"Oh, a door got the drop on me. Watch out for those things, they're killers just waiting to pounce."
Mina tried not to smile and winced sympathetically instead.
"So your chest and, er, whatever happened to knock you out aren't bothering you too badly?"
"No. Admittedly I was out for a few hours, but apparently I have a nice thick skull." She smiled self-deprecatingly. "There's a bit of a bruise, but I haven't noticed anything seriously wrong."

When she winced at his joke instead of laughing, Mark wondered if he had made it clear enough if he had been kidding. On the other hand, when Mina made her joke he chuckled slightly nervously. In Mark's experience, with girls you could never be sure if they were looking for someone to actually laugh or if you would get an earful for doing so. Best to play it safe. "Well, then if they let you take a shower and clean yourself up and look a little less... er..." How to put this delicately, "like you were dying," yes, very good my idiot son, perfectly delicate, "Then I'm sure you will be let out of here in a day at most. Oh, and uh... sorry about what happened to Houndoom. We sort of had to fight a Task master and, well... He did a great job. He's probably the only reason why I was able to win... why I'm still alive..."
"Oh. And he took down a helicopter."

All the same Mina didn't think she was going to be letting them off her person so lightly again. It was no reflection on Mark, however; Mina hadn't forgotten that this was the second time Bandra had attacked when she didn't have all of her Pokemon with her. It was probably best that she stop tempting fate...

"Really?" Mina felt a burst of pride for her Dark dog. "Sounds like I missed a lot! What happened? I gather Bandra lost, since we're still in Ceris."

"Hey, better hospital time than no time, right?" Mark asked, wincing at that bad joke as it brought back certain... memories. Best to change the topic as quickly as possible.

He didn't comment, since that rhetorical question was a trap most vile. No matter what he said, it would end poorly. So Mark just shrugged noncommittally and prayed that she would give him something to better to branch off of.
"Sounds like I missed a lot! What happened? I gather Bandra lost, since we're still in Ceris."
"Well, as you can probably tell from my voice there was rather a lot of shouting and..." The smell of smoke was still clinging to him, apparently. A shower and new change of clothes would do him good, "But, well..." the young man decided to sit down on the lip of Mina's bed as he talked, feeling a bit too sore for standing, "here's what I saw." Mark recounted his tale from the beginning, from fending off the grunts to finding and fighting the Taskmaster to running out to battle in the chaos, taking down the helicopter and finding a grunt digging through her pack. "Oh, do you still have everything? I think that we stopped him before he actually got anything valuable, but I'm not sure..."

"I didn't lose anything that can't be replaced," Mina replied, which was true enough. "Speaking of which," she pulled open her pack, "I want you to have these. Some of them I know are useful; I don't know about the rest but I doubt they'll hurt. Anyway, if someone robs me again, at least one of us will have some if we need them later."
Mina pulled out one each of all the Berry types for which she had spares—and three each of the Chesto and Oran Berries, since she knew what those were good for. ((3 Oran Berries, 3 Chesto Berries, 1 Charti Berry, 1 Figy Berry, 1 Pomeg Berry, 1 Qualot Berry, 1 Hondew Berry, 1 Salac Berry.))
"The Oran Berries help Pokemon heal, and the Chesto Berries help them wake up," Mina explained. "The Salac Berry gives them a short Speed boost; be careful with that one, it's rare." Mina wouldn't have even gotten a hold of it—much less found out what it did!—if not for the Battle Festival. "You'll be getting a Liechi Berry as soon as I can grow some extra."

Mark took the berries with a cheerful smile and put them in his pockets. "Uh... thanks. I'll see if I can get more of those later so that we don't run out... Oh! And you wanted to have that citrus berry, right? Well I'll go right back to my room and grab that. And... well... I don't want to feel like I'm taking advantage of you or anything, so... Here, I'll pay for the berries." With that, Mark pulled out his wallet and gave Mina 1300 the PD he had found after the battle yesterday. He could almost hear his pocket book scream, but what with all of the items he had retrieved yesterday Mark didn't exactly need the money. Besides, from what she had said Mina had lost something, hopefully this would help her get it back.

"Oh, it's fine." Mark told her, waving lightly and giving the other trainer a winning smile. "After all, I can't just keep expecting you to help me without giving you something in return, right? Besides, the money is the least of what I was able to find. If you need some potions and pokeballs, I can give you those as well when I get my bag in here." After clearing his throat, Mark decided he would also probably get some water or something as well. Maybe some kind of cough drop to get rid of that gravely sound...

Mina smiled back. "I'm fine on Pokeballs and Potions for a while" especially if I'm going to be stuck here to recover for the next few days "but thank you." Mina reached over to give Mark a very awkward hug.

The sheer awkwardness of the hug was made worse by the fact that Mark only had one arm, though that didn't stop him from at least trying to hug with the other. A whirring servo motor spinning pointlessly revealed the effectiveness of that, and Mark mentally slapped himself. It would be hell to find the right position for his arm now, probably take an hour or two. He could probably train his pokemon while he did that, of course, but still, it was inconvenient.
When the amount of awkward became to damn high, Mark backed away and pointed behind him. "I'll just... ah... go get my bag and pokemon, and we can distribute these berries, and I can get you that Sitrus berry..." He mumbled, clearing this throat again. "Definitely going to grab a cough drop too."

Holly snow it was awkward being around Mina these days. Maybe she just felt awkward at all times around him and And he, being the human mirror he is, reflected that awkward to create this giant miasma of uncomfortable that the sharpest knife couldn't cut? No idea. But it dropped away shortly after he left the room and the one armed trainer started back to his room for his stuff. Oh, and a lozenge or cough drop or something.
((Barring a conversation randomly breaking out...))
He then returned to Mina's room, berries in their pack and the Sitrus in his hand. His other arm was in the bag, peaking out with the hand flopping loosely. "So do you mind where I put this down, or...?"

Mark decided to set it down next to the bed and handed her the berry. "Here you go~!" He mumbled, starting to fish out his pokemon. "So which berry should go to whom, in your opinion?" He asked his companion, still not really knowing what he was doing with these berries still. He would be sending them out as she suggested, so he still didn't realize that he was sans-giant spider.

Mina took the Sitrus Berry and placed it carefully in her pack, making sure to put it where she could find it easily.
"So which berry should go to whom, in your opinion?"
"Hmm. None of your Pokemon know Rest, do they? If they do I'd say give those ones a Chesto Berry." Mina considered a few other possibilities in her head. "Otherwise, keep them for when you're up against something with Sing, or Hypnosis or something similar; they'll save you having to stock up on Awakenings, and if you have time to give them to your Pokemon beforehand it'll buy you at least one attack." Hannah came to mind, but Mina didn't want to remind Mark about her just yet; they had to get stronger first, before they were ready to try to oust her again.
"Beyond that I'd say give Lapras and Corphish an Oran Berry each, since any Bandra goon with a brain is going to target them first, and we're going to need them conscious as long as possible. And they're both pretty durable, so they'll be more likely to use it." Unlike her poor birds and poor dog, who were so fragile that half the time they were unconscious before they could use the things...
"The Salac Berry is useful if you need a Speed boost so...probably not much use for Lapras or Ariados, since they both have attacks that can do that. I got it with Houndoom from the Battle Festival, so..." assuming his breeder knew what they were doing "...something that hits hard, and maybe something reasonably fast to begin with, to make use of the boost.
I have no idea what the rest of them do, so I'm afraid I can't be much more help than that."

"Maybe Ariados could use the last Oran berry? And if you don't have any more of the salac berries, we could try to grow it." If Mina had more berries, then Mark would use this one on Kirlia. He sent out Corphish to give it an oran berry, and Lapras as well. The crab held it in the hollow of his claw, while Lapras held his on the top of his head. He then began looking for Ariados's pokeball. And failed to find it. "Er... speaking about Ariados, do you know where he is?" He asked, hopeful that her lack of being conscious wouldn't be a problem.

"I've got a couple spare Salac, don't worry." That was why Mina hadn't given him a Liechi Berry yet; currently she only had the one. But as she had nothing but time at the moment, hopefully she could sneak in some Berry growing. There was still the problem of figuring out how to do that, but she'd worry about that after Mark went off to do whatever he planned to do that day.
"Er... speaking about Ariados, do you know where he is?"
"You mean you don't have him?" Mina asked, suddenly concerned. He wasn't robbed too, was he? The Ranger's words from the night before came back to haunt her. ...calm down, try the possibilities you can do something about first. "...was he hurt? He couldn't be with Nurse Joy, could he?"

"No, no, I was able to heal him myself. He wasn't injured, just knocked out a few times." Mark said, distracted by his frantic search through his pack. His robotic limb and many of his other items clattered to the ground as he poured out the main pouch of his pack. Not finding Ariados's ball in there, he opened up his key items pouch and pulled out his journal carefully, setting it reverently to the side, before repeating the process. Still, nowhere. Maybe he put it in the pokeballs pouch? Emptying that pouch he checked each except for the incredibly fancy ones, which he set next to his journal. Still nothing. "Maybe he's in your pack? I did heal him with your pokemon, so..."
