((Yes!! Welcome back to DM-ing winter! ))

Mina gave Dove’s hand a sisterly squeeze of reassurance. “Don’t worry, he’ll be all right. It’ll just take time.”

After feeding the Pokemon (after Mina’s exhaustive instructions on the topic earlier in the day, the man at the tent had been only too happy to hand back the responsibility of feeding Pichu) and having a filling meal herself, Mina had obtained a pen and paper from the inn’s front desk; currently she was seated in a chair in the front lobby, and was tapping the pen thoughtfully on her knee.

“So did you guys have any luck?” Mina asked after a pause. “I heard about the run-in with the Breeder, so I know some of you didn’t have all that much time to investigate.”

Mina reflected on what she herself had learned that day about Team Bandra and the Spectral Dimension. Some of it Misty knew, but some of it she was fairly certain was unknown to the others—in particular she had yet to tell anyone about Oodramer. Mentally Mina listed off the information she had gathered, and scribbled it down on her appropriated paper.

Misty decides to go retrieve her pokemon tonight, leaving the rentals with the judges.  She wants to spend some time with her pokemon, and hasn't seen them for awhile.  After telling the others where she will be she decides to go roaming a bit outside of the city.  First she releases all the pokemon from their containers, just as it turns nighttime.  She wonders around for a bit, playing with her pokemon, enjoying the night air.

“Luck? Yeah. The breeder did stop me from having very much luck. Oh well, though, I suppose. Anyway, I didn’t find out too much. Went to where I was supposed to go. As I was heading back, I saw a shadowy figure. Tried to go after him, and then found a badge. I checked it out, and found out it was that breeder’s. Eventually had to fight him. He used some little device during the match, or tried to, but was quickly stopped. I can’t remember anything else, for now, but I’ll write down a few things that come to me. I feel like taking a walk for a bit. I’ve got some energy to burn, I think. I’ll be back later on tonight.”

I find some paper and a writing device, and then head out of the inn.

Misty:

As you send out your Pokémon, you notice that Eevee starts glowing slightly. You quickly switch its Soothe Bell for a Moon Stone (you'll see why ) as...

Eevee is evolving!

After a few seconds, that feel like hours, the evolution is complete. As the former Eevee, now Umbreon, comes out of its evolution, you notice something odd. It doesn't have its Moon Stone anymore. A quick scan from the Pokédex reveals what has happened:

Umbreon learned Moonlight!
The Moon Stone caused Umbreon's ability to change!
Umbreon gained Moon Child!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Moon Child - (Synchronize + Y)

Y = This Pokémon instantly learns Moonlight on evolution and can use it with the following additional/edited effects:

- Completely restores Umbreon's HP
- Restores Umbreon's Condition
- Moonlight is unaffected by weather conditions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Christian ((B-E-T-A's character )):
((This'll be a long post! ))
((Also, the double parentheses mean something said OOC, since I'm sure you're wondering. ))

You have heard about the troubles that have been plaguing the region of Helnith from rumors, hearsay and, most importantly, a letter from the son of one of the region's Elders.

The letter says:

The region of Helnith, located far to the east of Hoenn, is in danger.
The guardian Pokémon of the region, Salerdia, left for unknown lands five years ago and has since not returned. This has caused the land to slowly die out. The residents of the region did not realize that Salerdia and the land were linked intimately. Without one, the other perishes. So, the council of elders held a meeting, their first in over 50 years, to try and solve this problem.

That's why you have been sent from the island of Aitel (somewhat to the northeast of the Helnith mainland) to help out. Pokémon trainers are rather scarce in this region, as are Pokémon themselves, so you and your fellow Trainers may be this region's last hope.

Beware however! There have been rumors of a hostile takeover of parts of the region by a Team of bandits profitting from this situation. Team Bandra, as they would have themselves called, have enlisted the aid of many delinquent Trainers to bolster their already significant Grunt taskforce.

This, my dear friends, is the reason why you have all been called from Aitel...one of the last bastions of the region.

Take care,

Fate
Elder Aquai's son
((Fate's my in-game character, in case you're wondering. ))

You notice that parts of the letter don't really apply to you as an individual, which gives you the idea that the letter was made a while ago, for a group of Trainers, rather than one person.

In any case, you replied to the letter, showing your interest to help save the region. For a few days there was no reply and you had assumed the worst. However, later that night...

"Oi! Wake up young'un!" bellowed out a stranger.

From his voice, you can tell that he's male. You rush outside, Poké Ball in hand, and meet the stranger. He is wearing a Captain's uniform ((the sailor type of captain, not the military type)). He starts speaking:

"I am a Captain from Aitel Island in Helnith. We received your letter a few days ago but were powerless to answer it directly. Much has happened since Fate wrote that letter. I am here to take you to Helnith. Ready?"

((setting up starting item conditions))

You nod and ready yourself. You grab your Pokédex, 1500 PD ((aka. PokeDollars, aka. Yen, aka. Cash! )) your Pokéballs ((5 in total)) and the Full Heal your dad had sent you just yesterday. He always did have a certain knack for predicting important events. Perhaps he knew that this would happen.

You lock the door to your house several minutes later as the captain nods and shows you to his boat.

Several hours pass as morning turns into day and, as the sun starts setting, you reach Siltis Village, located somewhat to the southwest of Aitel Island.

The captain lets you out of the ship, as you stretch out and send out your Pokémon to do the same.

The Tyrogue lets out a cheer as it is released from its Pokéball. It promptly starts practicing its fighting moves.

Tyrogue
Level: 15
Gender: Male
HP: 40+3
Attack: 20+3
Defense: 20+3
Sp.Atk: 20
Sp.Def: 20
Speed: 20+1
Ability: Guts

Move List:

Tackle
Helping Hand
Fake Out
Bullet Punch (egg move)

((Points allocated! )))

The captain then says:

"Cool critter you have there. Never seen one of those before."

You briefly explain to the captain that it is a Tyrogue. He then smiles and replies:

"I see. Does it evolve?"

You nod and then the captain replies:

"Well, we've wasted enough time in idle chit-chat for now. Let's get going."

The captain takes you to Elder Aquai's house, located near the center of the village.

As you enter the house, you see that it is well-furnished. A man of about 40-45 years old steps out of the back room. He has a blue robe and it is clear who he is, even before he says:

"Greetings young trainer! I am Elder Aquai of Siltis Village. And you are?"

((DONE!!! I'll try to get the village map updated in the OOC thread so you know where you are. You can now ask questions to Elder Aquai...remembering that you only control your own actions, I'll answer on behalf of the non-player characters. ))

((Nice! You catch on quick to differing styles of play. ))

((Village Map))

The Elder nods and speaks:

"Well, as you may have gathered from how the letter was written, there is already a group of Trainers here fighting to save the region. They have already dealt a crucial blow to Team Bandra by destroying their base in Slashpeak Cave, located several miles to the west of this village..."

He trails off and leaves the room for a moment. Afterwards, he returns with a strange machine. He turns it on and you notice your Pokédex beeping. The beeping stops and you look at your Pokédex to see, to your pleasant surprise, that it has been upgraded with a Map Utility and a Wireless Communication Protocol ((in other words, your Pokédex can now download information/upgrades automatically from other nearby Pokédexes with an open connection. )).

((Region Map Snippet 1))

He then continues:

"Now, like I was saying, I'm sure that Team Bandra has sent a group of Grunts to investigate what happened to the base, so I recommend you head south to the village that is located there. Heading west right now is suicide. If I know my son Fate well enough, I can almost guarantee that he is over there, along with your potential allies. So, it's in your best benefit."

The Elder concludes with the following warning:

"Be careful young one. Until you meet up with the group, you're vulnerable, especially considering that you only have one Pokémon."

He nods as he sends you off to your quest.

((You can now go shop in the Pokémart, that has Potions, Antidotes and Poke Balls, or you can leave through the south gate to start your quest.))

“If either of you have any of those Shards we found, make sure to take them over to the blue tent tomorrow if you get the chance!” Mina called to Misty and Stacey as the latter two left.

She scribbled on her pad of paper for a few more minutes, Pichu peering at the paper with interest from her perch on Mina’s head. Mina had just finished with a muttered, “…and I think that’s it,” when the little Electric type abruptly overbalanced and toppled head-over-tail from her resting spot.

“Eek! Pichu!” Mina made a grab for the little Electric type, just barely catching the latter. Pichu made a distressed-soundly “Piiii!” sound and buried her head in Mina’s shirt.

“There there…it’s all right…” Mina stroked the hatchling’s head reassuringly for a moment before holding out the list for the remainder of the group’s perusal.

“Does anyone else have anything to add?”

Neatly written on the bottom half of the paper (under a hoard of arrows, scribblings, and crossings-out from Mina organizing her thoughts) was the following:

Bandra Bases:
Slashpeak
Dewdrop Forest

Hillsbreak occupied; Power Plant in Hillsbreak powering nearby bases.

Elder Roden (Hillsbreak) in Spectral Dimension as of few months ago; replaced by Lionel (Bandra supporter). ((Draloed should remember this name. ))

Christian:

((You can afford three of each, exactly, so that's what I'll do. ))

You reach the Pokémart and use your money to buy 3 Antidotes and 3 Potions. As you make to leave, a man sitting in a corner attempts to sell you an Old Rod for 5,000,000,000PD. It doesn't take much experience to tell that this is a blatant rip-off. However, the shopkeeper blurts out, chastising the Rod seller:

"Not this again! Didn't Fate tell you a few days ago to give those away to Trainers in the region? They're helping us out, so we help them out as we can."

The shopkeeper smiles as the rod seller mutters something under his breath, and gives you an Old Rod for free. The shopkeeper then takes a 4th potion and Antidote and hands them to you, saying:

"Well, it seems like you're alone, so take one more of each. You'll need them."

You then leave the town through the south exit.

The journey through this route is rather uneventful until nearly the halfway point. Suddenly, you see a group of merchants yelling at something in the distance. Closer inspection reveals a Slakoth (( have to get your party size up to speed you know. Everyone else except my character and Dove, a NPC, has at least 3 Pokémon.)) slacking off near a cave entrance. One of the merchants walks up to you and asks:

"Could you please move that Slakoth somehow? I don't care how. Battle it, lure it with food, anything! Our stuff is inside of that cave."

That leads you to wonder how the Slakoth managed to move all the way to the cave entrance just to block it. It also makes you wonder why they're not taking more drastic measures to move the Pokémon.

What will you do now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mina:

Dove takes a look at your paper and whistles in admiration:

"Wow girl! You found out lots of stuff today!"

She smirks as she finishes reading the paper. The smirk dies down as she thinks of something. She says:

"Darn...if we go save Elder Roden, then we risk encountering that Lord Pokémon. If we don't go save Elder Roden, then that Lionel character is going to remain the Elder of Hillsbreak Town. Besides, poor Spencer has to be distraught over what has happened with his father. I don't think his brother cares though. His brother was always the black sheep of his household..." ((if only she knew...she happened to be conveniently in her bed when Spencer and the group went to the PKMN Center ))

She trails off in thought while the group analyzes what has been learned during this day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
((In case you guys are wondering, B-E-T-A is about two hours behind. So, it's about 8 PM in his scenario and 10 PM in your guy's scenario. He'll catch up soon enough. Just watch. ))

Christian then remembered that Tyrogue is the only pokemon he brought from Hoenn, no, the only one he ever had! “…Besides, poor Spencer has to be distraught over what has happened with his father. I don't think his brother cares though. His brother was always the black sheep of his household..."

“No kidding.”

Mina felt a touch of awkwardness. Apparently Dove didn’t remember her brief, off-hand comment from her texting earlier (and no wonder, poor girl had so much else on her mind). She debated whether or not she should bring it up (and if so, how) as she replied.

“Well, I’ve already determined I’m going after Elder Roden. Maybe it’s silly of me, but I feel a little responsible seeing as he contacted me. I can’t leave him there. You guys can come with me or not; if you’d rather depose Lionel instead, by all means go for it.”

Mina trudged down from her room after washing up, feeling a bit sleepy yet but deciding that a bit of breakfast would be just the thing she needed to wake up. Pichu trailed a few feet behind her, enthusiastically investigating everything in sight with that boundless energy characteristic of the young. (Also, she had already had her breakfast, along with the other Pokemon.)

As she ate, Mina scanned through the Breeder information Spencer had downloaded onto her Pokedex the day before; she had been too tired to do so last night. While she had only a cursory interest in Pokemon Breeding, she felt there was no harm in studying the subject anyway—who knew what information would be useful later on?

Mina was halfway through her third pastry when she stumbled across the entry on Pichu. Intrigued, she looked up the information on Motor Drive while she finished off the miniature cinnamon roll.

“Ooo…” she remarked at last. “Pichu, how would you like to be immune to electricity when you evolve?”

“Pii??” The little hatchling looked up from the salt shaker she was sniffing with interest.

“Hold on a sec. I’ll be right back.”

Mina took the stairs to her room two at a time, returning a short time later with the Thunder Stone.

“Here,” she told the hatchling. “I want you to hold on to this, okay?”

“Piiii…” The little hatchling sniffed at the golden-yellow stone and nipped experimentally at its edge. Her head cocked curiously as it didn’t seem to be food, then she went back to exploring the basket of condiments that had caught her interest earlier.

After breakfast, Mina returned to her room and packed up her things for the day.

“I hope we can find a Mart soon,” Mina said to Pichu. “We’ve got some dimension hopping to do in a few days, and I’m down to my last Pokeball.” Her eye fell on the chip for Rock Smash. “Do you think Sandshrew would want to learn this?”

“Pii? Pi pi pichu?” Her tone asked, ‘What is it?’

“It’s the HM for Rock Smash—for breaking rocks, obviously. I guess we’ll have to ask her tonight, huh?” Mina fingered the chip consideringly before replacing it. “I don’t even know how to use this thing. Do you think Dove would know?” Pichu made a curious sound in response. “Let’s go ask, shall we?”

It quickly became clear, however, that the Elder’s daughter wasn’t in the inn.

“Hmmph.” Mina remarked aloud. “Probably went over to the Pokemon Center to check up on Fate. Let’s go check, Pichu; Nurse Joy will know if she’s there.”
