The Oddish plants its stubby feet, being driven across the battle ring by the force of the attack, and when the stream of bubbles has ended it's still standing—until it falls forward, flat on its face. ((Minimum damage was 15.))
Your opponent recalls it and comes over to shake your hand.
"I thought you were crazy to call out that Water type, but you won. Good job!" He leaves, presumably for the Pokemon Center, only to be replaced by the bartender.
"Great fight young man!" He hands you some money and a bottle of Fresh Water. "I've not seen you battle here before, so I'll explain what this is for: my policy is since people eat here to see the battles, the winner of those battles gets a cut of the sales I make during the match. I also try to make sure everyone is fed and hydrated." He smiles at you before bustling back to the bar.
((+900 PD and +1 Fresh Water. For future reference, your haul from fights here will be better during peak times, which is to say when you'd expect people to be having breakfast, lunch or dinner.))

Closing his book hurriedly, Mark would clear his throat and stand up. "Y-Yep! All done with that... and hey, congratulations on winning your battle, man!" Mark would say, spirits obviously high even if he appeared a bit... distracted. "Sooooo want to go to the pokemon center quick? Mina is right there and we should be able to meet her quick enough."

All:
Mark and Jack make their way back to the Pokemon Center. With the hottest part of the day over the square is reasonably busy with people headed to or from their dinner or out and about doing errands they'd put off due to the heat. The Scarf man is out with a gaggle of hopeful Coodinators again and near the entrance to the park a girl is feeding various bird Pokemon; mostly Murkrow, but with the odd brave Taillow and a sharp-eyed Chatot looking out of place near the back. Near one of the wells, the Breeder is arguing with an older Coordinator and pointing at his Pichu for emphasis; he's loud enough both of you can tell the argument is about recipes.
Unsurprisingly you make it to the Center without incident. Mina waves cheerily to Mark, and gives Jack a brief look of tempered wariness.
"Hello!" This is obviously addressed to Mark. Then Mina tilts her head such that the next question could easily be intended for either of them. "Who's your friend?"

"Ah! Sorry!" Mina stepped backed and gestured for Jack to go ahead with that; the Nurse had returned and was back behind the counter, smiling in typical Nurse Joy fashion at the newcomer.

Mark would wave to Mina, letting Jack introduce himself and sort of twiddling his thumbs before awkwardly adding, "Y-yep! Jack, this is Mina, Mina, t-this is Jack. Hopefully you guys can help each other out." While his comment was sort of unnecessary, Mark was grinning by the time he finished... genuinely too! Which was something that he hadn't exactly been doing in the last few days.

Mark would tilt his head a bit and ask, "Um... didn't you say that 'The Elder' sent you here to find some people? I could have sworn that y-you at least mentioned the Starlight squad..." Aaaaand Mark was giving just the absolutely most embarrassed blush at the moment. Woops, looks like the trainer made too many assumptions today!
