Mina congratulated Draloed briefly on his win before leaving for her own match. When her opponent sent out the Zigzagoon, her hand reached automatically for Onix's Pokeball before she reconsidered. She chose a different ball.

The post-round proceedings are rather brief. It would seem that the organizers want to finish this tournament today. What reasons they could have for this are unknown...
Those in the group with matchups make their way to their assigned arenas. Everyone else is free to explore the tournament grounds.

Misty suddenly remembers her manners and wishes the Ranger luck belatedly. She is super focused on the match at hand. Using her pokedex, she knows the enemy probably has water type attacks. Which means two of her pokemon are weak against it. She has to hope that Growlithe can take at least one hit. "Fire Wheel again Growlithe!"

The Lombre still has quite a bit of fight left in it, thanks to the fact that it is a Water/Grass type. The Ranger tells it to:

The battle is heating up, as is the crowd's emotion. The Growlithe has fainted, but the Ranger's Lombre is a mere 4 HP away from fainting itself, not to mention that one of the Ranger's Pokémon has already been KO'ed.

Misty knows that this is going to be much closer then the crowd knows. If the third is a grass type, she is going to be in trouble. She knew that she had to keep her sudowoodo out of it as long as possible.
"Ghastly, go! Use Lick!" She crosses her fingers that it is fast enough and does enough damage to knock out her opponit.

The crowd goes wild as the Lick KO's the Ranger. He isn't so happy though. He sends out his last Pokémon, a Paras ((and you don't have your Growlithe to 4x it anymore! ))

The Ranger realizes that his Paras has three or four turns left, but cannot really do anything to counter the Curse.
"Well," starts the Ranger, "it's been fun."
The Ranger has his Paras Leech Life. You get the impression that that is the only move he can do right now.
((Auto-pilot, since you win by default. ))
The rounds go by, and the Gastly proves to be a heavier sleeper than you could have bargained for. However, its attacks were not neccesary, and the Paras faints 3 turns after its first Leech Life.
((Seriously, all he had for attacks was Scratch and Leech Life...against a half Ghost/half Poison Pokémon? LOL! ))
You have won the match!
The announcer hurries over next to you, awarding you 1000PD and asking you if you would like to swap. He then goes on to mention that now's the time to pick the Pokémon you will be keeping after the tournament.

After a few stretches, working out any stiffness that had time to set in, I head into the arena area, and get ready for the battle. I see the venonat. One of the smaller bugs, it looks like. And, perhaps, another type of pokemon that I'd like, but not likely now.
"Okay, Murkrow. Come on out, and use Wing Attack!"
