"Yes but... if we run into something like that Milotic again, something that disciplined with the ability to wipe everyone out in one shot... Well, having it go berserk on one pokemon or person is better than losing that badly that quickly again."
"But that's the problem. We don't know if it will only go berserk on one person or Pokemon. It could very easily make things worse."
"Why are you fighting Bandra?"
"Because they tried to kill me and a lot of other people just for coming into the region. Because even if I wanted to leave" which she did not "they wouldn't let me go without killing me. And because I should, and because I can."
The truth was, that if fate had turned out a little differently for her she probably wouldn't be in Helnith at all. Mere months ago she had had a roof over her head, a regular (if boring and minimum wage) job, and enough food to feed herself. She might not have had a lot of friends, but not being an exceptionally social person that hadn't mattered; she might have been bored as a clerk at the PokeMart, but she was patient enough to wait for something better to come along. If she had still had all that when the time came, she probably would have ignored the letter from a random stranger a region away. Spam mail. Unimportant.
But then had come the fire. And Fate's note. And Mina found that even though her current situation was stressful, dangerous, and occasionally terrifying it felt...right. What she was doing mattered, in a tangible, measurable way; she had scarcely even thought about the ruin of her apartment or the fact that she was effectively homeless since she arrived.
And to add to that she still had a roof over her head most nights, she still was fed and clean, and she was doing something useful...she wasn't dead just because she'd lost her home and basically everything she'd scraped together up to that point, and the knowledge that she could rebuild from nothing was at once reassuring and powerful.
And she had her Pokemon. She had long since regretted not starting out as a trainer when she was ten; now that she had, she never wanted to go back, and would have willingly gone through worse than she had already to keep them...
...which was good, because from what she could tell that was exactly what was going to happen.
"Unfortunately, yeah. And you still need to be getting plenty of sleep, right? I'm low on pokeballs right now, so we'll probably have to wait. Besides, your pokemon should be ready for training soon, we should be fine."
Mina had no real objections to that, so she just nodded.
((Trainers: ))
Mina frowned. Lapras wasn't in need of healing with the battle just starting, but Oodramer was slow; if that Teddiursa knew any Fighting moves they might be in trouble...
"Bubblebeam the bear!" Mina motioned towards the Teddiursa, but got ready to re-direct her Pokemon if Lapras got seriously hurt.

The occasional Chinchou and Lanturn flicker in the distance, but nothing bothers you on the way down and eventually you find the ship and the hole therein where the Huntail was earlier. You quickly discover it's still there, as its serpentine form twists out of the hull at your approach.

Alright, a mankey there is then. Brona bent down on one knee, smiling at the mankey. "Hey there." he said, keeping his voice low and soothing. "The evil Bandra took out your trainer when they found out he worked undercover for the Starlight Squad. He managed to give me your pokeballs just before they took him, I've been running for two days now to keep you safe. Will you fight with me to avenge your trainer and take down those who took out him?"

The Mankey looks at you puzzled for a moment, but it either believes you or it simply doesn't care about the change in ownership. After a moment it hops onto your knee, and from there it climbs about your head and shoulders, sniffing occasionally.

He recalled Mankey and pulled out the second pokeball then took a deep breath, ready to give the same speech. ((You may as well skip past the speech, pretend my char already gave it .. as I am pretty much gonna copy-past it)).

Stacey waves for the pokemon((forgot what it's called, and don't have time to look it up)) to attack however it sees fit, since calling out attacks didn't seem to work properly last time.

Tunabu freezes in indecision and the Huntail attacks. Startled, the Clamperl throw attacks wildly in your direction as well.
Huntail uses Bite!

It's not very effective...
The serpentine Pokemon strikes, its speed far greater than it could have ever managed on land.
Clamperl B uses Water Gun!
Tunabu is hit for 15 damage!
It's not very effective...
The Water move seems to do more damage than you expected; it helps that you're surrounded by it on all sides.

The three of you and the Pokemon find yourselves being battered and torn at by raging waters.

"Fine! Use your flail attack on that huntail!" Stacey lets out, in a bubbly garbled command, almost angrily. How some of these pokemon were to manage on their own before trainers, and lack that same ability afterwards, she did not know. It wasn't like this pokemon was part of her team, and would obey her without question anyway.

He recalled geodude and put the pokeball in his pocket. Now to find some way to sell sandshrew... he thought.

The Huntail lets out a fearsome wail that echoes all around you. ((Roll = 35)) Even the Clamperl look briefly frightened but Tunabu takes the brunt of it, shuddering under your hands.
Tunabu's Defense falls sharply!

Either the Tunabu is able to make sense of your garbled commands this time, or it was going to use that attack anyway; she Flails wildly, and you and your two teammates are flung wide and sent spinning in all directions by the whirlpool still trapping Tunabu.
Clamperl B uses Iron Defense!
Clamperl B's Defense rises sharply!

Most of the settlement is centered around the town's plaza. Beyond that there's a road headed east past a statue of some large, long-necked bird Pokemon, and another headed north; questioning the locals informs you that the latter leads to the Power Plant that Bandra built recently, before the town was retaken.

Well, she did have a point there. But still... "Then keep it as a last resort. If you have no other options, make a gamble and hope that they loose control in the worst possible way for them. Maybe it will give us a chance to escape if we keep your move in reserve, maybe it will get us killed faster, but if It's all we have left then don't hold back." He shook his head slowly, putting his hands in his pockets, "Hopefully it will never come to that..."

Mark nodded along with each of her points, taking his hand out of his pocket to clutch his prosthetic limb. He pulled it out of his pocket and held his palm towards the sky. "I'm not fighting for revenge." He stated simply, almost sounding a little disgusted by the thought. "And even though I will never... I can never forgive them, I don't want any justice either." He clenched the fingers of his robotic limb as if he was trying to capture the sunlight glittering on its black surface, "I want to stop them from hurting anyone else like they hurt me."
Mark could remember waking up in the hospital, too drugged to even know where he was and he couldn't remember what had happened. Mark remembered Will, his brother and the last family he had, visiting every day until he recovered; The family of those that had lost their sons coming to visit him in the hospital, trying to show strength while the pain in their eyes broke through more clear than the morning. How Zelg had started hearing voices and suffered from massive post traumatic stress, and Alan Lorend's funeral.
He had been close to despair, a pathetic cripple who's only family was an estranged brother in law. No friends, no job, his pokemon all injured as well, there was almost nothing for him in this world. And then he heard that Bandra was still waging their private war on innocent people, and he knew what he had to do. If Bandra had just stopped, Mark would not have come... but of course, they didn't have that kind of foresight and wouldn't really care about pissing off a crippled kid that they had defeated already. Probably a mistake.
Pouring almost all of his inheritance money into the operation, Mark had his arm replaced with the prosthetic limb he sports now so that he could function like a normal man, he gritted through the pain as his resolve grew. But all the resolve in the world wouldn't have helped a broke kid get to a war-torn country And then Zelgius broke out of the asylum and gave the trainer the perfect excuse. He did really want to help Zelgius and to get his friend back home so that he could recover but...
"If I can protect even one person... then it was worth it."

"Alright, got both of them! Okay Lapras, let's use Ice Shard on that teddy bear!"

"Then why don't we lay a trap for it?" Christian smiled to himself, took off his hardhat with the lantern and put it on Verett "Keep on following it, if it takes a turn that is unusual, return here." Christian told the sloth pokémon.
He then released geodude "You and I are going to lay here in wait. Hide yourself amongst the rocks and get ready to ambush!" The geodude nodded and disappeared from Christian's sight. Christian then laid down on the ground and got comfortable, and there, he waited...

After some struggle you manage to rescue the Tunabu from the three-on-one fight you threw her into and make your way through the dark water back to the boat. Alvin helps the three of you climb aboard; even with the shadows cast by the boat lights obscuring his face, you can tell the search results from the other teams isn't good.
