I think most times your heroe has to decide which path to follow, it's hard to balance might and magic in the same heroe, only some can achieve that, in my opinion the elves and dark elves are prior to this condition. Anyway, you can't separate them, might needs magic as much as magic needs might.

Who said anything about balance? You just play your strengths according to what you can yield be it short or long term. Sylvan for instance can do extraordinary things without any magic in lategame - though that's not advised against dark users

Didn't mean balance must be achieved, just showed my opinion about it's advantage, and yes, as you and i said, you've got to find the path according to circumstances. Agree with you about Sylvan, already played with ossir to grant advantage to master hunters and i had a stag bow (is that the name)to negate their range penalty, it all worked, but you must admmit that magic helps them a lot, specially the light arts. Have you ever tried to splitup prisitne unicorns and cast ressurection, it's sylvanna's pure bless upon them.

In the long run, the one who controls more resources and more artifacts always has advantage. The extra resources will be transfered to more heroes, more armies(maybe from other towns) and more artifacts. Even though knights are strong they and costly and will die, while the heroes will not. Besides knights are not as powerful as before. Now with swift mind dungeon's H/R is perfect and with mentoring academies has endless heroes.
Basically Magic beats Might in TOTE.

yeah Knights being "imba" is an old, vastly incorrect myth. Maybe it was like that in vanilla unpatched H5 but now.. when the players' skill increased.. not rly. Haven seems an underdog faction at times (I have never met a really skilled haven player, btw. ~~)
I must do some research of my own with this faction. 8)
And magic beats might, ya, but stronghold does well, and sylvan does well too

don't worry champ, I'm a ToTe noob too
This game really changed in the expansion. I got furious when I picked Deleb, got tent skill first and plague tent/catapult next I couldn't get ballista skill till like 10th level My creeping totally failed because of it and I lost like a noob.

Taking on 90 archdevils/titans or most level 7s except emeralds on week2 is no joke
I doubt any might race can do it ... and the other dark race that can puppet for long, is no match for dungeon at all

Whoa.. 90 arch devils week2? How is that possible?
Seriously.. Played this game some time, but how on earth is that possible on a standard map without 99353 relic class arties lying next to you.
On week 2 you can have like.. 10 SP? Possibly a lot more, but lets say 10.. And like.. 30 mana? (No artifacts included).
Even if you have the corresponding elemental artifact.. you can do like.. 300 damage? and even if you already have arcane training and erratic mana, you can do it like.. 8 times? And 5 times with empowered spells?
That is like 2000 HP you can take by spells.. but the stalkers are invisible only 3 turns, so pretty doubtful you'll shoot that many times..
And 90 arch devils or 90 titans ~ 18000 HP.. how on earth you can dish 18000 damage within three turns of your stalkers' invisibility? After that they just die.. even if you have 7 stacks of 1, which you probably do have, you can score like one hit more..
Even if you hit 3 stacks with meteor shower, increasing your damage to 1200/turn.. and even if you get lucky and manage to get a good atb roll (so you can shoot like 6 times - never mind the lacking mana) it's still not enough (you need at least 3000/turn + at least 3 stacks hit per turn)
Is there something I missed in this game or is it just totally impossible?
There's also another thing I'd like to know..
I never was too hot as an academy player.. but I tried it numerous times. I got screwed by bad spells a couple of times, and I finally got the right set once.
At week 2, I charged towards 20 shadow matriarchs (not an outstanding force, I'd say). And guess what.. they ignored my phoenix and kept shooting until everything was gone. They had like 2 turns of shooting before my phoenix reached them! And I scored high casualties.. Before my phoenix + my magic managed to score decent amount of kills, my meatshields were already DEAD and I LOST. And people keep saying you can take down like.. 40 tier7 units in second week with academy?
I'd need to sacrifice like 60-80 gremlins to do this one without losing.. And its just 20 weak matriarchs.. And I'd be left with 1 gargoyle and empty dwellings against a possible rush Even if my oponent wouldn't rush me, I'd still end up without possibility to creep until the end of the week (no meatshields!)
How is it possible to creep so fast with phoenix? How do you guys do it ;P
I heard a lot of good things about phoenix creeping so I perhaps I just suck.

If you cut their number in half and we play let's fight I can probably do it Otherwise fat chance. At lvl 17, two trade guilds, a phoenix cape and ignite with fireball/wall a warlock can do crazy things.
In any case I always get decent knowledge by week 2 or could be that I was lucky in my last several games. That with intelligence and secrets gives enough mana.

There;s something you missed in this game On almost any map you can reach level 10 in week 1. From then on..its just a breeze...

I think the important spell here is firewall
But of course, that was done on a map like hourglass, which is rich if u decide not to build much buildings, artifacts are easy to buy

Actually SQ, archangels, magmas and blacks are harder to take, the rest of them are just easy...

Lol i have phobia with emerald dragons
Magmas are slow walkers, but the magma needs to take them down is really too much .... that's true

Well, I suck at breaks. That's why I don't like the map with XX level 7 guardians in the middle
check my last post again guys, I posted another of my newby problems there
Samiekl: I mentioned SP, not the level I tend to get massive attack all the time, so 10 SP without arties in 2nd week is a quite good score for me, actually. Yeah, I'm aware of the fact you can get level10 in first week
