"Alright! Stay hidden if you want to, but we need help defending the pokemon center from Bandra! If the only shelter for miles being raised to the ground on some of the coldest mountain days of the year doesn't bother you, then go ahead and stay hidden! Goodbye!"
Changed his tune awful quick, didn’t he? Mina reflected. Did he honestly expect them to believe him when couldn’t keep his story straight for longer than it took to breath? If this guy was bait, his superiors must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel. Only the most dim-witted fool would come out into the open after that—
"I am tired and hungry. If this is some sort of trick, things will not go well."

Stupid, stupid, stupid! Five minutes, five measly minutes and they could have attacked the guy when his back was turned and taken him off guard. If he was just some lunatic out in the mountains, he would have been no worse off (and a good deal better off) than ninety-nine percent of the Starlight Squad. If it had been Bandra, or some other ne’er-do-wells, they would at least have had the advantage of a surprise attack, whatever else happened.
"DON'T SHOOT! IT'S ME! CHRISTIAN!"
Mina started at the fresh bellow. Considered answering back. Then down the road—and significantly above it—someone screamed, a high-pitched, female voice.
Great, so it was an ambush after all!
"Oi! Mina! Is that you guys?! It's ME Christian! Come out, these people are completly harmless!"
And the Zack rushed out after Misty.
Aaand there goes our cover.

Zelgius and Sarah:
"I am tired and hungry. If this is some sort of trick, things will not go well."
A red-haired female trainer steps out from behind the rocks.
Then you hear a voice behind you where previously you hadn’t noticed anyone standing.
"DON'T SHOOT! IT'S ME! CHRISTIAN!"
There stands a younger teen in mostly black, with brown hair and blue eyes.
"Oi! Mina! Is that you guys?! It's ME Christian! Come out, these people are completly harmless!"
One of your red-shirt sentries is taken by surprise and screams.
A split second later a dark trainer trailed by a Vigoroth and a Mr. Mime dashes out after the girl, throws up a Barrier and tries to send a Yawn-bubble into Zelgius’ face, interrupted only because the trainer behind you has sent out a Hitmonchan. And then there’s chaos as your sentries react, sending out all their Pokemon.
((A Meowth, Shinx, and Cherubi and a Clamperl, Hoothoot and Drifloon.))

"Urgh, this is not gonna be fun..." Christian muttered to himself. "Any chance we all recall our pokémons and sit down to have a nice, friendly chat? I would like to talk to my boss if he is with you. Or any of my superiors!" ((Christian suspects you have been in contact with Starlight))
Christian turned back at the trainers on the mountain top "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! THESE GUYS ARE NOT BRANDRA! ABORT THE AMBUSH! ABORT THE AMBUSH!" he shouted before turning to the man and woman from the centre "Cause I do take it that was suppose to be your ambush against the brandra, right? The one you o'so proudly declared back at the centre?"

After sitting and waiting for maybe 2-3 minutes. Things quickly changed, For behind a rock a girl with short red hair appeared. Her age seemed to be similar to Sarah's and she was talking something about being tired and hungry.
Sarah didn't get time to listen as another person in this case a boy emerged with 2 Pokemons with him, a Mr Mime and a Vigoroth.
For behind her another person appeared with 2 pokemons that seemed to be intercepting the Mr Mime and the Vigoroth.
As he came forth Sarah recognized him and saw that he was one of the trainers from the Pokemon Center.
Just as he got to them, the 2 red-shirt sentries panicked and called out their pokemons. The newly arrived guy started screaming and the looked at Sarah and Zelgius.
"Cause I do take it that was suppose to be your ambush against the brandra, right? The one you o'so proudly declared back at the centre?"
Sarah replied:
"Yes of course it was supposed to be against Bandra!"
"But what do we do now, and how is it that this guy dares to send his Pokemons after us?!" Sarah shouted and pointed at the dark-skinned boy(Zack).
Sarah called Trapinch out and warned the boy:
"Tell your pokemons to stop, There is no need to fight! Do you really think your 2 Pokemons have any chance against us?"
Sarah's Nidoran and Trapinch prepared themselves for battle.

The instant Zack's pokemon attacked, Zelgius's had taken a defensive formation around him, Snorunt and Arron flanking his sides, and Scyther in front.
"D@mnit, you young fool! I'm your ally, what do you think you are doing!" Zelgius cried at him. "I came out here expecting to fight ruthless Bandra battle hardened soldiers, not a kid!" He glared at Zack, "Don't force my hand, boy, this is a battle you can't win. Just let me help you, because night is falling quickly up here."
((And yes, night time on most mountains is around 5:30, not even kidding))

((@gnome: Which means we still have ~1-1 ½ hours to go the pitiful distance we need to go to reach the Center. And this is assuming a giant wall of ice is going to fall from the sky and kill everyone the moment the sun vanishes, which it won’t.))
Yeah, like we really need your help. Mina was short on sleep and getting shorter on patience. Even if the guy wasn’t distracting them deliberately to, say, have the Starlight Squad attacked while they were distracted, he was slowing down the mission. (Though the fact that he was showing an arrogance that surpassed Altros’ and was lying and threatening them wasn’t helping his case.)
So maybe he was just a lunatic. Mina didn’t care. She motioned to Brona and Draloed and tilted her head in the direction of the uncivil discussion, texting:
~This is wasting time and risking lives. Let’s go knock these lunatics over and clear the way to the Center.~ They knew where Bandra was; the fools could limp back back the way they came in relative safety once they were dealt with.
To Christian (now that she knew he was there) she texted:
~If you value your Squad friends, help us out, because I promise you more of them are going to die if this idiot doesn’t stop being a roadblock!~

Misty puts her palm to her forehead, slapping it. "EVERYBODY STOP!" she stands between everybody. Stripes is now confused, but stays by Misty's side turning first one way then another.
She turns to the ones stating they are going after the same group the group she was with is. "If you want a fight, we can fight, but if you really are after the same people we are after, I would like to get to the Center and get my pokemon healed."
She turns to the one who attacked us and then asked if they could put the pokemon away and talk about it. "We didn't attack you, you attacked us..put your pokemon away, and we can talk."
Then she turned to her group. "GUYS. There was no way of them knowing how many were here, if you would have just been patient, even if they attacked, we would have been able to ambush them. Now it's too late, we can't take another fight. You know this."
She turns back to the others. "Well are we going to fight or not? I don't care either way. I am going to get to that center and take care of all these hurt pokemon. One way or another."
Misty was angry, frustrated, and worried. Too many hurt pokemon, and everybody was being even more stubborn then she normally is. They had to help the injured pokemon. Nothing else mattered. Even if that meant being captured.

Sarah told the two sentries that followed them to not give their pokemons any orders unless the dark-skinned boy and his pokemons attacked again.
Then she told the red-haired girl.
"I want to go to back to the center, so I will gladly follow you there. It's too cold out here anyway." She added still freezing. (she's not freezing that much she's just a whiner =P.)
Sarah walked away a bit removing her from the main scene, her Nidoran and Trapinch followed her but kept a watchful eye on the Vigoroth and the Mr Mime.

A beep from his pokédex made Christian pick it up. He had gotten a message.
"~If you value your Squad friends, help us out, because I promise you more of them are going to die if this idiot doesn’t stop being a roadblock!~"
"Squad friends? Starlight?! snow!" he thought
"We didn't attack you, you attacked us..put your pokemon away, and we can talk."
"Ehm...No? That guy" Christian pointed at Zack "Had ordered an attack against this guy here." pointed at Zelgius "BEFORE I ordered my pokémon to intercept. YOU were the aggressors here, just so we got that clear on the record. But ANYWAY..." Christian turned to Zelgius and Sarah "Please recall your pokémon or atleast tell them to stand down, these guys are with Starlight squad." he said and started fishing through his equipment for the Starlight squad badge/mark/whatever he had to prove himself a member of the organisation((if there is such a thing)) and showed it to them. "Special infiltrator agent Christian of Starlight Squad. You know, the big "we fight brandra" organisation out to save all of us. And stop being so god damn arrogant while your at it." Christian looked spesifically on Zelgius "If you try to demand things from others, then of course they are not going to listen."
Christian then recalled Scyther and said "Stand down Hitmonchan, you know these guys, right?"

Stacey got tired of messing with the book, and put it away. She didn't feel like waiting behind anymore either. She started to approach the groups of people. They were all blurry, but seemed much larger in number than they should be, for her usual group. She stepped close, rubbing her eyes clear. It all cleared up. The first she saw was one she hadn't seen for awhile.
"Oh, hey Chri...."
The large amount of pokemon out was quite worrying.
"Um....Hello?"
Her first thought was bandits, but wasn't too sure about that, with Christian in the mix.

And @B-E-T-A: We’ll say it’s a badge or easily-hidden pin of some kind. I’d say it’d be some kind of built-in ID into your Pokedex, but given the nature of your mission that might be a bad idea.  ))
Mina fingered the Pokeballs on her belt, still listening but ready to back Zack up if it came to blows, with or without Brona and Draloed. It wasn’t fair that he should get pounded alone for something that was Misty’s idea if anything.
At last she could take no more. She called out her own Pokemon and strode out of hiding. Their cover was blown anyway and Christian was vouching for the idiots’ allegiance (though that wasn’t as reassuring as it could have been), so there wasn’t much reason to stay hidden now.

Mina stopped dead just long enough for Misty to see the expression on her face. Despite the dark circles under her eyes the Johto trainer’s gaze was sharp and cold and unlike anything she’d ever given her friend before. It said without words that someone was going to be in a great deal of trouble once the immediate crisis was handled.
If WE had just been patient?! Blowing our cover was YOUR IDEA! Come to that, so was attacking them with sleep moves!
Then she very deliberately turned her back on the redhead to deal with more pressing concerns.
“…YOU were the aggressors here, just so we got that clear on the record. But ANYWAY..."
“Is this before or after they set up an ambush and tried to goad us into the open with empty threats and blatant lies?” Mina asked, voice icily pleasant: everyone present knew the answer was “after”. The words were ostensibly to Christian, but it was clear she was addressing the man in white and his little band of lunatics. “Because if these are really the friends and allies they claim to be, I can think of at least three courses of action that are more logical and helpful than blocking the road with their Pokemon while their stooges wait to ambush anyone who comes by.”*
“We are not his stooges,” a male voice from above protested.
I’m willing to take your word for it this time, Christian. But I hope you have a blasted good reason for this level of idiocy.
((*You have to admit that it would look suspicious. ))

Stacey fell over when Mina revealed herself. She had not seen her earlier, and was startled by it. Mona tumbled along the ground, after falling from the shoulder.
Stacey stared blankly at Mina, as she started her complaints. It seemed there was a fight going on. Though, it appeared this was more with words of aggravation, rather than pokemon.

"Look, about the ambush, I had really nothing to do with it. These guys over here have been holed up in the pokémon centre for awhile jumping when they saw a shadow move, so I guess they really thought this through. I just wanted to go and confront whoever it was who came down this road, but everyone in the centre went bananas when they saw people coming down the road, and unfortunatly the majority agreed that it had to Brandra." Christian pointed at the people while ranting "So for me it looked like you were the aggressors. Hah, I love logic, it always works the way you want it to work." Christian silently laughed. "Anyway" Christian looked at the group "'Hi guys, long time no see!', 'Hi Christian! We thought we lost you back in the spectral dimension.'" Christian changed his voice in between the dialoge with himself. "'Naah I'm fine, thanks for mentioning it by the way. Anyway what's up and how are you? You look like you've seen the worse end of an tauros flock. There is a pokémon centre just down the road here," Christian pointed with his tumb "how about we go there, get you fixed up and then we can catch up?'" Christian gave an stiff smile and waited for reaction.

Mina tried to hide her amusement. She was tired, it was a lot harder than it should have been. “That would probably be for the best,” she agreed. Then she glanced at Stacey. Drat, with her here we can’t just send a text message up to the Squad, can we?* “Someone should go tell Elren and the others it’s safe to move on. I’ll go.”
Before I try to strangle someone.
To Brona and the rest of the group, she said, “Contact me if anything comes up.” Then with a quick caress for both Sandshrew and Oodramer, she recalled her Pokemon and left to fill in the Starlight Squad.
((*Yes I know Brona and Christian can. Mina’s tired remember. ))

((Ok, I did my best, it was really tough to write this, as it was quite difficult to maintain which events came first and on the same time find a valid excuse for have been passive [I have been waiting for mamga and wog more or less]))
A lot of noise from unfamiliar voices went around in the air while Zack had commanded his pokemons. He knew to ignore whatever they said, it wasn't the time to be slowed down by what could be simple tricks.
A trainer he hadn't seen immediately managed to block the sleep attack and got an attack in on mr. mime.
It was too dark and Zack was too afraid to remove his focus to see how badly hurt his mr. mime was, it could have been a weak attack, or his mr. mime could be unconsciouss by now, he didn't know.
"Think now... think!", he thought to himself, "you know how to counter this setup, when the others come forward, we'll manage these guys easily"
Then all the other trainers on the opposite site called out their pokemons much before anyone Zack would recognize as an ally had shown themselves.
Zack was ready to make his next move, expecting the rest of his team mates to come forward any moment now, when Misty suddenly turned around to each party and started talking.
"Misty this isn't the time for words" Zack thought to himself, when Misty suddenly turned around and said:
"GUYS. There was no way of them knowing how many were here, if you would have just been patient..."
Zacks mind went blank when he heard those words, re-wording them inside his head, not paying attention to the rest Misty said, very confused. Had he jeopardized the entire mission, the safety of these people? He wasn't sure, the only thing he was certain of was that he now had lost his focus and couldn't seem to regain it as the thoughts drove all over his mind. Not certain if it was his state of mind or if he was taking an actual beating in his confusion, but it felt like hell! And the voices, all those voices yelling and Zack couldn't seperate one from the other, he couldn't make any sense of it, he couldn't focus at all.
He felt anger, anger towards the mission, he couldn't even remember anymore what all these last evens were for and the close call fights with Branda was like a distant memory, a dream encapsulated in a fog which he could no longer enter.
Suddenly he could recognize a familiar shade, it was Stacey, looking as confused as he imagined himself looking. He quickly spotted Mina close by, her pokemons were out and then she said something! What was it? Was it... a name? Yes it was, she said a name, she said: "Christian" And what did she say more? That she "would take his word"? So these were really friends, or at least this guy were... this guy, Zack remembered him very well, he was the one who used forceful moves against passive moves that at worst would put someone asleep! Could he really be a friend?
"Mina, who's this guy?" Zack caught himself thinking, before regaining focus to the battle, ready to strike if needed.
He needed answers fast, but he wasn't going to loose focus again, not this time, but before he could actually ask Mina, she had already recalled her pokemon.
Zack decided that this must mean these people could be trusted, so he looked around, still seeing a lot of pokemons standing around, he recalled his own pokemons.
He was reliefed as it seemed that his Mr. Mime had not taken any serious damage from the attack, though he was still uncomfortable with the situation.

((Okay okay I’ll crunch the numbers.
Pursuit from Christian’s Scyther does 28 to 33 damage, super effective, no STAB. After Filter that’s 21 to 24 damage. He had 48 (45+3 from the level up) HP left to start with. He’s at about half health.
And the ‘taking his word’ bit was her thoughts ohforf, it wasn’t said out loud.))
Mina grabbed Zack’s wrist on her way out, partially out of pity for the poor kid (this was not, after all, his fault) and partially to protect him from the idiots in the poorly-concieved ambush. On the way she filled him in on Christian—that he was a friend of the group who worked with the Starlight Squad, they’d gotten separated during a fight with Aidrelas, but had been keeping in sporadic contact with him since then via Pokedex. Last she remembered hearing from him he’d been trying to intercept some kind of package from Bandra in a place called Rieva. She left out the bit about the Ternai Town attack for now, however.

((@Kareeah: For the las hour-hour and a half, the sun gives about 0 warmth when above 2,000 ft. above sea level, so it would be becoming steadly colder as they stood on the mountain.))
Zelgius clicks his toung once, and all three of his pokemon look considerably more relaxed, the Scyther even sat down... (As best it could)
((This happens before Mina storms off))
"I'm sorry, everyone, for being so irratable. I guess that getting only a hours of sleep at night for the last five days because of Bandra and people arguing brings out the worst in me." Zelgius wasn't yelling and actually sounded apologetic. "At the center, the scout who came in was almost convinced that you had to be Bandra, and it actually made sense, at the time. Until I saw you."
"But if you are the Starlight Squad" *Zelgius says this somewhat sarcastically while looking at Mina* "Scratch that, you are the Starlight Squad," He quickly said to avoid another argument, "then trust me when I say that I am willing to guide you to the pokemon center quickly and help your wounded in whatever way I can."
"My pokemon can help carry any wounded or supplies that you have, and they would be perfectly willing to do so. And you," Zelgius pointed at Mina, "I don't know what problem you have with trusting people, but I was willing to come out here and talk with you. I didn't disguise myself or hide my purposes I didn't lie to you, and I wasn't trying to get in your way. I was waiting for you to come talk to me. The trainers up there," He gestured to the two on the vantage point, "are there to make sure that no one actually from Bandra sneeks up on us and tries to ambush us."
"Now, I'm willing to admit that my aproach was wrong, that I could have handled the situation better, but you don't have the luxury of judging and condemning people you don't know right now. You have people who need help, and I was offering that. I'm still offering that, but I still don't think that you care at all." Zelgius's voice had been even, non-judgemental the entire time. "Well, guess what. I'm not asking you to like me, I'm asking you to trust me. It's a big difference, and I hope, even if it's just for my sake, that it is enough."
"Oh, sorry for saying that you were loud enough to wake a Snorlax, by the way." He said, almost like he was saying goodye. He turned to Misty. "Thank you for trusting me, I will not disappoint you." Last, he turned to Zack. "Boy, you're a little jumpy, and a little trigger happy, but you only attacked because you thought that I was you enemy and that I was going to harm your friend, showing that you have a good heart. The fact that you went for me means that you also have a good head on your shoulders. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Alright, as Sarah stated, 'I'm freezing' (Because he is wearing a T-shirt), Let's stop sitting here and get moving. Scyther, Aaron, follow these people and help them with whatever they need help with." Both of them started to follow Mina. "Anyone who wants a nice, easy path to the pokemon center, follow me. Also, girl," Zelgius said to Misty, "If you need some food, then here." *He throws his bag to her* "There should be enough to feed a small army in there."

Now, if you'll excuse me," Christian recalled Hitmonchan and walked over to Mina "were is the rest of the Starlight squad? I got to report to my superiors, and if possibly, the Elder." he looked around activily looking for his squadmates.

She asked nobody specific, and turned to look at Zelgius.
"Haha I thought we agreed on the mountain side just to meet up with these people. Weren't we supposed to just wait here for them to appear?"
She asked and couldn't help giggling because of the irony.
"Well this turned out the be quite the misunderstanding."

“I’m sorry,” Mina interrupted coolly, “but we already have a map. And the best help you can give our wounded right now is to get out of the way. So thank you.”
She smiled with razorblade sweetness and turned and left before he could say any more, motioning for Christian to follow. Let the lunatic rant to someone who cares. She wasn’t going to let good people bleed out and die because one contemptible idiot felt the need to soap box.

Everyone but Jak:
The Starlight Squad and its escort regroups and within half an hour, everyone is back at the Pokemon Center. (Elren was suitably surprised and a little worried to see Christian, but doesn’t make a fuss.)
The trainers trying to evacuate Nurse Joy have just managed to get her out the front door as you arrive: she quickly leaves the well-intentioned individuals behind with a cry of “Elder!” and within moments the two are chatting like old friends.
It transpires that this Nurse Joy is also a Starlight Squad member. She obtains the most pertinent details from Elder Elren ((that some of our people are dying and need medical attention NOW )) and within moments has whisked the most critically wounded away into the back and press-ganged some of the remaining trainers into assisting—much to the latter’s bemusement. A line of less critical cases trails out into the lobby and someone’s taken over the Pokemon Center kitchen, which begins emitting somewhat-edible smells. A great deal of chatter occurs as those that missed the battle for Stardust City and the ensuing retreat pester the uninjured Starlight Squad members for details, sentries are set, and all the other miscellaneous details are attended to as quickly as possible.
Beneath the surface is the knowledge that the brief respite might not last long, and Bandra could catch up at any moment.
