Hey, the PVP of warhammer is something that sounds nice... Being able to conquer the enemy city and actually give this distinct feeling that the world is constantly changing, like the real world!
I even start doubting whether quests are the way to go, actually...
Since coming up with quests is pretty similar to grinding or going on for hours about some fetching that won't change the world at all...

Bah, just ignore me and my hating.

Well PVP is an entire different thing than PVE though. I asked how could you improve the PVE mode.

Balancing stuff? Not having the "go and hunt for loot/xp" crap mentality?

Heck I would improve it by letting it not even gain experience nor loot! Ha! Just gaining levels as you progress (in PvE, that's easy since it's usually some story), not by killing/grinding/looting

Pretty much any PvE in MMOs are like "Kill 5 Anub'ar Darters".

But in WotLK there is some difference atleast.
And you get used to the kill quests really fast. In WoW you kill mobs in less then five seconds when you solo

Well whatever story there is in a (main) quest, you'll still consider killing stuff grinding. And without any fights it's not that interesting.

Although I agree that monsters themselves shouldn't grant you XP (in all games, not just MMOs), but only the quest progress. I never liked killing creatures giving XP, because it gives the mentality of: "I have to search every corner of the map, to get as much experience as possible!", even when you completed your 'job'.

Let's say there is a quest where you have to infiltrate a fortress and get something from it or poison the leader of the fortress. Obviously this turns into: "poison the leader, and also kill all the enemy creatures to get as much experience as possible", which is just wrong IMO. For one it is boring and annoying, and for two it destroys the purpose of being stealthy and avoiding some enemy patrols.

To be fair, you can also die in eight seconds...

And saying that wotlk is different doesn't help, because that would require so much time to get there, that I could've gone to my preferred university or write a best-selling novel or both!

@ASheera, it still doesn't make sense if killing stuff doesn't make you better at killing stuff.

At least theres not so much 'kill x boars y wolfs z kobolds' type quests. But a bit unfair in Scholazar factions. Why Frenzyheart tribe doesnt have a cool revard like The Oracles. Those fishy frogy things have a Mysterious Egg, from which you can get a Proto Drake mount... Those furry wolveriny things have no such thing! UNFAIR!

I dont agree that leveling is slow. If you already have an high level character you can buy shoulders that grant +10% XP from monsters.
In patch 2.3 in TBC, the amount of XP needed to level was reduced by 30% for level 20-70 and you get an additional +30% XP from quests.

And you used as Succubus when you leveled your Warlock, that made you deserve to die

And why shouldnt you get XP from mobs? It only makes you level quicker. It is not like you kill mobs all and over again to get XP. Quests get you much more expereince then killing lots of monsters.

Of course if you meant that "Kill the Defias Bandit Lord and 15 Defias Thieves" then I agree. Rather it could have been "Kill the Bandit Lord and 5 Defias Thieves".

And yeah, solo combat is short and simple in most cases and I think that should change. But it should not be to hard and complicated.
When I tried to play LOTRO it took like 5 seconds to do one attack -.-

I like fast paced combat.

The record to 70 was 4 days I think - but then you will have to play non-stop and that is a lot nerdy and geeky even for me

I would say that it takes around a month or two to level to 1-80 if you dont already know all quests etc, have some average experience in the game and stick to one character.

I remember when I first levelled up that I couldnt focus on one character created new ones all the time which I leveled up to 10

I recently started an orc female warlock myself

Day One: Im lvl 6 Took around one hour.

Maybe 4-7 months.

Ï was a very big noob and it took like a year for me to get to lvl 60 back in the days

But then I was like 10 years old and didnt understand much of the game at all. I didnt know there was something called Talents untill lvl 40 - and then that talent button had flashed for several months

I remember that level 50-60 went really fast though, since I had learned to play a lot better.
The longest time to level was around 20-45 for me I think.
My friend always complained that I leveled so slow back then

But a guy in my grade has 3 level 80s
I only have one and one lvl 70 and two level 40.

Im more of a lore geek. Sure, I raid too since the game is ridiculously easy and causal now and I can do the raids with pick up groups perfectly fine. I have done all raid content in WotLK except Malygos on normal difficulty (that said, on the easiest modes and "versions").

Well thats how it is though, and side-quests should NOT give you XP or super items -- the way it is now, the actual reward someone says to give you after that quest is DWARFED by all other factors

(well, doing good for good itself is a good enough reward too )

There are obviosuly mobs guarding the leader and you will need to kill them to reach him anyway so why not include them in the quest?

I do think that there should be options in the quests, kind of like Fable. Like "Poison the leader or get double amount of gold from him and attack assassinate the quest giver secretly" or something like that.

And two clases in WoW can stealth
The Druid and the Rogue.

The Night Elves can also Shadowmeld, turning invisible but not been able to move.
