Well no. I use 32 bit GDI because HD mod doesn't read Era custom colors but for non era players, is better 32 bit True. Then some of my options are specific to era (Baratorch posted once a hint) but they won't be optimal for SoD users.

Better keep my options in backup for era, then use default when you play sod or Hota.

So you see, life is not that simple. Better keep my options in backup for era, then use default when you play sod or Hota.

True, but the HD mod comes with 4 seperate default ini files for WoG, Era, HotA, and Sod. I would think at least one should have the change for this to be avoided.

Anyway, thanks again for finding the solution to my problem.

Next thing that shall be awsome to appear on the next version of Heroes III, is the compatibility with HotA. I mean, HotA already have some HD objects, some graphical fixes, and different fonts, but it shall be awsome already to add the HD to this. If it already appeared, then i'd shut up.

Oh, and another thing, good job !!!
Keep doing it, you are great peoples.
And, would it be possible to add the texture of the HotA pikemen to the Heroes III HD ?
I just asked, but it will still be enjoyable with both

Edit:
Is the HD mod replacing the current Heroes 3 ?
Or it is a fairly other heroes 3 ?

I'm unsure of what you are asking.
Essentially the HD mod installs to the same folder as your current heroes install and launching the game with the HD mod will then make the game run in HD. Using the old heroes3.exe will still launch the original non-hd version. The HD .exe then becomes what you use instead of the original, but most of the files are shared (e.g. your saves, some heroes 3 settings, the data folder, etc.

My laptops resolution is 1280x800, 16:10.
The hd launcher recommends 1062x664, which is 1.599, while 1072x670, a resolution recommended on page 6 in this thread, is actually 1.6.
Not important, but why is that ?
Is it set there in the HD launcher for the minimum resolution with the extended interface close to that aspect ratio ?
Why not set it to actual 1.6, 1072x670 ? Because things will get a few pixels smaller with that option ?
Anybody cares to explain this if possible ? Thanks.

First off 1.599=1.6
The pixel number is always an integer of course.
The launcher recommends x664 for that is the minimal vertical pixel amount needed in order to get all interface enhancements.
You'll hardly be able to tell a difference between the two suggestions, I mean it is a difference of mere 6px vertically.
You can even try 1280x800, things will become a bit smaller.

Yeah, i tried before the native 1280x800, too small for my eyes
I got curious why isn't it set to exactly 1.6, as in 1072x670, instead of that 1062x664, which as you say, is quite the same.

It's just because 664*1.6=1062.4 --> no integer

But no matter which 16:10 resolution you choose it will be scaled up to your native resolution 1280x800 (i.e. no black borders).

Hi guys,

I asked this on Celestial Heavens, but Salamandre redirected me to here with my questions about the HD mod. So here I am.

First I would like to thank the creator (Baratorch) for this mod. It's great, I love the small changes which make the game so much more comfortable to play. But I have one major problem with it!

So the creatures which take up two hexes on the battlefield, can't move backwards by one hex, only two. What I mean by that is I can't click on the rear of the monster to make it move like in the unmodded version, but only behind it. I hope it gets fixed.

Maybe It is a known problem, I just wanted to underline it in the relevant topic.

Vanilla game does not let you move back one hex neither, this has nothing to do with HD mod. At least I never found a way to do so, do you hold some secret? The minimum you can move back (and if not near battlefield left side) is 2 hexes.

Hello,

First of all, thanks for creating this HD mod and sharing it for free among Homm3 players. Apparently, hero doesn't use spells in auto-combat mode. I've got installed 1.3.8 HotA and recent HD mod. When I run basic heroes complete edition or hota without using the HD mod, hero uses spells just fine in auto-combat.

Is it intentional or just as someone said, to prevent hero from burning mana on elementals.

Regards,
Furter
