((Quick Claw Roll = 7 – and again! XD))

((Obedience Roll = 51))
Oodramer uses Bubblebeam! ((Roll = 97))
Attack missed!

Taillow remains perched on the machine, watching the flying Bandra Pokemon warily.

Skarmory uses Peck! ((Roll = 69))
Drifblim is hit for 6 damage!

Budew uses Mega Drain! ((Roll = 95))
Attack missed!

After missing yet again, the Budew bursts into tears.

Lapras uses Sing! ((Roll = 62))

The Drifblim seems unaffected by Lapras' song. After a moment, you realize you can hear the sound of helicopter rotors underneath it.

Kirlia uses Confusion! ((Roll = 47))
Drifblim is hit for 7 damage!

Chimecho uses Confusion! ((Roll = 7))
Drifblim is hit for 6 damage!

Corphish uses Bubblebeam! ((Roll = 15)) ((Roll = 12))
Drifblim is hit for 11 damage!

Lapras takes 12 damage from Poison!
Oodramer takes 9 damage from Poison!
Kirlia takes 6 damage from Poison!
Corphish takes 8 damage from Poison!

The Taskmaster and his Pokemon disappear through the hole in the roof. The sound of helicopter blades overhead is much louder; it seems unlikely you'll be able to catch the Taskmaster now.

((Of course regardless of him getting away, you still won, so here is your boss fight XP:

Mark watched the Taskmaster get away and sighed, recalling all of his pokemon besides Tailow and sending out Ariados. Oh, he recalled Oodromere as well. "Alright, it's alright, girls? Let's see if we can heal our pokemon back to full. Tailow, while we wait you should probably use Double team as much as you can and Focus energy again... And, uh, you can stop defending the machine now. You did a good job little buddy."

"Well, two of them are a friend's. I was at the pokemon center getting them healed while she was in here when Bandra attacked and..." That's when he realized... "I have Mina's strongest pokemon." He said this with a dull voice, eyes wide in shock. He pointed at the machine, which was still busy healing his pokemon and Mina's up. "How much longer does that thing need?" He asked, a hint of desperation coming into his voice. That text she had sent... Damn! Why did I let this guy delay me so much? He growled, mentally smacking himself in the forehead.

Mark ran over to the machine and picked up his pokemon, sending out Skarmory, telling him to "Use Agility as much as you can," and he almost sent his other pokemon out but remembered that basically all of them would be poisoned, and Lapras wouldn't be able to move anyway. "Which way to the exit?"

The Coordinators seem to catch your mood, because the blonde with the Budew answers:

"There's a fire exit nearby." And with that she shows you the way out.

((You're on the east side, between the Contest Hall and house #3 just south of the well.))

Once outside the Contest Hall, you can see that most of Bandra is retreating: two of three helicopters have picked up most of the attacking force and are putting distance between themselves and the town. The third, however, is hovering over the town square in a heavy cloud of smoke, sending attacks at the Contest Hall to the frustration of the town's defenders—the smoke is keeping most of their Pokemon from responding in kind. A rope ladder is hanging down from the helicopter, presumably for the use of lagging Grunts.

These seem to be well on their way; a Grunt is smashing his way out of the Mart, a second is bolting from the Pokemon Center and a third has paused just at the Center entrance. All three have sacks over their shoulders, and the third is standing over a fallen trainer at the Center door; he has Pokeballs cradled in one arm and is tugging at the trainer's backpack with his free hand.

Mark had released the rest  of his pokemon (besides Lapras) in the hallway behind them once they had left the poisoned spikes area, telling Kirlia to use Double Team, Corphish to use Harden, and as they got outside he had Kirlia use Lucky Chant and sent out his aquatic singing pokemon. After that, he took a second to asses the situation and gave his commands. "Alright, game plan guys. Ariados, use Shadow Sneak to take out the guy going to the pokemon center. I don't care what you do after that, just take. Him. Down." A pokemon thief would recieve no mercy from the young trainer right now. "Houndoom, burn the glass of the helicopter with ember to weaken it, Skarmory, hit the copter's glass with swift after Houndoom melts it a bit for you, Kirlia, if it's still flying than take the pilot down with confusion. Lapras, any of the grunts not targeted hit with sing. Corphish, if we are attacked then defend Houndoom and use Protect. Tailow, if any ugly bandra guys or their pokemon show their mugs, I want you to use quick attack. Oodromere, same thing, but use Bubblebeam."

And with that last command, Mark inhaled a bit and nodded, "Our main mission is to find Mina. If you do, then stay with her and protect her, we'll join up with you as fast as we can. Go."

Mark:

The Grunts don't seem to be paying any attention to you, being intent on escaping instead. ((Roll = 69)) The Grunt at the Center door gives off trying to steal the fallen trainer's pack and dashes after his companion; Mina's Houndoom growls at him, and you notice the black hair and vest on the fallen trainer. ((Hair color reminder for Mina, seeing as that is something that would be obvious to Mark and not so obvious to you.))

((Quick Claw = 15))

Taillow uses Quick Attack!

Ariados uses Shadow Sneak!

((Obedience Roll = 72))
Oodramer uses Bubblebeam!

The little bird and the slime monster launch their attacks at the nearest Grunt ((coming out of the Mart)) knocking him flat on his face. The bag spills, revealing multiple types of Pokeball inside. Ariados meanwhile goes for the Grunt bolting from the Center, sending him stumbling and then screaming as the spider-like Pokemon starts to chew on his neck.

((Obedience Roll = 86))
Houndoom looks at you, looks at the smoke around the (barely visible) helicopter, whines deep in his throat and starts sniffing the air instead.

Houndoom uses Odor Sleuth!

Skarmory squawks in annoyance and Swifts the helicopter anyway, though the attack doesn't seem to do much. Kirlia's attack seems to have much more effect; you can't see the effect on the pilot directly thanks to the smoke, but the helicopter dips dangerously and only stablizes with effort.

About this time Lapras tilts his head back and begins to sing. ((Roll = 84, 24, 57)) The Grunt closest to the Center keels over asleep; the other two are too distracted by the Pokemon attacking them to be affected.

A number of Pokemon from the Contest Hall throw attacks at the helicopter as well ((Roll = 63)) ((Roll = 33)) ((Roll = 27)); a Weather Ball from an unfamiliar serpentine Pokemon goes sailing harmlessly past it, but a Razor Leaf from a ram-like Pokemon connects as does what is unmistakably a Hyper Beam from some kind of fluffy dog. The helicopter falters...but stabilizes again. Someone leans out the side to throw down a ball of some kind, and more concealing smoke bursts forth.

The still-conscious Grunts call out their Pokemon to defend themselves. Additionally, a trio of Wispaferyn float down out of the smoke, headed towards the Grunt being attacked by Ariados and spewing fire.

((Note: The helicopter, Ariados attacking the Grunt, and the Grunt at the Mart are being counted as separate battles, and you can't affect more than one battle per Pokemon (IOW: can't have Skarmory target the helicopter AND one of the Grunts with Swift, they're too far apart.)))

"Alright guys, we're going to protect that trainer!" Mark called out, moving towards her to take up defensive position, assuming it was Mina that was next to the center. "Ariados, strike the biggest Whispaferyn (2)with shadow strike and come back here. Oodromere use Bubblebeam on it as well. Corphish use Bubble on that Whispaferyn and the Sandshrew. Skarmory use swift on the other two Whispaferyn. Tailow hit that whispaferyn (1) with wing attack! Lapras, hit the pilot with Confuse ray. Kirlia, try to take down the helicopter again. Houndoom, sorry buddy but I need you to do what I say so that we can protect Mina. Use Ember on the Helicopter's rotators, that bit sticking out from the top that's attached to the blades." If that was heated up enough, the blade should literally spin itself off.

Upon coming closer you find it is, in fact, Mina. She's not moving, although a closer examination proves she is at least breathing. The Grunt who tried to steal her pack is snoozing a few feet away, two Pokeballs and a Great Ball have rolled out of his grasp.

((Quick Claw Roll = 99))

Ariados uses Shadow Sneak!
Wispaferyn 2 is hit for 18 damage!

Skarmory uses Swift!
Wispaferyn 1 is hit for 11 damage!
Wispaferyn 3 is hit for 10 damage!

((Obedience = 56))
Houndoom uses Ember! ((Roll = 48))

Houndoom's fire attack hits the rotors. The helicopter remains in the air, but you can hear a very unpleasant whine under the thud-thud-thud of the blades. Maybe one more hit like that...

Taillow uses Wing Attack!
It's super effective!
Wispafeyn 1 is hit for 54 damage!

Ariados is hit for 15 damage

Kirlia uses Confusion! ((Roll = 63))

Lapras uses Confuse Ray! ((Roll = 72))

This time Kirlia's attack seems to have no effect this time, and Lapras' Confuse Ray carves harmlessly through smoke.

Wispaferyn 3 uses Ember! ((Roll = 5))
It's super effective!
Ariados is hit for 20 damage!
Ariados was Burned!

((Obedience = 21))
Oodramer uses Bubblebeam! ((Roll = 9))
Wispaferyn 2 is hit for 41 damage!
Wispaferyn 2's Speed falls!

Corphish uses Bubble! ((Roll = 23, 59, 72, 64))
It's super effective!
Wispaferyn 2 is hit for 16 damage!
Wispaferyn 2 faints!
Attack missed due to target KO!
It's super effective!
Wispaferyn 3 is hit for 24 damage!
It's super effective!
Sandshrew is hit for 30 damage!

Sandshrew uses Rollout! ((Roll = 65))
It's super effective!
Ariados is hit for 16 damage!

Ariados loses 10 HP due to Burn!
Ariados faints!

The Grunt outside the Mart gets back to his feet, grabs up the sack he dropped and dashes for the helicopter again. ((Roll = 88)) ((Roll = 4)) From the Contest Hall, more attacks issue forth and a few razor-sharp leaves even seem to hit, but most of the Pokemon miss.

Mark looked up at the Helicopter and finalized his plan. "Alright Houndoom, great job. Hit it with Ember there again and we it should come down. Corphish, protect Mina's pokeballs... and feel free to rough up that sleeping grunt a bit." Once again, no mercy for thieves. "Lapras, take down that grunt that came from the Mart with Ice Shard. Tailow, finish off the last Whispaferyn with Wing attack. Oodromere, finish off that Sandshrew with Bubblebeam. Skarmory, if Houndoom doesn't take it down then hit the same place on the helicopter with Swift. Kirlia, if any of the other grunts start to get up hit them with psychic. Ariados-" It was then that he noticed that the angry bug type was laying on the ground, twitching ever so slightly with burns on his body. Directing all these pokemon at once was proving to be more than a little difficult. "Good job buddy, return." With that he stood beside Mina, watching for any possible threat.

Corphish plants herself over the Pokeballs, clacking her claws in a way that could be interpreted as either eager or menacing. The sleeping Grunt begins to stir, and she thwaps him soundly with a claw at which he resumes total unconsciousness.

The last Wispaferyn and the Sandshrew go down before they can get off any more attacks, and the Grunt directing them bolts for the helicopter—he doesn't even take the time to recall his own Pokemon. But he slows as Houndoom's attack hits the rotors again and they begin to scream mechanically. Something in them breaks at last and they stop spinning. The helicopter begins to fall...

Lapras is thwarted as the Sentret called out by the Mart robber intercepts his attack, getting itself knocked out in the process. The Grunt keeps running, and doesn't notice as his Sandshrew looks up and slows beside him—then starts calling to him frantically. He is under the helicopter when it begins to fall, and looks up just in time to see the whole thing come crashing down on him.

The remaining still-conscious Grunt, seeing this, raises his hands and turns slowly around as the people in the Contest Hall begin to filter out.

"I surrender."

Mark raised his eyebrow and told him, "Drop all of your items and pokeballs then, and... er... I don't know... someone tie him up?" Now that Mina was safe and the attack was over, the teen started to revert back into... well a socially awkward teen. "And can someone help me here? My friend has been injured. Houndoom, Oodromere good job guys. I'll return you to Mina now." He recalled the two pokemon and put their pokeballs, along with Mina's other pokeballs, into her bag.

The Grunt empties his pockets and drops his sack—the former consists of a wad of PD and some gum, the latter hits the ground and spills out pill bottles and...is that a syringe? It is!

A grim-faced girl in a headband and dark green fighter's outfit from the Contest Hall takes him in hand after that and he's lead away to be dealt with—the sleeping Grunt is likewise carried away, and a few more people carry Mina inside the Pokemon Center, along with others hurt in the fighting. By the helicopter wreck the serpentine Pokemon is spraying water, and a few very kind-hearted souls are picking through the crash site looking for survivors.

Stacey:

((And we now know the town is still going to be there when you arrive, so here you are: ))

You arrive in Ceris about 9 PM. Looking through town you notice signs of intense battling—around the Pokemon Center and Mart to a lesser extent, but especially around the Contest Hall and in the town square. Bits of metal and broken glass radiate out from a blackened patch in the town square that's obvious even as late as it is, and drag marks lead from there to the twisted wreck of a helicopter left by the Pokemon Center. The familiar Bandra 'B' is visible—extremely crumpled—on part of the wreck. The town is mostly quiet, it being fairly late.

((Reminder:
Fuchsia – Contest Hall
Aqua circles – wells
Gold squares – entrance to the Park (think Amity Square)
Dark yellow – bar. This will be the Battleground equivalent.
White – Pokemon Center as usual
Gray – Mart as usual
Blue – houses as usual

Also note: this is the day AFTER the Bandra attack.))

Mark, after the battle seemed like it was winding down, had Lapras and Corphish help put out the fires and had Skarmory use his large and powerful wings to clear out some of the smoke. The trainer took Mina's bag in to the pokemon center with him, setting it down next to one of the chairs as he flopped in heavily, exhaustion hitting him. A long walk, battle stress and running around had taken a bit of a tole on the young man, but he had to do one more thing first. Taking Mina's pokeballs out of her bag, Mark walked over to the healing machine and started healing them and Ariados. It was after the "Dingaling" that signaled that the healing process was done and he had put everything back in Mina's bag (with Ariados by mistake) that Mark lay on his side and just slept.

Stacey slowed down as she seen the aftermath of what had happened while she was away. She figured it was another Bandra attack. She was about to head away from town to change into her Bandra outfit, but then noticed the downed helicopter with a 'B' on it. That would mean there was some success in fighting them. Though, maybe that was their only loss. Stacey decided she would head in as she was, but be careful in doing so. There would likely be Bandra patrols around, should they have won. She cautiously made her way over to the pokemon center, sticking to any shadowy area she could cling to. Upon reaching the door, she poked her head in, looking around for, and hoping not to see, anyone wearing a 'B' on their shirt.

Mark:

((I'm assuming you mean Pokemon Center not Mart...))

The wreck of the helicopter is searched for survivors—and several are found, who promptly surrender, and are taken away by the girl in green and an uncommonly serious-looking Lijan for questioning. The bodies of those who did not survive are laid out in the town square by the wreck, and picked up a few hours later for burial. By the time the wreck is cleared of Grunts both dead and alive, it is dark, and those directing the clean-up crew decide to put off moving the wreck until morning.

During this time you see the town Elder directing cleanup of the Contest Hall itself, tut-ing over the damage to the building. The Elder is an older woman who looks like she had been a great beauty in her day; like her counterpart in Ternai Town she wears a gold medallion polished to a high sheen and the blue robes of an Elder, but her robes are fancifully embroidered and much showier than those of Ternai's Elder. It also transpires that she is the owner of the Hyper-Beaming fluffy dog Pokemon.

During cleanup, you also find some useful items:

2100 PD
1 Potion
1 Full Heal
2 strange Pokeballs:
--one white with red and silver gems set in the top and a red gem for a button
--one with a white-gem-studded blue top and a blue gem for a button
1 Great Ball
1 Grepa Berry
2 Poffin (both Cute +36, Feel +18)
1 tube of Blue Contest Dye
1 Fresh Water
1 Gooey Mulch
1 Calcium
A slightly-battered Poffin case

The nurse is sufficiently busy not to object to you using the machine, and you fall asleep without incident.

You sleep undisturbed until about 6 AM, when you find that someone has moved you into one of the Center's overnight rooms.

Mina:

Mina woke, noticed it was dark, and was reflexively checking the clock ((10 PM)) when she remembered what had happened to her.

"My Pokemon!"

She check around herself in brief panic. Her Pokemon were missing off her belt, her pack was gone and—just to add insult to injury—someone had robbed her. Her money and Pokedex were gone, too. ((-2,799 PD))

She spent another brief moment panicking before reminding herself sternly that she was still alive. And Mark had Oodramer and—more importantly!—Houndoom, her tracker. She could still find the others. Maybe someone had even see where Bandra went with them...unless something had happened to Mark too...

Mina was halfway out of bed—without her Pokedex her Pokemon in Box Storage were in danger, and she wanted to find out what had happened to Mark—when she was distracted by voices in the hall outside.

"...patient needs rest, can't it wait until morning?" That was Nurse Joy.

"Nurse, the longer we wait the colder the trail will be. If we can find the fence we can bust open the whole operation and stop the sale of stolen Pokemon through Ceris. We know at least some of them are going to Bandra; isn't saving the Pokemon a little more important than some lost sleep for one trainer?" Mina had no idea who that was.

Nurse Joy was responding, quite adamantly too: "She's suffering from multiple injuries and she just recently recovered from an infection. The attack today didn't help, and you won't be helping either, waking her up when she should be resting."

They aren't talking about me, are they? Mina wondered if she should pretend to be asleep; if they were going to talk to her anyway it might save her a five minute lecture on being out of bed.

"I'm sure this is a misunderstanding. I have several of my people who can vouch that he wasn't anywhere near Ceris in the last week, and Mina told me herself he had them." That was Lijan. "I'm sure she would have said something if he'd stolen them."

Wait, they're talking about Mark!

"He could have been a new recruit; it wouldn't be the first time someone's taken advantage of a friend to make quick money—"

Indignant, Mina got the rest of the way out of bed, walked over to the door and pushed it open.

"She certainly seemed worried when she came in looking for him..." Nurse Joy was starting to sound doubtful before Mina interrupted.

"What's this about Mark?" the Johto trainer demanded.

There in the hallway was Lijan, Nurse Joy, and a third individual dressed in a Ranger uniform—Mina was reminded of Mindy, although the scarf was new.

"Ah. Mina Bram, I presume?" At Mina's cautious nod, the Ranger continued. "Mr. Allen—Mark—" he clarified at her blank look, as she didn't recognize Mark's last name "was found in the Center lobby with several Pokemon and a backpack we believe belongs to you."

Mina's attention sharpened to a laser-like point, and all of it was now on the unnamed Ranger. "Where are they?"

"If you can give me a description of the contents, to prove they're yours, I'll be happy to—

Mina, whose mind had been awhirl with the Pokemon she needed to rescue and all the things she would need to replace, cut him off before he could finish. "Pidgey, Natu, Magikarp. Houndoom and Oodramer were with Mark to begin with. And a Pikachu—she was with me. In the pack there's a Venom Ball, and a Mining Kit, and a bit of Pichu eggshell," she rattled off. "Some Berries, some duct tape, a copy of an old Bandra Report that Lijan should know about." She nodded to Lijan. "Some healing items. A couple of bloody shirts—"

"That will do." The Ranger swung something around and Mina finally noticed he was holding her pack; glancing inside she saw, with relief, that her Pokemon were safe inside. (She was sufficiently distracted enough not to notice that there was an extra Pokemon present.)

"Now if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to know how these came to be in Mr. Allen's possession. You said he had your Houndoom? And your...Odor-thing?"

"Oodramer," Mina corrected automatically. "He was taking them to the Pokemon Center so I could grab us seats for the Contest, and then Bandra attacked. I came back to the Center to try and catch up with him, but he wasn't here."

"So you have no idea how Mr. Allen came to be asleep in the Center Lobby with your things."

"I was unconscious so...no." Realizing she was being a little sharp, she tried to soften the statement with, "Sorry." She paused awkwardly and then added, "If it helps, he's had lots of chances to steal them if he wanted to before this, and never did." The entire retreat from Keida, for starters. "And if he wanted to take them, he could have taken off before the attack and no one would have had a chance to stop him." Which was actually a very scary thought, now that Mina had a chance to think about it...

"Yes, never mind. Sorry for bothering you Miss Bram." The Ranger looked more disappointed than annoyed. Mina was halfway to asking him what that was all about...

...but it was late, and she was battered, and if she were honest with herself she really didn't want to get involved with anything until morning.

So instead Mina bid him and Lijan goodbye, feeling even more awkward than before, and let herself be shooed back into the ward room by Nurse Joy.

Mina waited a solid fifteen minutes after the lights went out to be sure the Nurse wasn't going to check in on her again before pulling up her pack and opening it up. Using her Pokedex as an impromptu flashlight, she went over the contents.

She hadn't had a complete inventory done beforehand, but it didn't look like anything was missing—the Mining Kit was still there, as were the Liechi and Salac Berries, the SM she'd gotten from Pellana, the HM for Rock Smash...nothing of note, certainly. Her wallet was in there, as was her Pokedex—someone must have dug those out, as they'd been in her pockets last time she was conscious. The money in the wallet was gone, which was disappointing. Guess it's a good thing I paid for dinner the other day. At least some of it went to some use!

But on the whole, nothing irreplaceable was lost, which was—a miracle, really.

Mina finally lay down to sleep, losing herself in her thoughts.

Stacey:

A glance in the door fails to reveal any Bandra uniforms, only Nurse Joy and a couple of trainers—Coordinators?—chatting with one another.

It was a slightly slow wake up for Mark from a random sub-par-bordering-on-nightmare dream, and the dawning of realization that he was in a new place came even slower. Once the situation struck him, he bolted upright, grabbing the pillow to hold it threateningly before he realized that no one was there, and that he was still in the pokemon center, and that a Haunter WASN'T trying to drive him crazy and eat his face. I don't know what a pillow would do to help against that, but apparently Mark believed it would do something. ((*Shrugs*))

Feeling a bit foolish and blushing ever so slightly, Mark put the pillow down and hopped out of bed, feeling a tingling pain come from his shoulder as he stepped out. Ah, time to take of the arm for an hour or so, nerves were getting overloaded. One click and the piston came off, and he was holding the arm in his hand. His now-armless shoulder felt entirely too light now, he still wasn't used to this apparently. On inspection, it was getting dirty and running low on batteries anyway. So he might as well clean it and leave it out to charge while... oh right, he needed two hands to actually draw. Hmmm... maybe if Mina was feeling better they could talk? Or train pokemon? Ah well, it was probably really early and he would feel a bit bad if he woke her up after everything she had been to. He reached into his bag and pulled out a polishing kit, digging through to find a cloth and some polishing oil when he noticed that he only had his bag. But wait, why was that a bad thing again? Mark tried to remember and went back to his polishing job. He was about halfway done when he remembered that he was supposed to have Mina's bag as well.

He had enough of a sense of self to put his cleaning supplies and arm down next to his bag before freaking out. He ran around frantically, looking under his bed, around the open spaces of the room, in the dresser, under the pillow, everywhere. That bag had everything Mina owned in it, what if someone had stolen it while he was asleep! He had been looking out for it just so that exact situation wouldn't happen! How would he be able to explain it to her? "Oh hey Mina, I sort of rescued your stuff and your pokemon from Bandra and was looking out for it when I passed out on the couch and it sort of got stolen while I was asleep. Sorry about that." Imbecile! He should have at least has the presence of mind to have Ariados protect it or something!

Having run out of places to search in the room, Mark had one last desperate thought, What if it's still in the lounge? It doesn't really look like mine, so maybe whoever moved me left it there? Or it could be in the lost and found! He turned and took one hasty step before he ran face first into the door with a loud "Thunk." And then he just lay on his back for a bit, fingers twitching ever so slightly. "... Ow..."

Mark:

The door opens after a few seconds. A Chansey in a nurse's cap waddles into the room and over to you, concern clear on her little pink face.

"Chansey chan?"
