The demo version of LordKhorn's mod for Heroes V ToE named "Chaos Theory" has been released. Unfortunately the project was officially closed. The only good news - one faction (Haven) has been replaced by new units (base, first and second upg.). In addition, the creatures of the first upgrade of the Necropolis  were replaced by new units.
New units have very high quality textures and it would be great to add them to NCF.

True the creatures are incredible! I already spoke with LordKhorn and he  doesnt mind to add his creatures to the NCF pack. It is already on my to do list .

Btw he wanted someone with Polish-English to translate his mod. Are you going to do it?

Rather not.
First reason - I am busy translating to Polish NCF MegaPack and other additional creatures (in MegaPAck I have to do Hex editing the names of creatures to the Map Editor). The project I temporarily suspended due to lack of time.
Second reason - I think my English is not at the right level to do it right.

Alright. Btw how do you hex edit names in map editor? could you throw a fast guide on how it is done?

Btw hold your position with any NCF stuff as I will be rebuilding everything from the ground.

I go to GameFolder-Editor-IconCache-AdvMapObjectLink-MapObjects-Monsters-NCF folder (If I did not skip something) and I open file with any Hex Editor (I edit for example file "creature_180"). At the bottom of the file, I change the name of the creature from English to Polish equivalent. If the number of letters is the same in both languages is perfect. If the name in English is longer,  the excess space I fill with the "space" button. Depending on the number of letters I need to edit the English or French version of the file.
At this moment I can not add extra space for letters.
If the text is longer than the original, it will not appear in the Map Editor.
PS. Is it worth doing this job? Do you intend to replace these files with icons like Psatkha did?

I do want to make them like that. He doesn't seem to use hex files which is always a plus. Give me a few days and I will let you know how it goes.

Ok here is what I am up to and what I cannot understand in the NCF. May be someone from here can help. I managed to reverse engineer NCF creatures and can extract them from the NCF pack and make separate entities automatically. Method is based on the internal links in the .xdb files. All things in a NCF creature is linked one way or another.

What I cannot understand is the following. For example in this Psatka creature there are a number of files that are not linked to any xdb file. How the game understands they are for that creature and how to use them? Here are the files:

Effects_(Effect)CharactersCreaturesNeutralH5 A0Sexton:
- Cloud01.xdb
- Cloud02.xdb
- FlashGlow02.xdb
- Glow05.xdb
- hit.(Effect).xdb

Those file names do not exist in any of the creature files which baffles me. There is something that is missing from the chain.

I did also ask Psatka and waiting response from him. :/

Now files Cloud01.dds and Cloud02.dds is abandoned! Most likely in the early versions of this creature those files were used but later they were not needed!

P.S.

Those files were used in early versions of file [hit.(Effect).xdb]

thanks you so much, just saw your message at the other page .

This means that the script can clean creatures out of obsolete material!

P.S. On a test map default Psatka creature and extracted creature have the same visual features, which confirms from another point of view that those files are leftovers.

I updated my dropbox folder, add some creatures which I found on Heroes Community, heroesworld.ru and somewhere in the internet.

I like the third upgrade of creatures. Creatures can only be improved on Hill Fort, but it's very interesting option. It would be cool if every creature had a third upgrade. At this moment only two creatures from each faction have a third upgrade.
Some creatures have too little mana to cast spells, so for the heroes 5.5 need some changes.

Thank you Mario I will get them when I am back on my repo PC.

I will be quiet for some time as the work from here on will require significant time. Just to keep you on track of the current progress:

I managed to extract and arrange 90% of the data in a separate folder for each creature! Tomorrow I will be testing another iteration that will increase this % and will surely leave only junk files as an outliers.

After this is done comes the slow part. Testing each creature operation separately and fixing it if required.

Once I have all creatures in separate paks which are 100% working on their own I can start manipulating the files themselves in order to include the editor properties (that do not require hex editing).

Once this is done we go into part 2 which is redoing the whole NCF numbering from zero (to hero ). This is where I will start looking and introducing the new creatures we are collecting.

One more thing. I found an installer (in Polish) replacing standard cities with others (older modification). Files were some time ago in the Deflktor's folder in .pak format. Here we have an installer, found on the LordKhorn website.

I got all files. I got the hell knight as well as many NCF creatures I did go through the forums a few months ago. The only creatures I dont have are Psatkas but his work is good enough for original ToE expansion so they will be added once I am ready with the NCF_pack.

Does anybody know where does
<Item>ABILITY_CRYSTAL_SCALES</Item>
ability comes from?

In game it is seen as "Crystal Scale" but I dont know what it does. I saw it on a crystal dragon from NCF. As far as I can tell I cant find it on the creature abilities list.

In-game menu says Crystal Scale - "Crystal Dragon is immune to direct creature killing abilities - Harm Touch, Vorpal Sword, Deadeye Shot etc, etc.." but where does this ability comes from. No ToTe creatures has it.

I just got a freaking awesome idea... but I need to test first .

I forgot about one old Polish modification to Heroes V ToE: "Serce Ashan" ("Heart of Ashan").

When I checked this mod about half year ago I remember that I had a problem with it. To work properly I installed it in an empty folder, unpacked the .pak files, changed all date to current and packed it back. Then, of course, I copied to the  right folders in Heroes V Toe.
