Mark nodded, looking down at the grunts. "What are they doing?" The boy muttered under his breath. "Yeah, let's get out of here..." he looked for a relatively clear path in the right general direction and started along it. "Unless you have a better idea, I think that we should avoid the roads for a while." He told Mina.

Stacey makes it a ways in the direction she wanted to head, and then stops. She doesn't know if she should head towards where Ivan was headed or not. She decides to wait a while. Ivan eventually shows. She checks her map for where the two locations where.

"I wish we knew where the others went. We should probably head out of here quickly though. Perhaps straight south, along the west side of that watery mass, then south east from there? Maybe they will head for the water too. Actually..."

She types out a message that she's 'Thinking of heading for the water down south.', and sends it to her friends.

"Sounds good to me." Mina took out her 'dex and realized someone had already beaten her to it. Stacey.

"Stacey says she's heading for that pond or whatever it is to the south. Should we meet up with her?"

Stacey:

Misty:

"Clara doesn't mind," the older woman insists, but uses the Potion anyway. The Combee seems very surprised at this and looks at her trainer with disbelief.

Mark shrugged nervously, "I don't know, but I don't think that we should really be sending messages... if there is a traitor among us, and Bandra has a signal interceptor, then... well... I don't think it's safe to talk over the 'dex." The boy scratched at the back of his head with his prosthetic limb, still looking nervously in the direction he had been going. "It might not be safe to go there..." The boy was in obvious shell-shock.

Brona finally woke, his body numb and his vision blurred. He tried to swear but found he was too exhausted (and cencored) to do so. Brona tried looking around, searching for Dien or Puppetman. No luck, unfortunately, he couldn't make his eyes adjust and couldn't even make out where he were. Finally he managed to mutter a few words.

"Someone here?"

Mark and Mina:

((Very very good of you to realize that. ))

The Starlight Squad member checked his own 'dex. "Pokedex frequencies are pretty secure, and they'd have to out find which frequency it was first," the Starlight Squad member offered. "And you people aren't using the Starlight Squad text group, because I didn't get that. So it should be safe."

Mina paled. "Yes, but if they got a hold of anyone in our group they could just use their Pokedex and then they wouldn't need to intercept anything. It would go there automatically."

The Starlight Squad member looked annoyed. "Brona was with you people, didn't you get the Decrypt App off of him?"

"Yes, but we didn't make a group password." Under her breath, Mina grumbled, "And even if we had, I'd only give about a 50-50 chance for anyone to remember it." More normally, she continued. "But what should I do about this?" She gestured to her Pokedex. "I can ignore it, and hope that it's either one of ours and everyone is fine, or if it's from Bandra that no one else bothered to check their 'dex." Her deprecating tone implied she felt this last was a good possibility. ((Nooo faith in friends at all at this point. )) "I could send a general message telling everyone to stop texting." Another thought occurred. "Or I can send out a message saying we're going in a completely different direction than we are so Bandra loses us, but then we run the risk of fooling our friends, since we don't really have any way of telling them what we're doing."

----------------

Brona:

The words come out muffled and it is then that you realize you've been blindfolded as well as gagged, and bound hand and foot to compound matters.

Feeling around as best you can you realize you're indoors for the time being—the floor is smooth and the air is stuffy: the smell of makeup, sweat and old clothing has replaced grass, dirt and smoke. You seem to be alone, but you can make out the muffled sounds of Bandra Grunts nearby complaining about cleaning up the after-battle mess, so presumably you're in Keida still.

((Your Pokemon, pack, etc. are no longer on your person BTW.))

----------------

Misty:

"All right dearie, we can try that if you like."

((Train for how long?))

----------------

Stacey:

You continue on through the dark.

((Encounter roll = 32))

You arrive without incident about an hour later. The place is ringed by a tall wooden fence, old and weathered but still a formidable barrier. The occasional breeze brings steam and warm air with it, and by sneaking a glance through an empty knothole you can see the reflection of water beyond the fence—it appears to be a hot spring. There are also definite signs of people here: footprints of varying ages march alongside the fence, and in the distance you can see flashlights.

Especially not... not..." Mark was actually visibly trembling now, the battle-calm had left him entirely.

Mark and Mina:

Mina finally woke up to the other trainer's discomfort. "Hey, you okay?" The answer to that was pretty obvious, so she continued. "Calm down, we're going to make it out of this." She patted him on the shoulder as best she could manage while still moving, but unfortunately that was the most she could do for the time being.

"So what's the plan, fearless leader?" the Starlight Squad member prodded.

"We'll do what we were going to do in the first place: we'll cut around the rift and keep going for the coast. Hopefully the rift will keep them busy enough with whatever-it-is that we can get away, and once we're there we'll try and use the shore to break up our trail until we find a place to hole up for a few hours so the Pokemon recover. Then we'll try to break south—we'll worry about where we go from there when we get out of Bandra territory."

"And the message?"

"I'll send out a text on the way to warn everyone off; I don't want to risk anyone getting caught because they didn't think far enough ahead to worry about it."

And it was, sadly, a distinct possibility that no one would worry about it. Bad enough they'd fallen for the trap in the first place, Mina reflected. They (or at least herself and Stacey; admittedly neither Brona nor—what-was-her-name—Sarah!—had been around for Altros) ought to have known better by now, this was the second time Bandra had set a trap like this! Part of her wanted to argue that the Starlight Squad had been fighting Bandra for longer and she ought to have been able to trust their judgment, but it was argued down. With the amount of infighting between Elren's three lieutenants—who were now in charge, Mina realized with a jolt—she shouldn't have been surprised they'd been tricked. And they were, after all, losing the war even before this, else they would not have needed rescuing from the Shrine of Light. She should have known better.

But it won't happen again! she promised herself.

"We can meet up with the others when we hit civilization, hopefully." Maybe contact the Nurse Joys, Mina mused privately. They talked to each other, didn't they? Or, wait, she had that Phone App—that showed the caller's face, that would be harder to fake—worry about it when we're safe! "Right now, any time we spend looking for each other is time Bandra can spend looking for us."

Once their plan (such as it was) was hammered out, Mina focused on her Pokedex, trying to keep her message informative while keeping it from clueing Bandra in to their whereabouts if they were snooping (and keeping the screen from giving them away).

~'Dexes may be compromised. Will be under texting silence henceforth until safe. Suggest you do the same.~ She set it to broadcast to the whole group, then got ready to hit 'Send.'

((Last call for protests, suggestions etc.))

----------------

Misty:

((Dropping Harden as requested.))

----------------

Stacey:

Stacey's worries prove to be well founded; closer examination reveals the flash of a spiky purple 'B' on one shirt, illuminated in passing by a flashlight. Unfortunately her cover is blown cleanly when her Sandshrew lets out a hiss; the light swings around and pins her and Ivan before either can try to hide.

The centermost Grunt's eyes go wide, the expression barely visible behind the beam of the flashlight. "Intruders! Intruders!"

Pokeballs open, releasing their inhabitants and temporarily illuminating the area. The good news is, these lack the gleam of good health the Keida Pokemon had, on top of the impression that they seem to be much less experienced. Stacey can make out a total of five Pokemon between the Grunts before the light fades, though only three are currently out.

((Ooo-kay.))

The older woman bids you goodbye and tells you you can find her at the Herb Shop if you need her. You then retire to the Pokemon Center; it is about 10AM. Seeing as you've only been awake for about four hours, injuries or no, it takes you a while before you manage to doze.

((And I'm going to pause you for now, seeing as you're already a few days ahead of everyone else.))

Mark and Mina:

Mina nods and sends the text, then the three of you take off north.

((Roll = 89, 30))

You skirt the rift and the Grunts nearby without notice. Mina has to pause at one point to pad the scrape on her ribs (as the exertion has reopened the wound again), but otherwise the mad dash to the coast is uneventful. Getting down to the shore proves to be a little more difficult, until Tomas locates a narrow path zig-zagging down the cliffs—barely visible in the dark.

The three of you follow the beach for a while, your only company the roar of the surf and the occasional distant Pokemon. (Mark finds a Heart Scale washed up on shore, exposed by the tide.) Then, just around a bend, you see something huge and pale lying across the beach in front of you, its sides gleaming in the scattered starlight. From it you can hear faint clicking noises.
