Mina whistle-cheered as Zigzagoon went down; Houndour wagged his tail happily and charged over for a pat.
"You did great Houndour. Return!" Mina pulled another ball off her belt as her opponent sent out Phanpy.
"Go, Poliwag! Use Water Gun!"

((*just looked up Natural Gift on Bulbapedia, having never seen the attack before* Doesn't Natural Gift use up the berry? ))

The Ground-type Pokémon manages to hold on, barely, consuming its Sitrus Berry to gain back 30 HP. However, this also causes its next move to be quite useless.
Phanpy uses Natural Gift!
But, the Pokémon had no berry...
Poliwag is hit for 1 damage!
A virtually harmless gust ((Power 1  )) lightly buffets the Poliwag. If you had not seen it yourself, you would've doubted the Phanpy had attacked at all.

Condition: Healthy

As the Phanpy rolls over the Poliwag, you have it use Water Gun one more time. The Phanpy has just enough time to turn around and see a blast of water coming straight at it. It is promptly KO'ed. The crowd cheers a bit as the Youngster sends out his last Pokémon.

Another Normal type.
Mina looked thoughtful. She felt she really ought to send out Onix, since the Rock/Ground type was resistant to Normal type moves, but after he forgot his held item last match, she was hesitant to do so.
Poliwag burbled unhappily from her various injuries; Mina recalled her and sent out Houndour again. The Dark pup barked eagerly, short tail wagging with excitement.
"Let's mix things up a little. Use Ember Houndour!"

((Quick heads-up to all. My computer is on the fritz. Using my dad's computer. Hence, since all of the Pokemon data is in my pen drive, and I don't want to risk infecting this computer, I'll just approximate damage values, for now. In any case, I think Stacey and Mina win their respective bouts, so it doesn't matter. Hope to get my own computer working again soon. ))

Misty decides to go get her pokemon for a bit, and take them for a walk while she waits. She is getting nervous, knowing she will be facing people she considers friends soon. Once she has her own pokemon she will let them all out (except for the fish of course) and walk around with them a little to calm her nerves. Looking at booths and the like.

Pleased, and a bit surprised to see the Ember's secondary effect set in, Mina whistled encouragment to Houndour. In spite of his recent injuries, the pup still seemed eager enough.

You walk around the tournament grounds. Almost everyone is watching on the battles that are taking place. However, near the corner of your eye, you spot a strange figure. He's cloaked and quickly moves away when you catch sight of him.
Mina:
Houndour uses Bite!
Sentret takes 19 points of damage!
Your opponent's Sentret manages to Slam into your Houndour one more time before fainting...
The resulting attack is not nearly enough to faint your pup (and even if it were, it wouldn't have mattered.), so you win this battle!
You have gained 1000 PD!
The announcer hurries over to you eagerly and asks if you would like to swap a Pokémon. Whether you do so or not, you can now pick which of your rentals you will keep after the end of the tournament.

Mina called back Houndour so her rentals could be healed and considered her opponent's team. None of them had really impressed her, so she decided not to swap out and told the man so. When asked which of her team she wanted to keep, she remarked,
"Already? Well, um..." She studied the rental Pokeballs intently, as though one of them would begin leaping up and make her choice easier.
She knew she didn't want Onix; the big snake was durable, but seemed to be a magnet for status effects and besides, Sandshrew might get jealous if she added another Ground type to her team.
That left Poliwag and Houndour; the former was a Water type, which she would desperately need if there were any more Geodude-training Bandra Grunts in the group's future. On the other hand, she just didn't click with Poliwag, and she didn't have a Fire type yet either...she frowned thoughtfully.
Wait...Oodramer. I have Oodramer. He knows Bubblebeam, right?
"Houndour." Mina said at last. "I want Houndour."

Misty normally would have ignored the man if not for his odd behavior. She quietly follows him, hopefully without him knowing, the best she can.

He then leaves you to go do his thing somewhere else.

You follow the man, managing to not draw any attention to yourself. He softens his pace, thinking that you have desisted from the chase.
After a few minutes, you find yourself outside of the village, hiding behind a tree, while the cloaked man stops in the middle of a field. He makes a strange whistling sound and a man comes out of the nearby forest to meet him. You quickly recognize him as Klandon ((Spencer's brother; the guy with the Despair Pokémon; aka. Team Bandra Taskmaster))
The two start chatting, but it is hard to make out what they are saying.
What will you do?

Knowing it is a BAD idea, Misty has to figure out what they are saying. Calling back her pokemon quickly she sneaks close enough to hear without being seen. She has her pokemon ready just in case!
