline as that of Heroes III: The Shadow of Death.

Or Mutare's downfall. Different means each time but they end up in the same way just because of that tiny mistake. I guess that's why I liked Gauldoth, he could see father than that.

Not to mention Archibald Ironfist, Xenofex, Lucifer Kreegan, Lich King Gryphonheart, Lord Haart, Duke Deezelisk, Gavin Magnus and Elrath knows how many others... they all follow the same sort of pattern: major mistake, huge gap in defences, imminent defeat.
These guys really need some more original ways to depict a villain's downfall. Not following Alaric's "kill sidekick, get killed by protagonist" example of course

It's kinda wired that my arantir is only offered with "fire warrior" and "elemental balance" or "master of earthood" under nature magic, but never once have i seen master of life, which i need to get my howl. Any ideas why this is happening? If it's a bug or something, how do I get master of life (unlearn skills? details plz)
I'm also wondering if i get to use arantir later on the game after i've done all necropolis missions.
